It is basically an open group. We meet at x place at x time on a weekly basis. Show up when you like, stitch (or we have a couple people that knit or crochet) on whatever you like - it's BYOP (bring your own project), bring a friend if you want etc.
Some nights only a dozen people show up. Some nights more than 30 people. Some people come every week, some people come only once a month. I don't think we've ever all been there at the same time.
At a rough guess, I would think we have at least 40-50 people all told, but that really is a guess!
Wow!! That is so much bigger than I expected you to say!!

Yes. So far this year I've stitched a piece for my sister for her birthday and a piece for my parents for their anniversary, plus I've stitched all the nieces and nephews Christmas ornaments for this year and next year. Plus one piece for me. Oh, and the charity quilt square - but that really didn't take all that long as it was only about a 10-12 hour stitch.
Although I didn't get much stitching time in the years I was in uni and teaching (and one of the largest projects I worked on during that time ended up getting completely ruined and I had to toss them. I've one more that is more than 3/4 finished and is also for me, but has a serious stain in a really obvious place. I'm trying to get my hands on a particular cleaning product and if that takes the stain out, I will finish the piece. Otherwise I'll have to toss it as well), I've pretty much always had a project "on the go" for the past 25 years. I just recently finished the FIRST project I've ever kept for myself. Crazy eh? I actually have three more on the go right now that are for ME! (and I don't feel one bit guilty!)

They used to have to limit the number of people, since there was only so much room in the shop. I was never able to go then, since I was living in TO at the time, though I knew about the group since I always hit the shop whenever I was home. The shop, unfortunately, closed a couple years ago, and the group now meets in the basement of a local church. They have a huge room they let us use, and I think we could double in size and still fit.

UGH. tried my new popcorn maker. Been so looking forward to this. Um yeah. What a bust. Useless popcorn maker. I've had to pull the battery from my smoke detector and open all my windows to try and air out my house. It doesn't pop the popcorn. It just burns it. And when I say burn, I mean unpopped kernels burnt to a black crisp within 30 seconds of turning on the machine.
Worse, I'm not sure where the receipt is. I thought I had kept it in the top of the box, but I can't find it. Going to have to look for it 'cause I will definitely be taking this machine back and asking for a refund!

YAY! Found the receipt. I bought other stuff that day which I had already put away and stuck the plastic shopping bag in the cupboard where i keep the bags. Found that bag and in it there was the all-important receipt.
Serves me right for wanting the fun popcorn popper & paying extra to get it I guess. Will return this one and go to the department store and buy the cheapie boring one.

Unbelievable. Bullied teen taunted even after death - Canada - Canoe.ca
This case has been making headlines here for several days. I find it absolutely mind-boggling that those that bullied her while alive are continuing to taunt her even after she is dead. I truly hope the police catch these young people so that they can be given counseling and learn how to treat other people properly.

Not here either, although I hadn't planned on doing anything crafty today. I worked on the kids scrapbooks on Friday for the first time in a looooong time - got 4 pages done. I did help set up for the book fair today though. I saw a lot of cute books.

I'll have to get some paper sacks at the store and try that.

We do it all of the time, although my microwave doesn't take the 2-3 minutes that links says. Mine only takes about 90 seconds so watch your microwave the first tie you do it.
