I've got dinner cooking for the girls. I have to figure out what I want to eat. I think I am having some of the zucchini I bought today tho. They didn't have much that looked good, but I found one. I love zucchini.
Kristi - did you and your hubby both grow up in CA? One of my friends was hoping to move to CO last year. However, they needed to put it off. Now she is saying that they will probably have to stay in CA due to her health. I'm not sure why that would be, but she is disappointed. They bought property and everything. Now it is up for sale in CO.
I was hungover from celebrating the election results.
Granny - I like to cook, too. I haven't been as much lately because I'm doing Nutrisystem. Bill and the girls have been cooking their own meals. I miss cooking. I am going to have a regular Thanksgiving, will cook it and eat it.
We thought about going to my parents' but they are going to have a lot of people already. My cousin, my bro and their families. Bro and cousin are doing the cooking. However, mom's house is small and with the four of us (and adults, not two small kids anymore) and the dogs. It would be too much. I will invite everyone here next year, though!
Promise?
I'm actually kind of hoping I don't get any Thanksgiving invitations this year. I really just want to stay home and do whatever I want that day.
Lisa is in Arizona right now, and my mom got to spend some time with her yesterday! She called me while she was at mom and dad's. She both sounded horrible (because some allergies have kicked in and she was all hoarse and stuffed up) and sounded great (because she is away from her mom and having a great time). I wish I could have been there.
She asked about visiting me in late February. First she asked when the folks got home. I said early April. And then she asked when I was going to be in Arizona. I said late January. So she said, How about if I come to Iowa in late February? And in the background I heard my mother say, "So you can tear the place up because we won't be there."
baa hahahhaha! She said it so loud even *I* could hear it.
And Lisa laughed really hard like her old self. It made me happy to hear that.
Not that her problems are over, but she is long overdue for some fun and laughter.
Hey Jo Jo, are you getting snow tonight? I can't believe the NE is getting hit with another storm so soon after Sandy. One of my coworkers just got back her power over the weekend.
Morning! It is chilly, but not as cold as the last few days. And we were spared the storm here. We had the nasty, biting rain yesterday but even that wasn't bad. The roads and driveways are dry already. My parents and my brother (in CT) got about 5 inches. And I heard some areas in NY and NJ that JUST got power back has it out again. Those poor people. This has been the second awful autumn in a row. I hope it trends back the other way, soon.
I'm glad Lisa is getting out and around. How fabulous that she will come visit you in February!!!!! Lots to look forward to.
I really should put together a batch of cookies. I had promised Bill I would make some. Took some to his sister and told him I'd make more. They have to chill, then be rolled in powdered sugar then baked. Just a few more steps. However, I'm still really tired so might take a little nap first. And I want to craft some more!
Mother Nature can't decide what season it is here. It was 85ish Monday & Tuesday, 73 yesterday, and starting today it's not supposed to get above 57 for the next several days. And rain is supposedly coming this evening. I just love being to wear summer & winter clothes in the same week

Kristi - we are in that weird pattern, too. Cold today. VERY windy. And of course, some areas got snow. But by the weekend, it will be in the 60s again! Crazy!!!
At least the sun is shining brightly today. I've missed that.

I've had a busy week--I'm getting slammed with law files right now which is good, because either this month or next I'll be plunking down big bucks for new bifocals.
I had an art class tonight and enjoyed it. There were only 3 of us there so it was pretty laid back. I finished one smallish (5x7") portfolio completely and got another bigger one started, but I can't finish it because I don't have the right kind of tape to put on the binding. I may have to order some of the tape from Dick Blick because I don't think Michaels carries it.
After class I stopped to mail a couple things, then went to the grocery store, Staples, and Wally World for some stuff.
Mrs. Wig called me tonight with some news about her crazy sister Mary. Apparently she has bought herself a camper or trailer. We're really not sure exactly what she bought but apparently she thinks she can live in it in the Dallas area. We don't know if she expects Lisa to live in it with her, but I guess Lisa told her she will be getting her own place now.
Mr. Wig told Mrs. Wig, "Maybe your sister SHOULD be committed," (several people have recommended that). lol
Aunt Mary does sound very odd. Poor Lisa. I do hope she can get away and live her own life.
The sun is shining brightly today. I feel as if we've been living in dark and dreary since before Hurricane Sandy (which we have). This is very nice to see today. And warmer temps, too. In the 60s through Monday!
Granny - I wish I could pay you to clean my house. It is a disaster. I want it clean, but I have zero desire to do it.
I have eaten dinner, paid the bills, done some laundry. Looking forward to chilling in front of the tv and watching Grimm tonight at 9. I have to finish a cross stitch project, too. I am not thrilled with the pattern (a tea towel) but want to finish it. I might give it to my cousin to sell at a craft fair!
I'm going to assume that Miss I's pics are awesome! I just can't look at them because clowns give ms serious nightmares. Even friendly Mr. & Mrs. Wig clowns

I think my arm issue stems from the flu shot I got about 2 1/2 weeks ago. The first few days afterwards, I had the normal discomfort you'd expect. But it's gotten progressively worse, to the point that the pain is disrupting my sleep. My doctor called a couple of days ago to see how I was doing after being sick so much last month (which is why I let him talk me into the shot to begin with). I mentioned the arm pain to him, and he said that the needle either caused a hematoma which is now pressing against a nerve, or hit a nerve directly. Either way, there's not a whole lot that can be done. Possibly physical therapy (which I don't want to do) or steroids (no way), or he can just prescribe pain killers. It could last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. If I get desperate, I'll opt for the pain killers, but I'm trying to avoid them. But it's ridiculously painful.
Okay, I think I've reached my limit for whining for this week!

And Jo, I'm jealous of your weather! It was cold enough here overnight to snow on our little mountain. I think I'm going to have to crank up the heater for the first time this year.

Kristi - that is crazy about the flu shot/arm pain. I had my flu shot in September when I was there for my physical. I felt nothing. Didn't even feel him give me the shot! My friend was complaining about her arm hurting, too. OH my goodness!

Price of a plane ticket and FEED me for a week....LOL

Kristi, You are the second person this week I have heard having arm pain/numbness from a flu shot. I am so sorry. I can't imagine how much it must hurt. The other person has had the discomfort for 3 weeks already. I would think a hematoma would be getting smaller by now? Ibuprofen to decrease any inflammation? That is all I can think of....

Thanks Hedgie! I've been taking ibuprofen when I go to bed. That way I can get a few hours of sleep before the pain wakes me up. And I usually take some when I first get to work. According to my doctor, if it is a hematoma I'm looking at "a few weeks" but if it actually nicked a nerve it will take longer to heal.
I've spent several days whining (both to Hubby and myself) about it, so I've promised that starting today there will no more!
And, knowing me, that vow will last until noon

Morning! It is another nice, sunny day. It is warm enough that I have windows open, too!
That sounds wonderful! It's sunny here, but pretty chilly. We just walked over to our favorite breakfast place, and I had to bundle up (about a 4 block walk).

And now that I have a full belly, I need to get my rear in gear. I need/want to clean, do some baking, and at some point we're going to work on cleaning up Becky's room and getting rid of a ton of outgrown clothing, etc. And at noon we have another training class for Jack, aka the tiny terrorist!

Kristi, how's your arm today? That sounds so painful. When I got allergy shots I would bruise & swell, but that was only a small portion compared to what you have. I can only imagine the pain. Feel free to whine away! Just bring some cheese with the whine so we can enjoy a snack. I'll bring the gluten free crackers!
