Lori, your MIL, my MIL, MY DAUGHTER, all the same. Actually, both of Bill's parents would be judgmental and mean like that. Bill's mother didn't really have a filter on much of what she said. I guess Marie could have gotten that from her, too.

I was going to stamp this afternoon, but the time got away from me. I'm not sure I feel like it now. On the other hand, I've almost finished the "new" cross stitch towel I started this week. I like the pattern so much better and it was quick stitching. I think I hated that other pattern so much I was just avoiding doing it. I'm weird, I know.

Any more insights for us, Miss I? And, can I just say, I'm VERY THANKFUL that Marie hasn't gotten that kind of fortune

I tried cross stitch but just could not get the hang of it. I did a lot of crewl(sp) and really enjoyed it.

I will attempt to frame some of the smaller pieces myself (I took a course in framing) but I hate it and won't spend the time to do a large piece. I told someone, I love stitching and if I do a large piece I don't want to hate it by the time I've finished framing it. I really haven't done any large pieces in awhile. I have a really cute Advent calendar that I stitched, but haven't decided how I want that finished. I also started a beautiful angel but haven't picked that up in years. I had done another one and wanted to put the two side by side. At this point, the "old" one will be faded and they certainly won't look good next to each other.

I'm doing a lot of little baby bibs, towels and small baby birth samplers. The samplers I only do for certain people though. Because the framing is so expensive.

My grandmother had pillow cases that were his and hers. Can't remember what they said. I think one of the girls have them.

Aunt Mary is in a bad way. It's sad and scary at the same time.

I'm tired so I'm going to head to bed. Not sure what I 'have' to do tomorrow. The girls have an appointment to get the flu mist tomorrow evening. It was funny, I told each girl separately that the appointment was for 7:15 Thursday. Evening. BOTH of them, gave me the "whew, evening!" when I told them! LOL

Morning!

Speaking of remembering...

Has anyone received a birthday card from me in recent days?

I've kept busy today. I worked on law files this morning, then had yummy leftovers for lunch: roasted chicken, half a roasted potato, and green beans. Since it was nice outside, I decided to rake a few leaves that I had been ignoring. I also spent some time cleaning the liquid fabric softener thingee in the washer. It was looking gunky.

Now I'm back to working on files. Fun fun fun!

I'm not a morning person anymore either. If I had my way, I'd sleep until at least 9:30 every day. Definitely NOT like Granny! LOL

I know! Isn't it crazy! I'm nearly 50 (in 2 years & a few months) & haven't made a whole turkey. Mom makes it every year & we have Christmas at MIL's. I made my first whole ham, too, this week.

Actually, I won't be making turkey tonight. Seems that when I adjusted the temp in the little fridge that MIL gave us I set it too cold. The bird's been in there since Saturday & is still frozen! I just adjusted it & am hoping by Sunday to have a thawed turkey.

I get up several times during the night to go to the bathroom. I don't have a problem going back to sleep. Falling asleep at night is the problem!

I KNOW he looks through it on the way from the mailbox to the house. I usually go through it more often but I completely forgot about it.

It took 4-5 days for my 4.5 pound frozen chicken to thaw in the fridge, and there were still some ice crystals in the middle.

You can help your turkey thaw by putting it in the sink and covering it with cold water. I think they say to change the water every hour or so. You could do this on Saturday if it still feels frozen.

I have to get up at least once to go potty; more often if I'm stupid enough to drink a bunch of liquids after supper.

I've actually been sleeping really well the last 3 nights. (I hope I don't jinx myself by saying that.) I've been falling asleep faster and only waking up once. And then getting up at a decent hour. I hope it continues! I feel so much better when I get a good night's sleep.

I rarely get up at night but when I do it is not hard to go back to sleep but if it is daylight or close to it I end up staying up.

99.9% of the time I fall asleep in my chair before going to bed. I CANNOT just go to bed and go to sleep.

I usually turn off the light and put away the computer and then I can relax and fall asleep. I will wake up several times and rewind the TV then immediately fall asleep again. That is when I know I can go to bed....LOL

I usually turn off the light and put away the computer and then I can relax and fall asleep. I will wake up several times and rewind the TV then immediately fall asleep again. That is when I know I can go to bed....LOL
I don't know how you can fall asleep in a chair and with the TV on. I'd have to be on drugs for that to happen. lol

I haven't read any of the books or seen any of the movies.

Are you going to take a nap before you go? lol

I've decided to get cleaned up and go down to the Czech Museum for their "members and volunteers" night. Normally the museum closes at 5, but they'll be open until 8, a local artist will be hand decorating/painting ornaments, and they're serving beverages I think. I thought it would be a nice chance to get dressed up a little and see the museum at night.

I was going to eat dinner early, but instead I think I'll go to the museum first and then come home and eat. I know I won't be there too long.

Miss I - that sounds lovely! I hope you have a good time. Can't wait to hear about it.

The girls have to go get their flu mists tonight. I keep reminding them so it is also reminding ME. Dinner is almost ready so they can eat and then we'll head out.

Granny - I tend to let mail sit sometimes, too. I've been much, much better about it lately. I have a basket next to the couch and I bring the mail in and sort it right then and there. However, the last three days I have not done that. We have a LOT of mail this week - the usual Christmas rush of catalogs, sales, etc. I will go through it tonight when I'm watching Big Bang Theory. BUT, don't you know? When it is your birthday week you MUST look for cards from US!!!???!!!

I'm baaack! Had a nice time. It's too bad I had to go by myself. I need to find myself a date for stuff like this!

At the museum I ran into Doug's former next door neighbor (the lady who his mom stayed with when they were here in September), and bought a few things at the museum store. They had wine and sodas, a meat/cheese/olive tray, and a tray of sweets. I had just a few nibbles of meat and cheese, one marinated green olive, and some Sprite. I decided to call that my appetizer. (FYI--yes, a mini red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting can be an appetizer! And it was deeee-lish! )

Then I decided since I was out, I'd scoot across the river to the new city market which is open on Thursdays from 4-8. Almost all of the anchor vendors are food stalls, but there are a few temporary vendors selling hand-crafted things. I found a pair of earrings to go with a new necklace I just got. The gal who made them looked like she could be my sister.

I cruised the food vendors and decided to get "tacos especial with carnitas" for my dinner. For dessert I got a chocolate cupcake (full size this time, with cream cheese frosting and mini chocolate chips). And for tomorrow, some cranberry/almond biscotti to go with my morning tea.

I was encouraged by the number of people there. This town needs more things like this for people to do. I can't wait until next summer when there will be dozens more vendors outside.

You can help your turkey thaw by putting it in the sink and covering it with cold water. I think they say to change the water every hour or so. You could do this on Saturday if it still feels frozen.
Wow, that's a long time to thaw. Putting it in water seems to be the way to go according to what folks are saying! You and your insight! LOL!
