I did well in math in school, and took more than the required credits in high school - but I didn't enjoy it. However, I LOVE English & history and still do. (So disappointed that the history channel these days is airing so much junk "reality" shows and so little of the quality docs they used to. I used to watch something on the history channel probably 5 days out of 7. These days it is often 1 day out of 7.) Having to do excel spreadsheets is my idea of painful and torturous - that program is not something I have really worked with & figured out how to use. I DO have an excel spreadsheet going at work, but it would horrify any accountant, as it does not have or use a single formula. I have multiple lists of things I have to keep track of, and just have columns in an excel spreadsheet so I can keep it all in one place and just have one document open, instead of having to use a half dozen or more. (I have enough stuff open & running all the time on my computer at work as it is.) Of course, the fact I've never had to use excel, nor had anyone show me how it works, does not help matters. I've played around with it some in maintaining my lists, but I definitely do not know how to use it properly.
Then I have a lilbro to whom math makes so much sense, that he will be the first one to tell you that if you need it explained, don't ask him. If you need someone to show you how to work the problem, ok. WHY you work the problem in that way etc. - he is not the guy. He has gotten better over the years, but he is one of those people to whom it just makes so much sense, he almost can't understand how it doesn't make sense to someone else & break it down into smaller pieces for them. He isn't arrogant about it, but he is very upfront about it.

And having posted that and just re-read it - if you made it through that piece of rambling nonsense which has absolutely no point whatsoever - congratulations. Apparently I should be in bed or something because I'm not making much sense!

Has already started snowing here and it is coming down pretty heavily. Only the beginning of it, and I am already glad I am not out in it. If it keeps up at this pace overnight, we'll have quite a bit of snow by morning.

Kelly it does make sense...

for some people they cannot explain things simply. esp. if it is too obvious to them, because the do not understand why everyone is not "getting it"
( which would not make them good choices for teachers of anything)

my internet was way wonky and shut it all down and am trying over.
tomorrow will be another hit the ground running day and saturday will continue it. ( I'm hoping to rest sunday haha)

You all know me well enough to know I'm not preachy. I saw this on FB and remembered my favorite Sunday school teacher taught us this an eon ago. No worries.

Yep. That's exactly why I don't believe anyone who says "They know" when anything's going to happen.

Well, that and my eschatology is pretty unorthodox these days. Used to be mainstream before the 20th century. Not so much now.

It has definitely been snowing all night - a good 4 inches out there. Still coming down heavily and very windy. Going to go in to work early because I don't know how hard it will be for my colleague to get in to work. Will probably take the phones off the answering system early as well, since I imagine we will have a lot of people calling in to re-schedule appointments.

I'm curious as to what you term unorthodox.
IMO, eschatology pretty much boils down to the belief that 1)Jesus will return and 2)that the Bible says no one knows the day or the hour. Beyond that, Revelation does talk about the tribulation. IMO, any discussion about timelines for those events etc. is opinion/semantics.

Hello Everybody!

Since I have not been here much chatting I planned to send Christmas cards out to all. But I am still having problems with my eyes and the cards still sit on the table.

So I am sending all my Merry Christmas Wishes and a Wonderful New Year!!!!

A little early as I have been sick and way behind on shopping, thank goodness I have this weekend off. But I have to work first time EVER Christmas Eve 8am to1. Still have not made any cookies. This is a first time ever too!

Merry Christmas!

I will try to get on SCS more to chat!

It won't work for an Etsy name though so I'm still working on that one.

Home! Two weeks off.
Will be great after I get through the big dinner on Christmas Day.
Sinus/ear infection is somewhat better today, but the steriod shot kept me awake last night. Maybe tonight will be better.

Today is so full of blessings.

This morning I posted that I had a date with Dr. Baltz and Ginger, my chemo nurse. Stated I had a Christmas wish - a blood transfusion (and then added my silly note that homemade divinity is always welcomed... lol I just cannot be super serious, the humor always comes out.)

I got my Christmas wish. My red blood cell was at 9.3 before chemo and anything lower than 9.9 is when you can have a transfusion. So I got my Christmas present from Dr. Baltz (and he told me he does not like divinity so he would not help me get any...lol).

Other blessings appeared tooo.. Turns out all the leg issues, including the knee where I thought I had apparently torn cartlidge again and was having trouble walking, the legs/ankles being swollen, itching and burning, and the other cramping in the lower abdomen is ALL DUE to the red devil drug. I was given an IV with more steriods (in addition to those 3 pills and the reg IV of steriods I have to have for chemo) plus toradol (some type of anti inflammatory).

Blessing 1 - I am walking without so much pain after this treatment.

Blessing 2 - I will not have to see an othro on my knee...

Blessing 3 - I am to take a few diuretics to remove the fluids from my legs (thankfully something can be done!).

Blessing 4 - I get to have a lovely transfusion tomorrow at Baptist 4th floor B

Blessing 5 - The only positive thing taking the red devil that I have experienced is that my arms and hands look normal. You see I am also allergic to the Taxol chemo and it gave me chemo induced psorasis -- my hands, arms, and legs looked so nasty. My hands look almost normal.

Blessing 6 - I am alive, in good spirits and have a wonderful supportive team of family, friends and mighty prayer warriors.

Blessing 7 - One more thing -- I am not to take the hydocodones for the leg pain. Instead over the next few days I am to take a percocet... He apparently thinks this will occur frequently because I was given a bottle of 100 pills... ***WOW*** and they are horsepills. I am to take them at night for 2 to 3 days until pain goes away (and the fluid pills will take away the fluid that is causing the pain). But now we know the symptoms and the treatment and can do the best to avoid it or at least not get as bad as this week.

Also bought me a cane tonight (with the 4 prongs on the bottom in hopes I can use it instead of the walker all the time. All is good tonight.

Oooh! Well I've been thinking I'll get my Auntie a voucher for her Kindle, but I have no idea where is a good place?
She got given a Kindle last Christmas from her partner (she really wanted one) but has never used it! She doesn't have a credit card, and wasn't sure how to 'get started'. So I thought if I got her a voucher it would at least give her a start!

Who would you recommend to get a voucher from?

You can get a voucher or what I expect we term a gift card for her Kindle at Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more

That way she can use it to download books as she likes.
