I will see what all is in there and pass it on. Probably not until I get home from yje beach.

Spoooooky! LOL

I'm not a Stephen King fan. I've seen a couple movies based on his books, but have never actually read any of his books.

Speaking of books...

I went to the Friends of the Public Library book sale today and CLEANED UP. I got a big canvas tote bag full of yummy stuff to use in my art: foreign language books, music books, FOREIGN MUSIC , a couple history books with great old photos and fun illustrations, a nature atlas with beautiful illustrations of flora and fauna. I don't think anything is newer than the early 1970s, and most of the books are much earlier than that. The cute music books are from the 1930s. All for a mere 8 bucks.

TMI: If I wasn't suffering severe gas from that gyros I ate yesterday, I might have been able to stay longer and grab even more stuff. LOL

ETA: Please don't quote TMI section of this message. baa hahahha!

I just talked to my mom. No pictures yet but she asked Kathy about helping her with that at some point because Jackie (the friend in Illinois who stayed home with the aging MIL) wants to see them, too.

They made it to the finals in the costume contest but did not win. They had to tell almost everyone who they were.

Lisa and I built a building on a pad where you could push a button and see if it could survive an earthquake.

Oooh, that sounds cool! Did your building survive?

I love interactive stuff like that at museums. Why should kids be the only ones for whom learning is "fun."

GOSH DARN IT!

I had some Halloween-themed Wendy's coupons (for Frostys) to send to the folks with their Halloween card and treat boxes, and I forgot to include them.

I can mail them tomorrow with the casino flyer that came in the mail for Dad. It includes *coupons* for the casino that is closest to them in Arizona, and he definitely wants the coupons. LOL

Schools closed tomorrow and Tuesday. Julie's college is closed tomorrow but I expect they'll close Tuesday as well. Most trains into Philadelphia are cancelled. Several friends have said their businesses are closed. Some NEVER close so this is serious. It does seem our area (southern Jersey and the Philly area) will be seeing a pretty hard hit. We're expecting anywhere from 6- 10 inches of rain. I talked to my mom and they are "only" expecting 2-4 inches of rain.

We'll do what we can.

I guess prepare for the worst, hope for the best. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not as bad as they think.

Our office is closed tomorrow (all federal offices in DC are closed and we follow what they do). Not sure yet about Tuesday.

They reported on our news that a bunch of local electrical workers are heading out east to help. They were leaving today.

Caro-hugs! I could sense the tension. I am sorry if I was too forward. Is it the grey haired lady? Am not sure who is in charge...just know that something has not felt right in there the last few times I have stopped in. And I could see it on your face....sorry hun.

The storms hasn't even hit yet and I am not liking what I see. I'm wearing my Bethany Beach (Delaware) sweatshirt in support of my vacation spot. I'm sure they are going to get hit hard. There is someone reporting from Rehoboth Beach which is just north of BB.

It has been steadily and heavily raining since sometime during the night. The winds are really beginning to kick up. I'm worried, I'll admit it.

We are really pretty far inland. It is just this crazy storm is headed our way! And then up through central PA and NY. It really worries me when they keep saying people could be without power for weeks. Not days.

We lost power once already. Marie did not handle it well. She was angry with me and was complaining that it didn't come on fast enough. If we are without power for weeks, just kill me.

Wow--talk about misdirected emotion. No words, Jo Jo. Call me if you need to vent and can get a line out. I'll be up late. Even if the phone rings after 10:00, I will answer.

I found some old postcards in a couple of the books I bought yesterday at the library sale. Two of them aren't that old (1960s), but they're both written in German. One was mailed within the U.S. and had U.S. stamps on it. A girl was writing to her grandma about their Christmas plans. The other one was mailed from Germany to the same U.S. address. The handwriting is hard to read but in part it wishes them a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

The other card is from the 1940s and is an index card that was typed (mimeographed!) with a little form for people to fill in whether they "will donate to war effort" or "will sell" scrap metal, rubber, or rags. Then it says, "Tin cans collected by city." It's hard to imagine people today pulling together for the war effort the way they did during WWII.

Oh--the other postcard is from 1952 and is an advertisement in French for a chamber music concert. It looks like the person used the back of it as scratch paper, as it's covered with notes in French.
