DD wants DS to go over and take a picture over the fence because he's tall enough. He doesn't care so doesn't want to.

Stalemate.

He's bigger than me, I can't "make" him do what she wants. *snort*

The heat index is supposed to 107 here today. I'm looking down at my jeans and cringing.

I might feel a little better but not much. I'm working on it. I might text somebody today to try to pull myself out of it. Maybe DR will work on me again.

I'm staying submerged with RS. I walked DH out around 620 this morning and it was disgusting. It should never be that hot and muggy before the sun even rises. Gag me.

I'm trying to decide if we should take DS to a specialist for his asthma. It seems like all the doctor can do is prescribe a controller and a rescue inhaler. I'd like to know if he has some type of specific allergy that is triggering the asthma. I'd much rather eliminate at trigger(if possible) than pump him full of inhaled steroids upon an attack.

I have a religious question to ask. Think I should put it in CE? It doesn't have to become anything heated, but with it being a religious question you never know. I just didn't know if I should start it in CE or ECC.

how old is he?

most allergists don't want to fool with kids until they're at least 3.

reasoning is most medications aren't approved for kids younger than that and they will grow out of most of them quickly (normally by the time they start school and are able to build up the antigens better)

that said - we did have dd2 tested at 2.5 because of two hospitalizations with pneumonia. and it helped - we found out her allegies and luckily they were food and we have been able to keep her away - of course they're the weird ones - but to know is better than not knowing.

but hugs - i know it sucks. we lived with albuterol by our sides for many many years, breathing treatments, etc - and we still have rescue inhalers.

dd2 is into something else now - and i'm not sure what.

her poor hands are in horrible condition. adn the dry air didn't help them any. just make them crack and peal even worse.

Maybe it is some type of eczema for DD2?

DS1 is almost 5. His pediatrician recommended a specialist who is a pulmonologist and allergist. I have been hoping that something would just magically change and his asthma would go away. Some days are better than others, but it just isn't budging.

I guess I will just give up and call.

oh, yeah - dd2 has eczema - but it's triggered by her allergies. normally when she cheats and has somehting with corn syrup in it her hands will break out - or if she's around cats.

we haven't been around cats and we've been very strict on the corn syrup lately - so i don't know what is triggering her hands now.

hugs - i hope they give you some answers - is he on singulair yet?

dd1 started this summer. oh my goat at the difference.

her asthma manifested itself as a spring cough for about a month each year and we were told there was nothing we could do... she had her rescue inhaler and the breathing treatments - which didn't work. well, this year the spring cough lasted till june - so i took her in and they started her on teh singulair - it took about 3 weeks but she hasn't coughed in a while.

Yup, singulair is what he takes. 4mg per day. He has to use the rescue inhaler nearly everyday and I have had to start carrying one with me in my bag. He has been taking it since April-ish. He took it for six weeks and did fantastic. Then, went off of it and the asthma symptoms came right back. So, he went back on it. Only this time the singulair didn't help as much. He still takes the rescue inhaler nearly ever day at least once.

dd2 was on 5mg singulair starting about that time - maybe they can up the dose. it's not a regular dosage for that age/size. but if singulair worked before maybe the increased dosage should help.

he should not be doing a rescue inhaler every day. i hope they can give you some answers. **hugs** and he can get to feeling better soon.

I got the impression from the pediatrician, that he couldn't have a stronger dose because he wasn't big enough. He did mention a stronger inhaled steroid that is taken daily and might help him. I think Advair is the one he mentioned. DS has always had such extreme reactions to steriods that I avoid them if at all possible. We joke that he has "roid rage." I'm not sure what they will do next week, but he can't have any type of antihistamines for five days prior to his appointment. He can continue on the asthma meds though. The woman on the phone mentioned that they might do some allergy testing on his back. Is that painful?

I asked DH if he was interested in taking off work that day to help me out. I've got DD at school at 8am. I've got DS1 at the allergist at 9am. DS2 at the dentist at 11am. I have a meeting at the school at 345pm and training at 5pm. He was already taking off early that day. It would be swell if he could just help me all day. He responded with "we'll see."

now to go buy nail polish for dd's party and find some ice cream dishes. i guess i need to buy the ice cream too.
Woo-Hoo!

I'm determined to lose 7lbs by my birthday. So, I've promised myself to work out every morning. Yesterday I worked out after I dropped off DD, but this morning I did it before everyone else got out of bed. It was so nice to be done before I even got everyone ready this morning. I'd like to keep at that everyday. I've figured out that if it doesn't get done first thing in the morning then it doesn't get done. I'm trying to watch my eating a bit more, but sweets are so tempting. I've made sure my meals are good, at the very least.

Since it's you, I'll say something, cos it's one of my faves that gets messed up. And I'm not sure if you did it on purpose.

Your interest was piqued.
You may have peaked in your strength when you were 21.
You may have peeked at your gifts when you were 7.

Okay gave my point of view.

Seriously that's what I ask people when they say they want creationism taught. "Which religion's creation story are you wanting taught?"

I'm going to the gym in a little bit.

The marine layer is still receding.
