Granny - we all have good week and bad weeks. I'm still on a bad one, but you are doing so well. I just have so much more weight to lose than the average person!

It's just one week, Granny. A few days. A little detour. You can still find your way back to the main road.

I gained a pound.

I have still lost 10.8 so I can live with that.

We're supposed to get up to 80 degrees today. I'm going to the store wearing SANDALS. (First time this year.)

Guess it's time for a pedicure.

Storms predicted later. Every day this week, actually.

I have flip flops on now! I think I might treat myself to a pedicure the end of the week.

I wore the new red Clarks I bought at the end of the season last year. They are SUPER comfy.

My feet don't look gnarly or anything--I just need to paint my toenails. And maybe trim a couple of them. I don't mind doing it myself, as long as I can still reach them.

And I wore my $2 CJ Banks top that I got at the end of the season last year. (Original cost $39. I never would have paid that for a glorified t-shirt.)

How much is gas costing in your area right now?

I filled up for $3.23 at Walmart (ethanol blend), after I saw some of the other gas stations (along my way to the store) had jumped up to $3.39. We don't see a wide range in gas prices in our town, so once one station goes up, they all seem to jump to the same price.

The other octanes were $3.33 and $3.43.

Our flip flops never get put away. Yesterday was 84 but it felt like it was in the 90's. Then a slight cool front came through with a good long shower. Nice!

Off to Hobby Lobby & to deliver a PC order I forgot to take to the Girl Scout banquet last week.

TTFN!

Gas is free here if we eat the right foods. ha, ha, ha! Actually, ours is about what you have seen. The lowest I've seen is $3.15. It goes up & down like an elevator.

LORIBELLE! That reminds me...

I opened the jar of PC chocolate raspberry sauce and it is sinfully delicious! I could eat it straight out of the jar. (What am I saying? I *have* eaten it straight out of the jar! ) The flavor reminds me of something that I've had before but I don't know what--maybe come German candies or a truffle that was also chocolate and raspberry (one of my favorite combinations).

And it also reminds me that I was going to buy a pound cake (mix) at the store to put the sauce on. Maybe next time.

If I remember.

It got up to 88 degrees here today! It's feeling pretty toasty. I'm even wearing shorts (not in public, of course). lol

That chocolate raspberry sauce sounds yummy - like I need anything more to make me eat! I'll have to look for it next time I order.

Talked to my brother tonight and he sounds very, very worried about my parents. The last two times I talked to them they both sounded good. My brother thinks we should spend more time with them. I know he's worried. I am, too. The plan for now is to go up about once a month. Bro lives an hour away, it is easier for him. I really wish Julie had her license so I more flexibility. I have to remind her. Again.

My mom does, too, and my dad gets the biggest kick out of it because her boobs stop anything from reaching her lap.

I have a bunch of old t-shirts that are just for "around the house." They're already stained or have ink or paint on them, so one more drip isn't going to matter that much.

But the one I had on today was one of my "newer" ones and it still looks half decent. lol

Do you make her drive everywhere? You should. Even if it's just to the grocery store. The more she drives, the more comfortable she'll become. Have Bill take her out to the fairgrounds or someplace where there are roads but no traffic, and just let her drive drive drive.

I can understand your brother's worries. Seeing your folks more often will allow you both to assess better how things are going. We stepped up our visits to my grandpa as he got older (after my grandma died). We would do some cleaning, cook a meal, and just spend a whole day with him (or even overnight). Sometimes I would go by myself on a Saturday or Sunday (1.5 hour drive) so my mom (1 hour drive) could have a break.

Have any of you ever watched The Little Couple of TLC?

They're a married couple, both with dwarfism. The wife is a doctor in the NICU at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. She's barely taller than a yardstick. The husband has/had some time of customer service training business in New York, and now with the in-laws has opened a pet store. They have 2 dogs but no children. She's too small to carry a child (because it could be a regular-sized baby in spite of both of them being little people), so last season they went through the whole process of genetic testing, harvesting eggs and sperm, and in vitro fertilization with a surrogate. Unfortunately, the process failed so they also explored adoption. I think they've adopted a child now.

They're a really fun and interesting couple. They built a HUGE house last year, too, a two story "Florida coastal" style home. Everything was customized to fit them--lower cabinets and fixtures, an elevator, etc.

Anyway, the season premiere of their show is tonight at 9:00 central. Mom and I plan to watch.

Mom and I have always said we wished we lived just a little closer. My brother is the ideal - about an hour.

Julie tried to get an appointment using the online services. There weren't any times/dates available - they were going to give an update tomorrow or something. We may have to call to make the appointment. I remember someone telling me there was a trick to getting an appointment, but I don't remember what it is.

I plan to make a meal or cook while there. I'd like the girls to come but not the dogs. I haven't mentioned this to all of you (because I'm not happy about it), but Marie did get the other dog. He isn't a bad dog, but he is big and still very young. I will NOT take him on trips. He's too big and honestly takes up too much room. I don't want to take the other dogs either. If we all went, I'd get someone to stay at the house. We have options. However, this month, I might want to go just myself and possibly Bill. I'd bring the girls next visit.

What other dog?? How did that happen? What breed is he?

I don't blame you for not wanting to take the dogs. That would be like taking 4 little kids along, and you don't need the extra hassle.

Yep--a little boy from China. He has dwarfism and is between 2 and 3 years old. Sounds like next week the show will show them going to China.

Like I said, I haven't wanted to talk about it. You all know I was not happy about the decision.

He is a plothound mix (probably boxer sized). He isn't a bad dog, but he is young (only a few months old), clumsy and big. I have discovered I am definitely NOT a big dog person. Just having him in the living room causes me to have panic attacks. He is downstairs most of the time. I am NOT happy. I won't even go into all of it - this was supposed to help Marie, remember? Well, I don't see that happening - of course, but no one listens to me about this.

Oh Jo. You and Bill need to have a serious talk.

People *do* return dogs, you know. Sometimes a dog just isn't a right fit, or it's not the right time, and it's no one's fault.

Talk won't help. Been there, done that. This is the one area where he will not agree with me. And, honestly, once an animal is in our house it doesn't go. As long as he stays downstairs and out of my hair, it isn't too awful. He is a very friendly dog and loves people. He whines a lot. Is a big baby.

Now, if someone could find her a husband - I would really appreciate it. And I'm not kidding.

I'm fighting another headache today. Not a grainer, just a bad headache--the kind where your head hurts in a certain spot if you bend over, sneeze, etc. Stinkarooni!

I've had a bad week with them. Last week I blamed them on Aunt Flo. This week, I don't know. Maybe it's the weather. The state is split in half by a front--it's in the 80s in SE Iowa (and sunny), only in the 30s in NW Iowa (and raining). We're in the 70s right now but the cold stuff is heading our way tonight and tomorrow.

Weather often affects me. I started taking my allergy meds again, too. So far so good. Surely, I just jinxed myself!
