Thank you. I am liking it a little better.

Agree insurance dictates doctor visits for well checks.

Decided since we were only a couple of miles from St Augustine we might should ride over there....LOL

We visited the Lighthouse and the Old Spanish Fort.

Had lunch at a little place over the water that had little trap doors where you could feed the fish bread. Gulls were fighting to get the bread.

Came back and walked on the beach for a looong time. Did not realize how far we had walked until we turned around and started back.

Lori, with our pediatrician, the yearly check-ups can't be any closer than 365 days apart. Depending on when her 13 year old check-up was, that could be why they can't schedule it until her birthday or later. But the scheduler should have been able to tell you that instead of being such a snot!

Jo, do your parents have their power back yet? Everything I'm seeing and hearing out of that area is so sad.
I'm guessing that's it. She just didn't sound too bright. When I called back it was almost like she didn't remember that we had just talked. Weird!

Kristi, we only had 2 groups come to the door but they didn't get candy. Bethany went "Asperger" and was afraid to open the door. Phil simply refused to do it. nat was gone and I was upstairs. Sigh. If I'd known I would've helped B. so she wouldn't feel shy.

Is it good candy y'all will eat that you have left over? How are you feeling. How's your mom?

Granny, that's fun that it's you & Poppa! Sounds like a great trip.

Need to pack.

Morning!

There were people on the beach this morning before daylight ,with flashlights, looking for shells.

Guess that is why the really big ones are gone.

Afternoon! I've been out around town today. Did some shopping then treated myself to lunch before coming home to watch the football game. But the game has been delayed due to bad weather (in Indiana) so I may be forced to dust and vacuum instead. lol

LAZY day today.

A couple of walks on the beach.

Sit on beach and read for awhile.

Watched part of a movie.

Poppa is lighting the grill. We decided not to go out to eat.

Then another walk on the beach before dark.

I may go out EARLY with my flashlight in the morning....LOL

Hi all! Having a lovely time in NY with Bill's sisters. We saw long gas lines in NJ on our way up. Just heartbreaking to see those long lines with police at the stations to keep people from going nuts. We also saw LOTS of power service crew trucks (LOTS) from Quebec and several army trucks, some loaded with cases of water, heading south as well.

My parents called tonight and they FINALLY have power. It was five days they were without.

We're heading home tomorrow so I'll catch up.

Had a little more time so I read back.

Granny - I LOVE that haircut. I think it is really cute!!!! If I can lose enough weight to actually get my neck back I will get a cut something short like that. I did my hair today before we went out and it came out pretty nice. I need a haircut so I wasn't sure. Last week was so crazy that I never got to make the phone call.

While talking to my SIL this weekend, we were commenting on some of Marie's weird issues. I really do think she has Asperger's. I just wish she would agree to some help.

It is only 10 and I'm exhausted. Marie fell asleep on the couch. Julie and Bill are reading. I'm thinking of heading to bed. It is pretty comfy for sleeping. It was a little more firm than I like but I woke up without a sore back! We're heading home tomorrow as we get moving. I want to check a grocery store up here for a tea we can't get in PA. I also wanted to check a Michael's or ACMoore since they often have different things.

Hola!

I am up waaaaaay too early this morning. Darn daylight saving time. I wish we could just stay on normal time year round.

Discovered Mad Men reruns on AMC at 5:00 a.m. (episodes from last season). And I thought of a couple things I need from Wally World so I got up to write them down before I forget. But maybe I can fall back asleep for a while. I need all the rest I can get because I need to clean house today AND rake leaves. Blech. LOL

Hello!

Speaking of peeping....

A (male) landlord in Iowa City was caught peeping through a hole into a (female) tenant's bathroom as she was showering. She caught the dirty buzzard red-handed!

They found similar peep holes (next to vents) in several other apartments he owns. He's been charged with something (can't remember now what the wording was, invasion of privacy maybe?), and there may be more charges from others, but there's nothing in the city code to prevent him from continuing to own and rent properties if he's convicted. WTH?

Glad your folks finally got power and that they didn't have any other major problems due to the storm, but what a PITA. And it's expensive to replace everything in the fridge and freezer in one fell swoop.

There are electrical techs from Iowa out there somewhere, too. They left here last weekend so that they'd be in place before the storm even hit.

Now their employer is working with the auditor's office to make sure they can all get absentee ballots, because it doesn't look like they'll be back in time to vote.

Good morning! So nice to have an extra hour this am!!

Waffles sound good, be right over!

I am thinking of putting a turkey breast in a crockpot for the week. I have been making crockpot soups, stews, chili's and freezing....cuz I start my new job this week and know I am going to be stressed, tired and hungry!
I could cut the turkey into portions and freeze as well I would think.

We had a dusting of snow yesterday. Need to get the patio chairs in and cover up the table today too. I really hate that job because they have to come inside, and be carried down a flight of stairs to the basement. But I will survive! I have noticed when girls are visiting, no one ever volunteers to do that for me!!

We're home! Everything is unpacked and the suitcases just need to be put up in the attic. That was record time for us.

When I sleep on a firm bed at my mom's my back hurts the whole time we are there. There must have been something about this one. My sleep number is usually set quite low and that is the only thing that helps my back. Except lately.

I discovered that Albany NY has Hobby Lobby!! Of course, I discovered that today when they are closed. Interestingly enough, HL and ACMoore are in the same shopping center just a few doors apart. Then you cross the major road to a newer shopping center with a Michael's. A beautiful, very stamping, scrapbook friendly Michael's. I could have spent hours in there. I did find a few things in both stores. But still kept the total cost about $60. I didn't buy any paper but saw some nice stuff. We were also a bit short on time so I didn't want to linger too long.

GLAD you made it home safe and sound.

We are home too but not unpacked and put away.

Poppa unloaded the car while I sat on my butt....LOL

I drove there and back(over 900 miles if you add in sightseeing)so I am not unloading the car.

TKS! Large motor homes were all up and down the interstate,so I was telling Poppa about the Wigs and he asked me if they towed a car with them.

Yes, they tow a GMC Terrain (SUV). Easy peasy. It tows flat (not on a trailer); all they have to do is hook it up and unplug one fuse. This is not possible with all vehicles. They also have a car protector shield they put on to protect it from any rocks that might come flying back from the motorhome.

Just FYI in case you're thinking of getting a motorhome and want to tow a car behind.

I am SO SICK of the g-d political calls!

And it angers me to hear about all of the problems people are having trying to early vote. I hope all of you who are waiting until Tuesday don't have any difficulties. You might want to take a lawn chair and a cooler with food and drink, in case you end up waiting in line for a long time.

Welcome home! Glad you had a little time to roam around the stores.

We don't have AC Moore here, but I think our Michaels is one of the better ones in terms of getting new things for stampers and scrappers. Probably because the nearest Hobby Lobby and Michaels is a 45 minute drive from here. Plus we have no AC Moore, Archivers, or Jerry's Artarama, and our tiny pathetic JoAnn's store had very little paper crafting stuff. Now our Michaels has competition from the humongous new JoAnn's which is on the same road just a mile or so away. I'm curious to see if that makes a noticeable difference in what Michaels carries.

When I was coming home yesterday I drove past the scrapbooking store where I used to teach, and there was a (poorly made) handmade sign out front that I thought said "Closeout." I don't think I've been in there all year, because they don't carry much that fits my style AND it seems like when I did go in there for something basic like Bazzill cardstock, they would be out of the color I wanted. Once our Michaels started carrying Bazzill, I just bought it there.

When I got home I looked up the scrapbooking store's website, and although they don't come right out and say "we're closing on <date>" because of <xyz>, they are having an ALL SALES FINAL sale. One of their instructors posted on the blog that her class in October was the final one because the store was closing.

Makes me wonder what is going on, but based on the way they ran the store, I'm surprised it stayed open this long.

I drove there and back( over 900 miles if you add in sightseeing)so I am not unloading the car.
Welcome home!

That's quite a haul, Granny. Doesn't Poppa like to drive? What city were you in/near?

We had an early call as well. I will so happy when this election is over!!!

I went to Hobby Lobby's website and found that the one I found in Albany was THE one in the area. There aren't any others! Bummer, I would have loved to shop there - wish I'd discovered it on Saturday!!! However, there is one in PA. A bit of a drive, but if we're looking for something to do . . .
