Afternoon everyone! Pulling over from the old thread...
Loribelle: Good luck with the new diet. I've given up on ever having a flat belly. I hope the cramps have gone away today.
Kristi: Yikes on the refinery fire! I'm glad you didn't have to evacuate but that's scary if you could taste it and it was burning your eyes.
Jo Jo: Hope your headache is gone! Did the girls get drastic haircuts or just trims?
Granny: Are you feeling better today? (First of all, I guess I should say I hope you can read this!) Poop in a shoe for having to wait until Friday for a new modem!
Hi Carolina! What did you find out about the bathroom wall?
Hey Hedgie! Hope you're having a great day!
I invited Shani to the new thread. Let's see if she dares to show up.
And finally, here's to well-mannered pups who will soon become gentle, sedate companions. It's a good thing they're so cute at the beginning.
The book/diet is called "The Flat Belly Diet" but I don't think I've EVER had a flat belly, even when I weighed 120 lbs.! My family is all apple shaped. Someone told my nephew, "You're an apple on 2 sticks." We all are. Thin legs/feet & round bodies. At my thinnest I had a poochy tummy! I would settle for taking a layer or 2 of the candy coating or caramel wrap off the outside of my apple! LOL!
Just took a really long nap. I drove 1/2 way to my parents house, or maybe 1/3 of the way & the car overheated. I forgot to add water before we left the house. I had water with me. We stopped at the first place we came to, which was a bbq place that has the BEST bbq ever. Nat got turkey & bread for a sandwich. Bethany got chips. I got water. LOL! They got drinks, too. I ate 1 bite of turkey. And my string cheese which I had with me.
Time to go make supper. Tonight it's brown rice, chicken & mushrooms. With Nasty WAter. I mean Sassy Water. TTFN!

Hubby's birthday was yesterday, so we're heading out for a decidedly non-flat belly diet dinner at Texas Roadhouse!
Told les!

Well, I did it! I got half my hair cut off tonight. I feel 10 pounds lighter. I'll know for sure if I like it tomorrow, once I have the chance to wash and style it my own way.
So you'll have to wait until tomorrow for the "after" picture.
The bathroom wall is still waiting.
Handyman was here and recommended we keep the "cover" (archivers' bag + duck tape) until we can work on it. And because at the moment is the only shower we could use (The other leaks to the basement) he said that if we are careful enough we can still use the shower.
Robyn K (remember her) called me today but I was in the Beltline (highway) and on my way to lunch. I told her I was going to call her later but I have not had time.
I was helping a friend with some bank problems. My friend used to live here (she's from the UK) and now she is back in the UK. She doesn't want to loose her permanent residence. So she comes back every 6 months.
One of the "requirements" is that she has to keep "ties" to this country. and a bank account will help with that. but her bank close her acc due to lack of activity and low funds. This bank requires the customers to have a minimum of $1500 at all times....
I recommended she open an acc with a credit union because I remembered something MissI said about Mr Wig opening an acc with a credit union and no maintenance fees, thanks Mr Wig!
So she did open an acc with a credit union and was happy with their terms. Also I told her that she should demand a refund of her money from the other bank. Due to lack of communication. She was a bit nervous about asking for it but I chipped in and the bank realized I was not somebody you mess with.... LOL
We stopped for a bit at HL and I bought a fiskars paper trimmer. My provocraft one used to be good. But now the blades get dull in no time. And I'm spending a lot in blade replacement and I don't even use the trimmer often. (but you all knew that much LOL)
We have the fiskars trimmer at work and it is good. We don't have to replace the blades after cutting 5 pieces of paper.
Morning - it is not even 9 and I've already cleaned up the kitchen from last night, ate breakfast and will take a shower when I'm done here. Headache seems to be under control at the moment. Woke up with low back pain though. It's always something. Am I always complaining? It sure feels like I am!
Going to finish up the laundry today and start making my list, gathering the things we need to pack. I love the beach. I wish we could go more often.
Have to go back and read over what I missed on the last thread.

Yikes...hope you're able to work on it soon!

Emergency sirens went off about 7:15 this morning as I walked to work. They are in place in case of an emergency at one of the nearby refineries (nearby as in about 5 miles away). You are supposed to shelter in place when they go off. So I speed-walked as fast as I could, and just as I got to work they sounded the all-clear siren. Turns out the first one was an accident. Nice way to get the adrenaline going early in the day.

Guess I'll do some laundry tonight so I'm ready for the weekend. Not that I have any plans, but the kids are leaving town and I may feel like getting rowdy. baa hahahhahah! (Yeah, right. )
Has anybody been or hear about Pensacola or the surrounding beaches?
If yes, what did you think/hear? Expensive or reasonable? ETC
I've been to Pensacola but it was long, long ago (1990) and you know how my memory is.
We did not stay there; we just drove there for a day trip when I lived in Mobile. It was pretty and we enjoyed the aviation museum. That's about all I can tell you.
Fort Walton Beach is another popular destination in that same area (it's east of Pensacola). Or Destin.

Granny, where in the Smokeys did you stay? If you don't mind me asking
I've been to the Smoky Mountains. We stayed in a B&B outside Gatlinburg. Wish I could remember the name of it, but again, that was a long time ago (1992 or 1993). For all I know the place isn't even in operation anymore.
There are a lot of places to stay in or around Gatlinburg; from there it's easy to drive out to places like Cades Cove, the various walking trails, the waterfalls, etc. Some of the trails to the waterfalls are easy enough for amateur hikers with only a little preparation. As I recall, each trail has information such as distance to the waterfall, amount of incline, whether there is potable water along the trail or whether you should bring your own, etc.
It's a beautiful area; I've love to go back some day. Gatlinburg itself was rather touristy (for example, at that time they had a wax museum, a "Ripley's Believe it or Not," etc), but the mountains and park areas are stunning.

Great exercise! But not very enjoyable when you're running away from a mushroom cloud. I'm glad it was just an accidental warning.

We have the fiskars trimmer at work and it is good. We don't have to replace the blades after cutting 5 pieces of paper.
I'm still using my original Fiskars trimmer. It's nothing fancy but the blades do last longer than five cuts.
I figure when I can no longer buy replacement blades, I'll have to get a new trimmer. But so far Michaels still carries the blades I need.

I worry when I can no longer buy blades, too. I usually stock up - or hoard, whichever word you prefer.
My parents should be here within the hour. I was going to go for mani/pedi this morning but since I had trouble falling asleep I could NOT get myself out of bed. Maybe I'll go later or tomorrow. I always treat myself before the beach!
Oh - I forgot to tell all of you about Bill's raffle win! He was at a business meeting in MD and he won a new IPad! It is worth $600! He was playing with it last night. It does have a lot of cool features, but we never would have bought one on our own. He was going to buy the Kindle Fire and give me his old Kindle. Both of us made out well!
Hi! I'm on day 4 of the diet. Can't tell much, but with Aunt Flo visiting, hard to tell if any bloating is gone. I'm ready to be done with this Sassy water! Took my folks to the airport this morning and am about to take a nap.

Score!! That's an awesome prize!
At times I've had 2-3 extra packages of new blades on hand (2 blades per package). I don't consider that hoarding. That's called planning ahead.

TTFN!
Hope you enjoyed your nap!
Couldn't you just drink plain water? I don't see how those other ingredients really make any difference, other than adding flavoring. Maybe it's just a trick to help people who find it difficult to drink plain water (that's not a problem for me, but as usual I tend to be the oddball when it comes to very simple things. )

All I can offer is that I spent a day there, just about 25 years ago. I drove there with my ex-fiancé who was in the Air Force stationed in Biloxi. I remember really liking it, but that was from a 19 year old's perspective (ie. plenty of eye candy, and easy access to adult beverages!). Huge help, aren't I?

But, WTH is going on at those refineries lately??
Eh, there's always something going on with them. Luckily it is usually nothing major. And unfortunately, I happen to live in an area with several of them around. And yet I pay some of the highest prices for gas in the country. Go figure.

Hope you get a chance to get out and get your pedi! I desperately need one, but never seem to have the time when places are actually open. I quite often wish that feet were removable, so I could get a pedi while doing something else!
And yay!! for the iPad win! I've played with one a few times, and would love one, but can't justify the price.
