Hey Granny!

I also like to get Christmas stuff put away fairly soon after the holiday. Start the new year fresh.

Went over to my elderly lady's house today and did 2 loads of laundry, changed her bed and helped decorate her tree.

By helping I mean I put them all on the tree RIGHT where she told me to....LOL

I will go back one day next week and do regular cleaning.

Louisville is where my friend Marylee moved. They're supposed to get that freezing rain tonight/tomorrow; they're preparing for power outages, etc. Hoping it won't be too bad for them.

I finally put the ornaments on the little tree in my bedroom. No lights, just the ornaments.

I think I have a 4' tree in the attic. If so,I might get it down and put it on the table in front of the dining room window.

Our neighbors have had a table top tree in their front window since a couple of days after Halloween.

70% chance of snow here on Monday.

And then it's going to get REALLY cold. As in a high temp of 11 on Tuesday. Bring your thermals.

I have a box full of kid/grandkid ornaments and would like to have them out when they all come over on the 21st.

May even let them pick a few to take with them.

Many items were purchased in the Amanas (German settlement near here) or at arts and crafts shows, so they're unique or hand-crafted versus mass-produced. And of course many of them are vintage style. There used to be a year-round Christmas store in Main Amana that had all kinds of pretty things, some by local artisans.

Then I went about a decade of no decorating at all or minimal decorating--and no tree. Last year was the first year that I put up a tree in a long, long time (bought the new skinny tree which I love). And I bought three Czech glass ornaments at the museum last year. I'm going there this weekend and may pick up a couple more. They're kinda pricey so it will take me a while to build up a collection.

I talked to my mom last night; she had a few updates about her friend. I guess the surgeon was more optimistic after the surgery than he was going in. The clot was on the outside of her skull (?) which is not as dangerous. And apparently even though she's in a light coma, she is responding to people. So they're hopeful that she'll recover.

What's ironic (in a good way) is that the paramedics who answered the call were the same ones who were at the car accident she had earlier in the day. And they recognized her. As soon as they knew that, they rushed to get her to the best trauma center.

They think maybe her getting hit by the airbag caused the clot??? I think that's a good reason to go to the ER and get checked out after an accident even if you "feel OK."
That's amazing it was the same paramedics. It's not like your folks are in Mayberry where they only have 2 police officers. So glad it's looking better for her.

MIL has snowmen all over the house at Christmas. The girls tried counting once but finally gave up! LOL! I love Christmas decorations.

I started this about 4 hours ago & am just now finishing. Oy!

Miss I, I love your tree! Granny, show us yours! And stay warm you two! I know it's colder in Iowa than Georgia, but I'm sure GA is like us in that we were in the mid 80's one day & 2 days later are in the 30's. Our bodies haven't a clue how to handle it. Well, my body is always hot, but for the non-menopausal bunch it's hard. ha, ha!

Today we are taking more things out of our room to the storage unit. We'll do the final walk through in the house to see if the seller did all he was supposed to. If not, we have to push closing to another time or possibly day. Hoping it's all done!

Need to call the cable company to get that set up for next week, too. Internet & phone are all with cable.

Hugs!

Hey, at least we're in double digits! (12 degrees.) It may or might get up to a whopping 14. lol

I'm supposed to go to an opening at an art gallery at 5:00. I hope I find a parking space close to the shop.

Hugs!
Keeping fingers crossed!

Lori - I hope everything is done! This will be an unusual Christmas for you - but you will have your own home!!!!

So, remember I said it was too foggy and misty/rainy to do the windows yesterday. Well, it is actively raining today. But I have most of the windows done. I have to do the kitchen and dining room. I'm taking a break watching General Hospital. As soon as that is done, I'll finish. Then I have mail to sort through. And laundry. And dinner to think about.

I will say the living room windows look so much better!
