Hi Mish,
Oh, I should have looked. I never do. I like KThaman, too. Hostessed a couple of times with her.

I found it by accident while surfing. I should check that challenge regularly - I'm afraid I'll miss it when a friend gets picked. Also, it seems there's a new group of hostesses.

Oh, and Jean - do you know what type of masking fluid you got? That's the stuff Heather Telford uses, right? I found some at Michael's but it's about $15. I didn't know if that was the typical price or if I should look at Hobby Lobby. I am anxious to try some.

Let me see if I can find a pic of the bottle. That seems high, but mine is about 10 years old but it still works. Mine is Art Masking Fluid, 2.5 fl. oz by Winsor and Newton in the watercolor paint aisle. I'll go look at prices and pics. I just sent Pat about 5 ideas for hostessing for the Journeys theme. I just don't want to hostess. If you'd like the list, too, you are free to use or embellish the ideas. PM me.

I want some of that masking stuff. I've never worked with it but it sounds like something I "need". LOL Maybe I'll stop by the art store and see if they have it there.

Heard back from Lee and I will be hosting a VSN challenge. Hope you'll play along.

Buy the smallest bottle you can get. You are not going to need much. It is like a very thin rubber cement. Watercolor artists use it to maintain the white background of something when they are washing, etc. I splatter it to make snow, then ink over, and rub the stuff off. You could make trees like birch trees by painting with the stuff and then inking as well.

If you did not do last week's Try a New Technique, you must. Sooooo quick and fun! I used regular cardstock, not glossy, by detackifying the tape about three times on my slacks. Fun, fun, technique that actually looks really good.

We'll have to try to skype again...I haven't skyped since last VSN. I'm going to check out that technique.

DANG IT! I have been looking for a dandelion stamp that I had seen month ago...I've been searching for a while now...couldn't remember who it was by.

I checked out that masking technique Jean mentioned as well as the gallery. Imagine my delight when I can across this card: Delight by naturecoastcrafter - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

THAT'S THE DANDELION STAMP I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! THANKS JEAN!
easy technique too with cool results. Your card is fab!

Hi Jacq! I just got home from work (after a stop at Joanns!) I bought masking fluid. It was on sale, though still a bit expensive. I hope to give it a try this weekend. I also bought drink umbrellas. I am going to make a summer wreath with them for my front door. If it works, I'll share a photo!
If I'm free, I'd love to join you all for some skyping during the next VSN. I think it would be fun to see and hear you all live!
Things are typical busy for me. I did manage to make a few cards the last few days so I think the slump is officially over. One of my cards was included in the Taylored Expressions newsletter, so that was fun. I'm hoping for a quiet weekend. I definitely need to do some spring cleaning. My friend is having surgery on her foot next week so I might go see her before she's laid up for awhile.
I think that is all my news. Hope you all are doing well!

I'm here. Hi Mish. Hi Jacq. Glad I could help with the dandelion! I LOVE that stamp. I love that technique--I said that already. We are finally getting new carpeting Thurs. so I'm packing up bookshelves, etc. Gonna go make a blueberry pie.

Made this last night. I think it needs a little bigger ribbon, maybe in pink? but this was the best I could come up with from my stash. What do you think?

Leave it alone, Mish. It is perfect. What a wonderful Cinco de Mayo decoration. Question: Did you consume all the umbrella drinks?

thanks Jean! And no, I didn't consume all the drinks to go with those umbrellas! I don't think I've had that many umbrella drinks in my entire life!

That umbrella wreath is Adorable with a capital A! Very clever. Did you use a styrofoam wreath and stick the umbrellas in it all the way around?

Yay for new carpet Jean. Joe's watching the hockey game so I'm getting a little stamping time in now...maybe I'll work on my VSN examples. I also need to make a couple of birthday cards. Have a good weekend everyone.

Hahahaha! That brightened my day, Jean!

I've spent a good chunk of my week trying to talk myself into not turning in my resignation at work. Things have been rockier than rocky lately, and the stress is really starting to get to me. I'm hoping for some good stamping therapy time this weekend to help clear my head! Also, I'll be polishing the resume up and seeing if there's anywhere I can send it.

Hello all!

Love that wreath, Michelle! So festive! Sorry to hear work is not a happy place.

Love the new carpeting, Jean!

I've been busy working on Read Around the World which was tonight. Now that it's over I should have a minute or to to myself.

Hi Jacqueline!

I'm up for skyping for VSN too.

Hey Jean, did you see that Heather Telford is the featured stamper this week? I know you're a big fan, since you're the one who introduced her stuff to me! I haven't had a chance to play yet, but hope to later, especially since I bought that masking fluid!
Hope you're all have a wonderful weekend. Mine has been busy, but I did squeeze in time for a card and two scrap pages in honor of National Scrapbooking Day.
Also, my new sofa arrives on Friday! It's a few weeks earlier than expected, but that is a good thing! I'll be sure and take a photo once I get the space in order.

After the flurry or excitement that was the fiesta del cinco de mayo, today has been more relaxing. I took all the 5 de m decorations down, did the weekly grocery shopping, and then made 3 cards I needed: Mothers Day, baby shower, and wedding shower.
Very exciting that your sofa is coming early, Michelle! Can't wait to see it!

Playing hooky today. Christopher, my friend Allison, and I walked through the entire neighborhood Saturday and hand delivered over 300 newsletters. On top of that, I felt my back pinch when I was fixing the sheets on Chris' bed. I was sore all weekend and now my butt is getting numb and tingly when I sit too long. It's lovely getting old.

Yay on the new sofa Michelle - how exciting. Sorry that work sucks though. Believe me, I know how tough it is to put on the game face and go to work when it makes you miserable.

Fun stuff Pat - we had a cinco de mayo dinner complete with taco dip, burritos and Mexican music. Christopher thought it was fun. It was like listening to Mexican Polka music. It would have been fun if we had giant sombrero's.

Hi Jean! Got all your carpet in? Did you roll around on it? LOL

I completed a couple scrapbook pages and made my mother-in-law's MD card. Still have to make my mom's card. I'm thinking I might make her a little paperbag book or something. I made one for my Dad last father's day with pictures and quotes all about he and I - Dad liked it (plus, it came out super cute). I'd have to get started on mom's so I can get some pictures printed.

Hope you all have a good day - and week!

I'm here, I'm here! I have to work late tonight, so have about 90 minutes before I have to leave. I had to clean up the stamp junk spread all over my living room so I could clean and make room for the new sofa. It's due between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. tomorrow. Silly to be this excited about a piece of furniture, but I am. I'm sure I'll post a photo once I get things back in a semblance of order.
Also, if any of you watch Wheel of Fortune, they are showing episodes taped in Portland right now. My mom and sis went to watch and are in the audience. They've been shown a few times, including the first audience shot during the open. They are in the lower right of the screen - not that any of you would recognize them! But it's been kind of fun to watch them.

When I first moved into my condo I had no furniture in the living room for almost 6 months while I waited for the sofa I ordered. I had a recliner & TV in the spare bedroom (now, my craft room). Luckily I didn't have to wait as long for my bedroom furniture. It is exciting Mish so you have every right to be excited!

What's everyone been up to? Pat - you must be starting the countdown to summer vaca - Denise too for that matter. We're still house hunting. Decided not to build in that neighborhood we were looking in...too many babies and younger people plus the houses are too close together - now that we've looked in other neighborhoods. We'll know it when we see it. So wish we could just move to Florida already.

Looking for the right house, not so fun. You are right though, you will know it when you see it. Good luck!

Just a few more weeks of school left. I have enjoyed my second graders so much this year. A refreshing change from the more difficult 4th graders.

The weather people here have been promising us rain since last Thursday, but we haven't gotten a drop. So tonight, after dinner, my mom and I went out to water. I watered the wilting azaelas in the front and put some more water in my pond and she watered all the flowering plants in the back. About 10 minutes after we got back inside a thunderstorm hit, complete with torrential rain and (tic-tac size) hail. Obviously we should water more often. LOL
