Jean, I think you're going to have to share a link to that post now. I'm going to need to see that photo!
You're up late - sorry you haven't been feeling well. There's some stuff going around right now, it seems.

I went and looked at all of the designers' pages this morning. They ARE very talented--they have a lot of followers and it's evident why.

Me? A dork? You know me so well.

Jean - sorry to hear you're still feeling puny. Keep your cooties in Florida!

Well, the CEO just left my office - I didn't get the job. Not surprised really. I'm good enough to do the job but not good enough to get paid for the job. Just as well, I won't have as much work then to do going forward - I just wanted more money. Oh well. Guess we'll have to settle for laminate floors as opposed to real hardwoods in the new dining room. LOL

In other news...here's my bee-otch face story for the week. So, the boys stayed overnight Wednesday. Joe dropped Joey off at the bus stop and took Christopher to school and goes to work. An hour later, Joey's school called Joe to tell him Joey wasn't at school. Joe's heart sinks and frantically he calls bee-otch face. She doesn't answer but 20 minutes later sends a text message "no worries, the boys are with me". Joe asked her to explain and she said she picked them up to take a surprise trip - the school knows.

Well, apparently the school didn't know because Joe got another call from the school today. He sends another text asking why the kids aren't in school. Bee-otch face simply says, we're having fun in Disney! She never told us they were going, hasn't let us know how long they'll be there, when they're coming back, etc. UGH! It infuriates me because she demands that we provide an itinerary, phone numbers, the name of the hotel, etc. when we go someplace yet the same doesn't apply to her. We don't even know where they're staying or for how long. She continues to interfere with our visitation and calls, texts, etc. constantly.

We're meeting with the attorney next Friday to sign the motion to show cause that she's been deliberately alienating the kids from Joe (and I). The therapist is ready to make a full report and testify. So we're SO ready to take her @$s to court. Hopefully, the judge will see things for what they are and find her in contempt and do something to punish her. She has done nothing but violate the court order and Joe's rights as their father from the get-go.

And, for whatever reason, I stepped into and started a relationship with Joe and subsequently inherited all this baggage. Was I insane???

In love but not insane, Jacq. This was clearly an attempt to have the boys see her as the better parent. Also this was to let you and Joe know who's in charge. You have issues with the school if those boys were not signed out. Technically, if they were taken without formal release. . .charges could be filed.

So sorry about the job, Jacq. It's not that you couldn't do it. You knew more than they did! Plain and simple, they felt incompetent.

Hi everyone.
Hope you all had a good weekend.
Jacq, sorry about the job and the crazy ex. You have your hands full with that girl.

Not much exciting for me. Managed to do some stamping over the weekend, though I still have a list of cards I need to get made. Also went to a 10-year-old's birthday dinner. Make me feel old, since I've known him since he was born!
HYCCT starts today, so I'm looking forward to those challenges.
Ok, best get back to work now. Chat with you all soon!

Thanks everyone!

Sorry about the job and the design team, Jacq and Jean. Something better will come along!

Archer has a a fever and is acting as if everything is absolute torture. Jeff just took him to the pediatrician. Hoping whatever he has isn't contagious. It's National Night Out and if he has to stay in when the whole neighborhood is out climbing on firetrucks and getting stickers from cops, well, Mayan Doomsday won't have anything on his meltdown.

I'm trying to get some HYCCT stuff in. Too bad I'm such a sloooowww crafter!

Thought I'd share a very cool blog with y'all. Not sure how I came about it but I absolutely LOVE the photos and the way the colors are pulled out. It's an awesome site and a great source for inspiration.

On the top, there are additional tabs...click on the Palette Search tab for when you need to kick start your flailing mojo. You can search by color or theme. There's surely something for everyone.

Design Seeds

Michelle - if you're not familiar with this site I know you'll love it for sure! Check out the "kitten tones" under Palette Search/Search by Theme/Creatures!

Enjoy!

I love Design Seeds, too! I actually subscribe to it. And I have a ton of color combos pinned in my Pinterest account. I will have to check out "kitten tones," Jacq!

Yes, I've subscribed to it too. I get seeds in my email every day. Every so often I go through and print some. I mount them on black paper pages and put them in a book that uses those little disks to bind them. Like Circa (Levengers) or Arc (Staples.) That way I can flip through it when I need a color scheme.

Thanks, Jacq. I've pinned a lot of Design Seeds, too. I love the way they do them, too, Jacq, pulling the colors from the photo. I really should subscribe. I've seen Pat's book. It's great.

Oh cool! I've pinned a billion of those color combos but never been to the site.

Archer has strep and is on day 3 of antibiotics. So far the other kids seem fine, but they're constantly in his face and they both drank after him at least once before I caught them so we'll see.

Well I'm glad you're all in on the seed secret! And here I thought I was onto something. Hmmmmph. Maybe we can do some DS Challenges (Design Seed) amongst ourselves.

Ugh. This week has taken forever. Feel like I am working my tail off but getting nothing done. I am so ready for the weekend! Looks like I am going to miss out on most of the World Cardmaking Day fun because I'll be headed to my cousins' for a visit tomorrow, but maybe I can play a little tonight and/or Sunday. Hopefully you all will get a chance to celebrate our "holiday" tomorrow!

I am happy with the CAS here for now though so I won be trying for any others at the moment...and forget about submitting to mags...I submitted stuff for the past 4 months and nothing... I'm done for a while....

And besides, I'm royalty now so who cares? Lol

We bow before thee Queen Denise. Congrats sistah!

Beat down is right! I'd love to smack that smug look off of her face...with a George Foreman grill iron!

Going to the attorney's office Monday to sign paperwork to submit a motion to show cause (alienation, contempt, etc.). Let her explain her actions to the judge!

So, as I told you guys, I didn't get the job promotion BUT, my old boss had a job opening back at the water plant. The position closed about 2 weeks ago and I didn't apply because I was still waiting to find out about the promotion. I talked to Mike this week and asked him if they made any decisions yet - he said he hadn't even really looked at the applications. I said, "What if I came back and worked for you?" His face lit up and he went right to the Operations and HR Manager to work it out. The new job is a lower grade level but my pay is still within the parameters so I'll do a lateral move and keep my current pay.

The next day, the CEO came and talked to me and said that they'd still need help doing the PR stuff especially with the new person starting and the fact that they won't have a back up person. Yeah buddy, we'll see. So can't wait to get out of the admin building and back to the water plant...which by the way just underwent an $68,000,000 major expansion and upgrade. I'll be working in a brand spankin new facility. Oh, and Joe works there too! I can keep my eye on him now. LOL

The weather is beautiful here right now. It has been only 80 since about 5:00. We ate dinner out on our back porch. Lovely!

Yay, Jacq! That sounds like a great move.

I had my book club yesterday. I made these and they were so easy and so good!
Apple Cinnamon Bars
I managed to make a couple of WCMD/HYCCT cards this weekend. My mojo is pretty good right now; wish I could stay home from work tomorrow and stamp all day!
Have a great week everyone.

Amen Sister! I managed to get a birthday card done and 3 of the HYCCT challenges. I'm going to work on them again tonight to get caught up with the challenges. If I planned it right I would've been "sick" this week instead of 2 weeks ago.

I ordered a bunch of stuff yesterday from MFT and Ellen Hutson. I've been on a 6x6 patterned paper pack kick lately. I can't seem to get enough of them so I ordered more! I also ordered some dies and a few stamps (sets). I also got the xpress copic paper to see how it compares to Gina K. which is what I favor thus far. I keep thinking getting new stuff will make me more creative.
Well, have a great week everyone!

Jean, you are so good for my ego. You leave the best comments. And I am going to think of myself as the "Grand Duchess of Gray" all day!
Also, you mentioned something about photographing cards. I am still experimenting with editing, but I stumbled on this blog post the other day: How to Make Your Gallery Uploads Sparkle with Laura - Two Peas
I used her instructions for editing in Photoshop on several of my cards over the weekend, and I think it helped a lot, plus it's just a couple easy steps to remember - nothing fancy!

Normally, I photograph my cards on a white background, but switch to black or kraft if the card itself has a white base or lots of white space. I use my ott light for lighting, and open the shades if it's light outside. They usually still look pretty gray, so I brighten them in Photoshop.

Does that help at all?

I haven't posted them yet...I was trying to get a few more done first. Hopefully I'll get some time in this evening. Already have an idea for today's challenge.

I have issues photographing my cards too...they look like @$s half the time not nearly as vibrant as the real deal. I've thought about getting a light box but didn't want to spend alot of money for one just to take pics of cards to post on SCS. It's not like I have a fancy blog or anything - although the photos would come out better for items I post on e-bay too I guess. Don't have photoshop at home either. Just need to practice with the lighting and find a better light source in the house.

Off to check out Michelle's cards now. Toodles!
