You will love your Nook. There are always a lot of free books to download. I think you go to the home screen and type in 0 (for $0)

Snow ing here this morning. So far just flurries, no accumulation. I will take that over the hard winds we had all night last night.

For those wondering about Arlene, they have snow on the ground out there. She is camped out at her sister's house, since she isn't very mobile right now. (due to her leg problems). Niece is taking care of the cats. Hopefully, she will pop up over here soon.

I have done nothing but nibble on leftovers all day.
I gave myself the whole day off.
Now I'm getting bored. Time to find something to read. I'd love to start making cards, but I'm really enjoying all the clean flat surfaces I have right now.

Afternoon.

Heard this morning that my grandma (Dad's mom) passed away in her sleep during the night. She was 88 1/2 yrs old. Not doing well lately, not eating, down to 85#, not recognizing anyone. Definitely her time and she knew it...my aunt said she found her with a smile on her face.

Sorry to hear that Laurie!

Hubby's and my grandmothers aren't doing well either so I know how hard it is to see them like that.

Wow! We have just had flurries and wind all day here. One of the neighbors posted that it is sleeting, but I haven't seen any yet.

We got something like 45cm of snow in that storm that hit this time last week. Now we're predicted to get 20cm in the next 24 hours or so. Yuck.

Am just home a bit ago. Parentals and I drove to see my paternal grandparents today (they live 3 hours away). Long day, especially for my poor Mom, who has caught the flu. Almost everyone in my family has had sometype of gastro bug/flu and/or cold in the past two weeks. My maternal grandmother has been so sick for the past week that she missed all the family festivities and Christmas church services (which is how we know she is SICK! She doesn't miss stuff like that for anything!) Only myself, lilbro3 and aunt have not been sick I think - oh, and SIL3, but as she has been away for most of the past 3 weeks or so, she has not been exposed to it. I have been washing my hands like crazy and hoping I do not come down with anything.
I will be bbiab. Haven't eaten today since I was traveling so need to go get some food cooking.

Looks like the funeral will be on Monday and I'm supposed to work my two days in one that day and dd2 has a bday party to attend that afternoon.

So, I bought this: Knorr® Recipe Soups - Savoury Herb with Garlic Soup Mix on a whim one day. And I made this: Lemon Garlic Chicken. It has become one of my new favourites. I think this is the third time I've made it in the past 4-6 weeks. I tried it this time with chicken thighs instead of chicken chests (just for C), and added a whole container of sliced mushrooms to the chicken before adding the sauce. It does take a while for the sauce to simmer down, but........ it is almost no prep, and dirties just 4 dishes - 1 pot for rice; 1 large/deep skillet/frying pan for the chicken/sauce; 1 pair tongs for turning the chicken and 1 serving spoon. Oh, and if you don't use a disposable bag for the flour, then 1 bowl for dredging with flour.
ETA: but I did cut the amount of margarine/butter I used for "frying" in half and found that it was quite enough.

I love chicken thighs and dh loves the legs. Bet this recipe would be good with a mix of the two.

I'm don't know about the legs Imogene. It calls for boneless, skinless chicken; so I've done it once with the breasts it calls for, and twice with thighs. But all three were boneless/skinless. I haven't tried legs at all. If you try it, let us know how it goes.

Evening!

Snow, freezing rain and high winds here today. Blech! I'm hoping that the freezing rain and high winds don't cause our power to go out - it's already flickered once earlier this evening.

Hi Misse!
Have you had all your family gatherings, or do you still have some to go?

1 more to go if the weather holds out for us.

We got together with dh's mom/step-dad and his brother/sil/2 boys on Sunday. We got together with his dad/dad's gf/ dad's gf's 2 kids with their spouses and kids on Monday. We got together with my parents, sister/bil/2 boys and my brother/sil/their son on Christmas. My sil's father joined us too since my sil's mother died this past year and since she's an only child he didn't really have anyone else to spend the holiday with. My aunt and her family are supposed to come down on Friday, but we'll just go out to eat with them. We don't really exchange gifts with them, although sometimes she gets the kids a little bit of candy or a book.

I got gift cards from Ms.
Since I became a Demo, I've been keeping myself well supplied in goodies.

I'm not a demo and I've been keeping myself well-supplied! In addition to all the stuff I got for Christmas, the clearance rack order I put in came.
I'm going to have to figure out some kind of solution for my ink pads. I have a SU! ink caddy, but even with all my black pads living on my desk, I have about 8 ink pads that don't fit in the caddy. I have a few retired colours that I either need to use up the few pieces of cs I have left and then pass on the inkpads, or something. 'cause I just cannot have piles of ink pads all over my desk. That is just craziness.
I am going to put in one largish order in the new year, as I think the next club order falls during SAB and I am hostess. But after that, I really need to focus on a real purge of my stamps AND getting stuff um and into DVD cases. Space is becoming a serious issue in general.

Anybody have any cottage cutz dies? Are they any good?
I am liking these, but the price seems a bit steep.
