I don't really understand how you are going to make arrow heads. So you made a mold out of glue. How do you make something out of that so it doesn't melt the glue?
I think I'm going to need a bowl of ice cream, too...
I have more lemon ice in the freezer... it goes very nice in the hot weather...DD made a strawberry rhubarb pie today...its over there calling my name...

Well, I think you deserve a piece of pie with a little bit 'o vanilla ice cream on it!
I'm having a bowl of vanilla. I use some graham crackers, margarine, and a little bit of sugar to make a "graham cracker crust" topping. It's pretty yummy!

DH needed a shape to press into the sand mold that was two pieces that would fit together...to pour melted metal into so I mad ea patter and traced it on to foil. then shaped the glue and kind of layered and mounded it to give it height in the middle. he will press it into the sand and then puts the second half on top and then presses the two frames of the mold together. after you get eh two halfs you put them together after removing the mold.. If I had a real arrow head I could cut in half I wouldn't have had to make them...so what I really made was 12 arrowhead halves for DH to mold....

Sounds interesting. So is the sand actually what he will pour the metal in?
I will take some pictures when DH makes the mold so you can see it...I did some the other day...but basically you use talc between the two pieces and sand so it can be taken apart after you do the mold.. the sand is sticky and packed so it is solid. then you take the halves apart and remove the mold
took forever to get the pictures uploaded.. the item being molded is pressed into the sand then packed tight then talc over then the other frame half it stacked then sand added and pounded to pack then you can take the frame apart then remove the molded piece and add tubing and air holes to pour the metal into .. .I think he is trying to find away to get the metal melted at a hotter temp next.. he got the new chimney working...so that problem is solved
I can't upload pics right now I am on my iPad. I will go upstairs in a little bit and upload them... Not sure what I am doing with all of them... Some started as teacher gifts..
I am lost Kathy... Not really sure what you are doing...
DH decided 2 yrs ago he wanted to save aluminum cans to melt so after researching and saving cans the project began starting on the 4th...on the 4th the chimney ceramic he thought he could used broke and the frame fell and the sand went all over...
Today he had mad e anew chimney out of stove pipe...it worked...but he had a hard time getting the aluminum liquid enough to pour.
The method of molding he is using, uses wooden frames and fine sand mixed with bisimuth???(kitty Litter) when you mix it with sand and a little liquid it gets sticky..and if you pack it holds its shape...it can be reused over and over so saves money over using investment plaster to make a mold...
the firt picture shows the metal pie making plate Dh is trying to duplicate. levels in teh sand he has brushed talcum powder on to it and has added the second half of the frame the second picture he is starting to layer the second half of the mold with sand he will pack it tight.. the talc lets him take them apart and remove the item to be molded.and then put it back together with it hollowed out and then pour the hot melted metal into it and make a 3D object
