So now we are working with a different mortuary, but the original one is throwing up roadblock after roadblock. In the meantime, MIL is all over the place. And her paper hoarding issues are getting worse. She takes page after page of notes on EVERYTHING, and then makes several photocopies of them. Then she types them up on her computer, and prints out several copies of that version.

Competition was not too good for us this weekend.

VERY humbling(sp).

We are not used to walking out without a Champonship Jacket. We are usually "the team to beat"'

Good learning experience.

There were teams from Alaska,Canada,TX,PA,MA,NJ,WA,NY,MD,OH,CA and many more.

Over 950 Squads and there can be up to 32 girls on any given Squad, not to mention coaches, parents, family and friends. BIG Competition.

That place must have been mobbed, Granny!

We have eaten dinner. I have jammies in the dryer and one more load to put in. Then I'm calling it a night. I am tired. I want to watch some TV but I think I could really fall asleep watching tonight. I haven't done that in years!

Oh Wow! I'm surprised you could even get around! Glad you are home.

It is raining/snowing right now. I thought it was too warm for snow but there are some big, chunky flakes coming down.

Hope everyone has a good day. You all deserve it.

It's cold and windy here. Snow expected on Thursday--maybe 3-6 inches but that's just an early estimate.

As Carolina would say, the Weather Guessers are having a hard time guessing. LOL

How are you Miss I? Do you have snow? It's been raining all day. I wonder if there will be flooding. I hope not.

Hey Jo Jo! Didn't mean to ditch you. Since no one had been here I posted and ran. LOL. No; I posted and went to have a bite to eat; didn't see that you had posted.

Almost all of our snow is gone. There are a few piles here and there where it hasn't melted, but most of it is gone.

Just ran out of cornstarch so will put it back on the list! Thx!

Caro-how did the big spelling bee go?

Lori-so sorry you are having trouble with food for Phil...
You are doing a wonderful job trying lots of things. Miss I's idea sounds good...plain noodles have been a staple here when recovering from illness. Or Mrs. Grasses chicken soup in the blue box. This may sound gross, but one time my Dad had an ulcer and he had to eat baby food, everything had to be blenderized.

Well, I am just schlepping around at home today, happy to just relax and putz around!

I have been mashing food, but every fruit is intolerable and some other things. The flavor or something, not consistency once it's mashed. I want to look for organic baby food b/c the regular stuff had as orbit acid which burned. It's crazy!

Hope work is better this week.

FIL had a military burial (b/c it was free). Cremated. Died in Feb and we had memorial service. Burial in APRIL. Crazy. Sorry for issues with MIL. Hugs.

Quick break from reading while Natalie deals with spilled clear nail polish on jeans. Hi JoJo and Caro! Think I replied to others, but if not hi to you all!

Just a few pages to read before co-op, but it can't be simple. We must have some chaos.

Back to reading.

Lori - I find nothing is simple - chaos rules. I don't like it, but it does!

I forgot that Phil would be dealing with painful issues but also the flavor change. I didn't have much of a problem with foods I didn't like, flavor change, etc., but I know people who did. I'm so sorry. So much to deal with . . .

Maybe omit (or reduce) the salt and pepper if seasonings irritate his mouth.

You're buying food with acid from outer space??

Or maybe you meant ascorbic acid? I can see how that would burn his mouth. Poor guy!

I couldn't eat a lot of fruits either because the acid would tear up my stomach. I still have to be careful with things like oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, kiwi, tomatoes, even raw onion. All are very acidic.

I have been wanting to stop at Whole Foods. It is near my work, but I am always too tired at night to stop. I will this week and see if they have organic baby food. Have you tried sweet potato or carrots?

Thanks, went back to work today, felt like as the day went on I got chewed up and spit out. Not sure that is how one should feel.

EVENING!

I MISS ALL OF YOU!

I do not know where the last days have gone! Well....I do but I HAVE to have a down day at some point. I am drained.

Kids are not in school this week so there has been no school pick up and that has helped.

I am trying to keep up and read, just no time to respond.

Be very very quiet - we're hunting wabbits!

Or something! We're so quiet!

I spent some time this afternoon making cards that I'm going to send to the COLE foundation for the kids with cancer. I had several pieces of DSP sitting around that I did not know what I wanted to use them for. I pulled up some sketch challenges and went to town. Made several of each design, changed up some colors and such. IF I remember to take pics tomorrow, I'll post them. I do feel comfortable using the camera now, I just forgot to do it!

Hey! Thought I'd better post while I could. Today & tonight Phil couldn't eat anything. He couldn't even get a milkshake down. I make them with ice cream & Boost type drink plus almond oil (which was helping to soothe). I think it's time for a tube. His mouth is already so dry from the radiation that dehydration is not far off. He was able to drink a fruit punch with aspartame in it, but he can't stand tea & he LOVES tea normally. I want him to call the doctor tomorrow. He NEEDS nutrition in some form.

My head hurts. I think I could have thrush. I'd been watching that b/c of my itchy top of mouth, but my tongue wasn't white until today. I looked & it's a lovely shade of white. I'll call the doc tomorrow. I had to leave the girls at co-op & come home to take vicodin with benadryl. Will do that later tonight, too.

I need to head back to Walgreen's to get Phil another type of medicine. This one has morphine in it. This is NOT fun! Stupid cancer!

On a happy note, my surgery is one month from today! I feel badly for doing that while Phil will just be finishing treatment, but I can't be bleeding every 2 weeks for 8 days! About all I could manage to do was make supper every night. Yesterday was the first day I felt like I could get out of the house & feel okay. Then today this throat/head thing came back, but I still had more energy than when I was bleeding.

That's my cranky note for the day! Love y'all!

Lori, Might be time for a tube...I know you have tried very hard to avoid this. It will allow you to relax a bit, you need to take care of your stuff too.

Hola!

Just waiting on the snow. 5-7 inches predicted later today. I'm prepared. Before the snow hits I need to go out and play lumberjack. I have a big branch to cut up. It fell out of a tree in the front yard 2 nights ago when the wind was blowing like crazy.

Lori: Sorry for the added hassle of thrush. I hope both you and Phil are feeling better today and that Phil can get some nutrition. Sending you big hugs!

Jo Jo: You're a dear heart. Would love to see your cards for the Cole kids.

Granny: Don't forget to give yourself a break once in a while! Sounds like all the running around you do is catching up with you. Take it easy -- and soon!

Caro: Whazzzzzzzzup, my lil rad Taquito??

Wench: Hope all is well and that you've had a chance to relax, too.

Hello girls!

It was 29 degrees when I took Julie to school at 11:30. It is supposed to be windy but so far it doesn't seem bad at all. I know that is probably not cold to some of you! But Lori will find it unbearable!

Lori - I feel so badly for both you and Phil.

We hopefully have things on the right path as far as getting FIL cremated. We should know more by tomorrow.

Tomorrow Will and his mom are signing paperwork giving him Power of Attorney for her. She is completely overwhelmed with everything she has to do, so this way he will be able to take most of it off her hands.

We haven't heard any more from the family member who was threatening to sue, so hopefully it was just an idle threat.

We still have a storage unit to clear out. We pulled everything out a couple of weeks ago to inventory it, but put it all back in to go through another time. The vast majority of it will be going to the dump - gross old mattress, boxes and boxes of old paperwork (utility bills from the 1990's, etc). The rest will be donated.

In the midst of all this, my mom has decided to move into a new apartment. Luckily it's less than two miles from where she is now. She's going from 2 bedrooms to one, and is leaving it up to us to figure out how to dispose of what she's not keeping. Oh goodie, more things to figure out what to do with.

Here's a first for me: I bought cookie dough instead of making my own. I bought a tub of the Nestle Tollhouse cookie dough at the store the other day. It was an impulse buy: the dough is right across from the eggs. I tried it last night by making just 6 largish cookies and I have to admit, they're pretty good. I like that the cookies stayed soft and chewy.

But almost TOO sweet. (Did I really say that?)

But everything else is good!

Kaiti has a severe case of senior-itis. She has zero motivation for anything school-related at all right now. At least she's keeping her grades up!

Ben takes his drivers license test next week. His dad has done nothing but ****** that he's not going to pass and shouldn't take the test. Way to support your kid, jerk!

Becky seems to finally have her act together and is getting her schoolwork done. That takes a load of worry off of our minds. And she's only missed one day of school so far this year, and it was a legitimate absence. So happy we seem to have reversed that trend!

WHAT?!?! Too sweet? No such thing!

The generic cookie dough is just okay, but the Tollhouse brand is a pretty good substitute for making your own.

I guess eating 2 of them in one sitting was not the best idea. Especially since they are not bite-sized.

Good to hear!

What does Kaiti plan to do after graduation?
