Carolina - that is way too much "excitement" for any day - at night - OH MY!!!! I hope you all get some rest later.

I took Julie to school and when I came home I could here the birds chirping away and it feels like spring. I know some people got pounded with snow but I'm thankful for what we have here today! Not any sun to speak of but warmth and birds chirping!

Cleaned out the pantry to try and make more room. All I did was INCREASE the size of my grocery list....LOL

Uh oh! I have to clean out my pantry. I have Tupperware/Rubbermaid stuff that I need to sort through. I'm hoping to make some room by clearing out old, mismatched and such.

I just threw out a bunch of things that had no lids or even stranger,no bottoms.

Luckily I buy the cheap stuff so I don't cringe as bad when I have to toss it.

My March schedule is so full(even for me)I don't even want to think about it.

If I disappear for a day or two don't worry.

I will always let you know if something is wrong.

Granny - I have mostly inexpensive stuff, too. The Tupperware that I do have is getting old and some of it is cracking (probably from the dishwasher). I don't bother replacing it. Some of the containers have been discontinued anyway. I just need to really go through it. Maybe tomorrow.

Julie's friends are here again. They are eating my leftovers for dinner (yeah). My house isn't always the cleanest but her friends spend more time here than she does at their house. Marie's friends, too, but that was usually because of her comfort level.

So, we're cleaning out the fridge for dinner: pizza, meatloaf, pizza burgers (like sloppy joes), salad. I am going to make broccoli so I can have that with my meatloaf. Then I can start planning again. I really need to plan smaller meals though because my family all hate eatnig leftovers. Well, Bill and I will eat them, but I always have too much leftover.

At 3:15ish we were awakened by an "explosion like" sound no exaggeration here. Like half of our house blew or something. All the windows shook. It was a ginormous thunder. Everybody was awake in our house and the little darlings were too scared to go to their bedroom and sleep on their own. So the 4 of us squished in our bed (queen size). There was some chatting and finally the boys were calmer but still stayed. (another 20+ mins after the shock)
Then at 4:30am the door bell rang (kind of freaky). It was the police...... I know what you are thinking: NOPE they were not here to catch me Bwhahahahahaha They were here to inform us that there was a gas leak about 3 blocks from here (caused by the lightning that preceded the thunder I presume). We were just outside of the perimeter of houses that needed to be evacuated so no need to leave the house or worry (YEAH RIGHT!)....... at 5 am DH was up and doing some work. At 6 the kiddos were up and going and it has been yet another non-stop day

I bet you are jealous of me now *giggle*
Look at it this way. You can tell all your friends that you had 3 men in your bed, and...yadda yadda yadda...You didn't get any sleep at all.

I don't know about all of your dads, but you can bet that if my dad took all of us kids to a restaurant on free pancake day, we would not be ordering anything OTHER than pancakes! He probably wouldn't even let us look at the menu. lol

Morning!

Hi Miss I! I've been mising you. Saw that you've been creative though as I was checking out your blog.

It is a bit dreary here today. No rain or snow, but cloudy. I think we're due for more rain tomorrow. An indication of how mild a winter we've been having: we have a birdfeeder just outside my craft room window. Usually we have to fill it two or three times (at least) during the winter months. We filled it ONCE this winter and it still has food in it. Obviously, the birds are finding plenty of food sources! I'm not complaining though.

I have to pick up in the living room. My MaryKay lady is coming this afternoon. This place has to look better than this. It is always a disaster when she comes. And I still let her in!

Hi! Natalie did her nails last night after seeing a picture Shani had posted on FB for Erin to see. Our Shani & Erin, that is! Here's Nat's version:

Kindly ignore the white pasty leg under the hand! LOL!

My dad grew up so dirt poor that once he was able to spend money on people, he did, but it was always budgeted tightly b/c Mom did the books! LOL! Now, MIL would have us eat the free pancakes AND get water to drink. Period. She grew up poor, but on a farm, so it wasn't really the same as my dad growing up with a single mom mostly in the city. MIL is just German. ha, ha, ha!

Oh for sure. It would just the special. When at a restaurant the very least expensive sandwich, we'd split fries, etc...but I was fed well as a child so I am thankful for that. They just didn't want to waste money! Both lived through the depression and wasting money, food, anything was just appalling especially to my Mom.

Added note: I remember we grocery shopped on Friday night after eating at Big Boy or going out for fish fry. Maybe I was 7? On the way home my Dad said to my Mom....we spent $25 on groceries. Now that is way too much...we are going to have to watch it! Three ppl for an entire week of food....

Just checking in. So far we are okay storm wise. Suppose to hit us after 11:00. I do not like night time storms.

Granny take care...I know the night storms are hard...Should you just plan to sleep in a lower level with a weather radio beside you?

Night time storms are definitely the worst. I hope and pray no more people are injured in these horrible storms. So scary.

Lori - Nat did a great job on her nails. And I wouldn't have realized they were someone's legs.

Rough early evening thru midnight.

Haven't seen our weather guy that serious in a long time.

Put Kensley in the closet with a helmet on a one point.

I'm glad you're OK, Granny. The devastation from those storms is unreal. So many deaths and so early in the season!

I gotta get out of this house, even if it is cold and I didn't shovel the snow we got yesterday. I think I'm just going to let it go, since it's not deep at all and we're supposed to be in the 50s by Tuesday.

I have had no pep and I have a lot of places I want to go today; hope I can hold up. I may treat myself to lunch somewhere, and maybe even go to a matinee. The second-run movie theatre is showing The Artist and the matinee is only $4.00.

CYL!

Granny, glad you are okay.

For those not on FB, or if you missed it, TJ was also in the closet with her kids during the storm. She posted this on Facebook

Granny - glad everyone is okay. I dread watching the news and seeing the pictures. I have family in many areas and, of course, lots of friends. How was Kensley through all this? I think my girls would have been absolutely terrified.

Miss I - I hope you enjoy your outing. I've been worried about you but haven't had a chance to give you a call.

Bill and I are going out to lunch and then to an RV show. Something different, inexpensive and fun! He seems interested but I don't want to get my hopes up!

Of course, I'm dealing with a headache today so we'll see how it goes.

The same system that hit next to us went right over her.

Kensley was fine. She did not know to be scared and we did not act scared.

We were not having storms just dead calm.

Thunderstorms do not bother her because we never make a big deal out of them.

See if these will load.

Took the bottom shelf out of the hall closet to make a safe spot.

Did you show him the pictures of my parents' rig and their park in Arizona??? That might persuade anyone to buy an RV.

Jo, even if you had called, you might have gotten only a busy signal. I've had the phone off the hook a lot this week, as I've been sleeping at strange hours.

And having LOTS of strange dreams!

I didn't get to all of my errands. And I didn't go to the movie. I got sidetracked at the mall when I ran into my aunt and cousin! Talk about a surprise (my cousin lives near Minneapolis which is a good 5 hour drive away; my aunt lives about 20 miles from here). They were shopping for an outfit for my aunt and uncle's 65th wedding anniversary party this summer. Colleen said they were starting early because it's hard to convince her mom to buy anything new. But she ended up finding a really pretty top, 2 pairs of pants, and even jewelry to go with! I told the gals at the store, who know me, that that was my favorite aunt and they took extra special care of her.

Initially I went to the mall to look for Miche bag stuff, but that store has quit carrying them. Apparently the company is going to "home" parties only instead of having their bags in retail stores. Needless to say, that was not happy news for me. Besides Marylee, I have no one else I could invite to a home party for purses. LOL

I took myself to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. It's not our "Margarita Girls" place and the food isn't as good, but it was OK.

Then I went to the grocery store and guess what I bought for the first time in years? GIRL SCOUT COOKIES! A dad was there with his daughter. He was wearing a Thin Mint costume which was hysterical. And he was doing all the work while she just sat there. Kids these days. When *I* sold Girl Scout cookies (back in the Dark Ages), we actually went door to door. LOL

When I bought some last week the kids were all texting and talking to each other while the mothers did everything.

I understand the no door-to-door BUT I think the girls should really be made to put forth some effort. Especially at a public booth/table.

Aloha!

I haven't bought any GS cookies this year, and really hope not to. I just can't afford it, diet-wise. But I did eat a Tagalong yesterday while I was getting my hair done. Just one - I was so proud of myself, as those are my absolute favorites!

Glad you're okay, Granny! Those storms look so scary. I think I'd be scared out of my mind during a tornado warning. It seems almost as scary as an earthquake, but at least you usually get a bit of warning. It's just awful reading about all the damage and destruction from yesterday. So so sad.
