Imogene...

My SU Demo...
club... how ever many people... divided by 150, that is the amt they spend each month.
workshops at her house...each member has a 'hostess month' where they get the benefits and provide/bring snacks.
Demo does three cards with the peeps.
'non-club' peeps can come and make the cards and either pay $5 OR place any size order.

Im up and hoping these pills kick in fast ( I kinda know better but, am greedy) and June who had her very first sinus infection was like oh my pills kicked in in 2 hours...

because before I left for the day I said well hopefully I will be feeling something tomorrow hahaha...

Im trying to remember how the "clubs" I was in went, my very first demo ( su of course ) was a lady who was in a bad accident 32 years ago ( we are still friends) she taught me to stamp at her house. she's in a wheel chair and she did them in her dining room and I bet she worked all month to get all those pieces of paper cut and such before we go there. ( her son helped ) if she forgot a tool one of us would go to her stamp room and fetch it. we'd make a few things, usually 2 or 3 cards It did not cost anything and it was assumed we would order. ( and most the people at the table did place large orders it wasnt a club, it was how she held "parties") so, because it was a party you as the host could bring a snack and or punch or tea or something that could be served in her kitchen and we just cleaned her kitchen after.

when I went to a club (this demo has since moved to Wa) she would rent a room ( free usually if we ordered dinner) like a banquet room of a resturant. they would let her use the room assuming we would pay to eat there. and it worked OK most the time it was held right after work and people were hungry. and we would make one card and one 3-d thing, she'd have all the stuff pre-cut with a sample and we would place orders. ours had to be 15.00 I think, and you had to have your order that night, so if you could not be there you had to be ready in advance and she would come by work and pick them up. she had two "clubs" at the same time so it was a lot of people waiting to use the same stamp and it really took a long time.
(and she would get nervous when she would point at me and say well you already know this ( about everything even when I did not) so after a while I just stopped going. I placed my orders but, did not go to the make a sample things.

So I think the best parties I have ever attended are the ones where they ask you what do you know are you familiar rather then the kind where you get the recruiting speach for a while before you get to play. If you are having fun and your people are having fun they want to be doing it again...

Tami, I keep thinking you have to know a lot of people through your church... and that makes me wonder if you just ever get together to stamp with some of the crafty ones?

maybe have an open house type thing at a banquet room. and dont even try to sell it, just have fun and show them how to stamp or make a card or tag or something. it doesnt have to be a fancy thing it could be very CAS because, that is actually what is the word "trendy" right now... and just play.??

that is as bad as getting a phone call in the middle of the night because you instantly worry something is wrong.

Well, the area is saturated with SU (or at least used to be) and the people I know from church either don't do crafty stuff or are pretty loyal to SU and won't branch out. As for the banquet room- I have checked and none of them will let you rent for free and none of our coffee shops have separate rooms. The price is ridiculous. Even our library charges an arm and both legs (if they even do it anymore- the last time I checked they didn't). and because it's "for profit" my church won't let me use a room.

Something I failed to mention about my card classes, is that I offer the 1st class free to a new person.

For instance, Shelia found me on the demo locator. She came by for a catalog and asked a few questions on how to's..... so we sat down and I showed her how to do a few things she wanted to know about. I put her on my mailing list and when I did my monthly email about classes, she got the email. She signed up for the class and came. When she got her and tried to pay me, I handed her the $20 back and told her I always do 1 class free. That way she only invests her time making the cards. If she likes it, then she will want to attend other card classes -- if she does not care for the classes, then she is out only her time -- not her time and her money.

I find that this has worked wonderfully for me. The "freebie" class has brought me many new class customers, who eventually make stamp orders and/or join classes.

Hey Arlene! I did check it out briefly and it looks interesting.

Right now I'm trying to focus my brain on picking out specific curriculum and the brain is on overload. Who the heck knew there are a least a dozen different math curricula to choose from and as many language arts, history and science one too.

There is an educator's book store about an hour from me that I need to go spend several hours in looking.

I'm hoping to get him switched over to the umbrella school by the 3rd week of Oct. That will give me 2 weeks to get all the paperwork done and find a curriculum to use.

Hilarious about the heels!

Glad the drugs are working. I usually end up with something that antibiotics won't touch. Ds2 is walking around with a tissue in his nose right now. It won't stop running.

Hey, at least he is using a tissue. I've met too many males to seem to be allergic/afraid of them...........

My older one is that way. He sneezes into the inside of his shirt front or wipes with the shoulder part of his shirt.

Wow, a local shooting here yesterday made the national news today. A man was fired at work yesterday and returned to open fire on the loading dock. Five died at the scene, including the shooter, another died at the hospital today. Seems mental illness has something to do with it. The shooter's parents live not far from my parents. So sad.

I'm glad to be watching the Braves from home. Can't stand big crowds.
The pre-game stuff was neat.

Allergies are still bugging me. Guess I will try some Benedryl tonight.

Unfortunately, I am now paying for that 'cause I lost the callous on my finger for where I feed the yarn. So now I can only work for so long before it starts to get tender. After crocheting for just over an hour and a half to do this dishcloth, its tender. If I keep going now, I'll either blister or end up raw, so time to stop! That and I've been noticing lately a tendency for the muscle in my right forearm to really tense up. Been bothering me for a couple of weeks. I've been able to loosen it some, but I've not been able to get it to completely relax. I've tried cold, heat, massage, water and I'm out of ideas. I also don't know what is causing it, which doesn't help me keep from making it worse. I'm quite puzzled.
