Yankee Candle sells the car vent sticks; several in a package and they're not too pricey (often "older" fragrances are on sale). But if you have to buy 36 or more of them...? I don't know what your budget is. You might be able to find knock-offs at a dollar store.

One or all. Just depends on how "into" it you want to get.

We are doing the main goodie bag for the entire cabin.

We will do some small stuff geared to appropriate ages on a few other nights but not all of them.

You sign up by cabins and list how many people, gender and age in your cabin.

Sounds like fun, Granny.

Today Julie and I helped and attended a bridal shower for her friend who is getting married next month. We were a little late in getting there to help set up so I made sure we stayed longer to clean up. I did most of the dishwashing in the kitchen. I was thanked so many times, but I do that in my own church and feel very comfortable taking care of that!

The bride is a Sherlock Holmes fan so the shower had an afternoon tea theme with a puzzle for the bride to solve. It was very sweet. We all had cards with British phrases. I brought home two cards. It fits with the title of our thread. I'll try to fit in some of the phrases. The website she used wasn't the same ones posted from our thread. She didn't remember the name of it.

Sounds like a fun bridal shower theme, JoJo. Definitely unique! Can't wait to hear some of your British phrases.

I got my grocery shopping done today. Also got fresh ingredients to make spaghetti to take to the family reunion tomorrow. I'll wait and make it fresh in the morning, but I brewed a batch of tea tonight so it can get cold overnight.

I'm so glad we're going to be inside tomorrow! I'm kinda "over" sitting in lawn chairs at a park, sweating like crazy and getting eaten alive by the bugs. And then throwing away any leftover food because of the heat and the flies.

Not sure if I told you about them last time we went.
People sign up to do "Secret Santa" type stuff. They are called "Fish Extenders" and you make/buy custom hangers with decorated pockets with your names on them. You hang these outside your stateroom and people "sneak" and put stuff in them.

We made/will make....

36 Pens where you put Disney Paper in them.
36 Luggage type tags to put on little bags that we will fill with goodies.
36 Bookmarks with Disney stuff on cardstock and laminated.

36 is the # to date. The group will be open for a couple more weeks then closed so it does not get out of hand.
We have notepads, bubbles, the pens, bookmarks and candy to fill the bags.
We have puzzles, twisty straws and a few little thing that will be put in daily.
Need a few more things but still brainstorming.
That sounds super fun Granny.

How about glow sticks, chapstick, crystal light thingies to flavor your water, gum

We watched Despicable Me 2 this morning, omword it is hilarious a must watch for all ages.

Then a quick lunch and off to the Devil's Lake with friends.
We were thinking of going to a concert with a bunch of friends tonight but when we came back from the lake we were p00ped and just wanted to chill at home.

The weather was so nice!

I was thinking about doing a matchbox style card with maybe some crystal light in it.

Did not sleep well or much last night. After church I took a nap. I still have a slight headache - it is what happens when I don't get enough sleep. I also get grumpy - as you can tell, I'm probably grumpy A LOT!

Our pastor did a rap version of the Good Samaritan for the children's sermon. I love this man. If only he weren't a Yankee fan. tee hee

Hola! It's been a looooong day and I am probably going to bed as soon as I finish typing this note. Aye tarred.

I stayed up late last night to make a bunch of ATC-sized mixed media collages featuring old photos of my dad and his siblings when they were kids. I thought they turned out really cute, considering the small number of photographs I had to work with--and some of them are not the best photographs (a little blurry, a little over-exposed, etc). And then you're dealing with a copy of a scan, etc.

Oh--and making sure that all 13 kids were represented! That was a challenge! This morning I realized that I had one of my aunts misidentified (they all looked alike at that age), so I had to quickly go in search of a new photo that included the missing aunt. Crisis averted, but it meant I got little sleep last night.

We were busy in the kitchen this morning. Mom made a meatloaf to take to the reunion. I made a big pot of spaghetti (filled up my large Crockpot). Dad cleaned and diced up a watermelon yesterday to take. And I took a jug of iced tea. We came home with just a little bit of tea.

The reunion was fun. It was SO NICE to be inside. It was a little crowded, and there were some hurt feelings related to some people bringing NO FOOD at all for their ENTIRE family, yet filling their plates with heaping piles. Versus those who either brought more than their fair share or, because they are from out of state, spent money to purchase take-out food once they got here. And I think my deceased cousin's wife was mad that I didn't include her in the drawing for my cards. But I'm sorry--I decided it was open to only the aunts and uncles who actually appear in the photos I used, and their children (meaning my generation of cousins). I figured they would be the ones who would appreciate the cards the most, and they must be present to win because they got to pick which card they wanted. So that meant no in-laws, no collecting a card for someone who wasn't at the reunion, and no deceased people were eligible. It was my art to give away, so I got to decide how it was going to work.

Like the saying goes, "No good deed goes unpunished." I think most of the people who won a card appreciated them; a couple did not. One cousin didn't even want to put her name in, because "she already had the photo" that her mother appeared in. OK, fine by me. And then my overbearing aunt, who hoarded most of the family photos when grandma died, actually won one of the cards and then gave it away because "I already have that photo."

Yeah...but you don't have that photo as part of an original piece of art by your niece! At least she gave the card to Chris, my favorite cousin (who won her own card, so she's thrilled to have 2 of them).

I guess some people just can't appreciate art or the spirit of giving.

Other than that, I had a good time. I do have some nice cousins who I don't get to see often. And I'm so excited that next week, when we go to Des Moines for the 50th wedding anniversary party, that we are also going to take some time to visit my cousin Chris!

We got home around 4:30 and did up all the dishes. Then Mom decided we needed to empty and move the shelf next to the water heater, because we don't know when they'll be bringing the new one. That led to more cleaning in the laundry room.

Leftover pizza for a light supper.

Get ready for bed. lol

JoJo, I didn't realize you were so prejudiced. Would it be better if he were a Mets fan? lol

I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight. When is your appointment with your sleep specialist?

Here are some of the cards I made to give away at the reunion today, to give you an idea of what they looked like. I fussy-cut all of the photos and adhered them to a collaged background. The edges were finished with a dark acrylic paint dabber and then a metallic acrylic paint dabber. There were 9 cards in total.

In the last photo: my dad is the tyke on the right wearing the big smile. He was such a cutie! Actually, most of the kids were pretty cute--especially the ones who took after Grampa. And my dad is almost a spitting image of him. LOL

YES. I was a Mets fan before they were any good (back when I was a little girl). Of course, they aren't doing so well now. Notice how I'm using Mets colors, here.

I go to my sleep doctor on the 31st. I have Lunesta I can still take. I really hate to do it, but I think I'm going to for a bit. I know stress can cause sleep issues. I may be more worried about Marie than I realize.

Unbelievable drama the first 36 hours or so of our trip, but things should hopefully be improving. I'll explain more later, but the bottom line is that inviting my MIL along was the biggest mistake we've made in a long, long time. But, after a huge fight she had with Will last night, and enough nastiness towards me and my kids that I spent a huge chunk of last night sobbing, we put her on a plane home today. And now the fun begins!!

Oh my! Sorry for all that. I'm glad you sent her home. I would never have been able to vacation with my inlaws. We have with my parents. It's so weird/funny how different it can be.

I had a colleague in NYC who was a big Mets fan. Poor sap is like some of the Cubs fans I know. (P.S. If you hadn't told me those were Mets' colors, I wouldn't have known.)

Do what you must to get some good sleep until you see the doc. Your health depends on it! Don't make me worry about you.

I'm dragging today. The marathon card-making Saturday night into Sunday morning, cooking dinner in the MORNING, a long day of socializing and being on my feet at the reunion, a bunch of dishes to do when we got home, the cleaning we did in the basement...I was pooped by the time I went to bed last night. And I didn't get to bed as early as I wanted to.

I need to do laundry today, but had to move the empty shelving unit out of the way first, so I can hang things on the line. I'd like to know when I can quit moving stuff around down here. LOL

It's supposed to be hot and humid the next few days, but it sounds like the weather will be better by Saturday, when we have our road trip for the anniversary party. Which reminds me, I need to make a card for them. I have no ideas yet (50th wedding anniversary).

But, after a huge fight she had with Will last night, and enough nastiness towards me and my kids that I spent a huge chunk of last night sobbing, we put her on a plane home today. And now the fun begins!!
Home is a good place for her.

I go to my sleep doctor on the 31st. I have Lunesta I can still take. I really hate to do it, but I think I'm going to for a bit. I know stress can cause sleep issues. I may be more worried about Marie than I realize.
Do what you need to get some rest.

I am sure you have said before and I feel awful I do not remember but can Marie live on her own? Not that I am trying to say to move her out.,just wondering.

In the last photo: my dad is the tyke on the right wearing the big smile. He was such a cutie! Actually, most of the kids were pretty cute--especially the ones who took after Grampa. And my dad is almost a spitting image of him. LOL

These are AWESOME. I can see why they took you so long.

3rd and final load of laundry (for today) is in the washer. The clothesline is full!

I'll wait until tomorrow to do sheets.

Thanks, Granny. I was happy with them. I hope the people who got them appreciate them.

I want her to move out, but she can't. She really does have bad anxiety. I know that in my head, but there are some days I just can't deal with it. She won't use the phone, can't go places by herself, etc. She does get terrified.

Miss I - those were really cute cards and very thoughtful. You are right, no good deed . .. .

I didn't accomplish anything today either. I have lots of laundry AND I want to stamp. However, I need to clean up that room first. Hence, the bigger problem!

If you buy a house could you use the garage or part of a basement if you have one and portion off an area for her? Let her "be on her own" still at home?

If she had a kitchennet could she use it and do her own laundry etc?
