Morning!

Need to get the gumption up to go shower before hubby gets off work so we can do the grocery shopping.

@LA - I am so jealous! I wish I could find some friends that stamp here so I could have some playmates

he needs to decide, he wavers between Star wars people and gold ninja

he wants more fabric like what I used on his knight costume (gold and shiny)

Nice crisp sunny day here. Going to make myself a nice brunch I think. I might run some errands later, and do a bit of cleaning, but otherwise intend to spend the day crafting.

I forgot I have to bake too. We are having our family Thanksgiving tomorrow instead of next weekend since the parentals will be away next weekend. There are two people bringing dessert, but since their desserts usually have dairy in 'em, my mother advised me to bring my own. I bought a bunch of bananas for banana bread last weekeend and they are now quite ripe, so I need to use some of them & toss the rest in the freezer. I think I will also make that flourless chocolate cake I pinned. I have a couple of mini spring form pans, and I have raspberries & cool whip, so I can take my own personal cake with berries & cool whip for dessert tomorrow.

I have this bookmarked (but haven't really, really read to see how it works) for ds1. I vote that you make it for your son this year and ds1, who I believe is a year or two younger than your son, can wear it next year!

DS1 is going to be a storm trooper this year. We have a conflict on trick or treat night though so I'm not sure what we're going to do. I miss the days that you went trick or treating the Friday before Halloween. This going on the actual day messes everything up for me and makes for a late school night evening.

Ds2 wants to be the red lego ninjago guy.

I'm considering buying it from Oriental Trading, unless I can find it cheaper in the stores.

See above link and comment (in case Suzanne doesn't go for it) since I think that your ds2 is a tiny bit older than my ds1.

It's always been the night of around here. What messes me up now is the time change after Halloween...it always was the weekend before so it would be dark early. Nowadays, do you wait for dark or still go at the usual time?!

Around here there are set hours (6-8pm) that you are allowed to go.

I was just looking at it...looks like too much work (listen to me, now I sound like ds1 ).

I think this will be his last year since he's 12, at least for trick or treating...there's always parties but he not as social as ds1.

Do you like the turkey better with or without the dp belly? I think that one looks more like an owl, but maybe it's just me? I'd use the flower punch and not the oval one because I like the looks of that one a little bit better.

Typically that's about the same here, but there are some that start out a 5:15-5:30 and then of course there are those from the apartments that will come over at 8:30 and will ring the bell even when the light is off. They try to get the candy from people that will empty their bowls at the end of the night.

I like it better without, otherwise it looks more like and owl to me. Ds1 is selling candy bars for a school program now and the shape looks like those bars.

Saw my wild turkey friend down the road the other day...haven't seen him in my yard lately.

Exactly...too much work. Of course if you know what you're doing it probably really isn't that much work, but just the thought of it, ugh.

Our hours are set by the township. I'm not sure how well people stick to them because we're not normally home. We live in a pretty rural area, without many children, so we normally go at dh's father's house or my parents place since they live in actual developments. Before we had kids, when we stayed home, we were lucky to have 2 kids come to our house for Halloween. Normally we didn't have any kids.

You forget that you posted a picture of the costume that you made your son last year. Since I've never made a costume for my kids (we've always gotten them on clearance or used), you're one up on me.

The Lego people really should get on the ball and make Ninjago costumes and party supplies because they're missing out on a huge market!

I should be out getting my nephew's bday present for tomorrow's party. His bday is actually 10/30, which is right between my kids and now ds1's Confirmation, so I thought she was going to do it the week before Confirmation but last Monday sil sent an email to have his party early this weekend. Good thing I had her thinking about the dates 3 months ago.

I made a couple of J's costumes when he was little. One year he went as a Gameboy and one year as a racecar driver.

Well they just got the regular block candles and stuff so maybe in 18 months they'll have the Ninjago stuff when everyone is on to the next fad.

Dd1 wants to be an Angry Bird...she saw a girly looking one in a magazine or something. Dd2 is still big into the Tangled/Rapunzel princess. I just bought her a wig for it and we'll use one of the princess dresses she already has.

Ds1 wants to dress as a "teenager" so I said ok, I'll just draw on a few extra pimples. He just rolled his eyes and walked away.
