hi everyone!

Jean's idea is a good one! Joe does something like that with his cigars....You start off with like one set of stamps or even a bag of stuff that equals like $20 (just an ex.) then you mail it to the next person on the list. They can take whatever they want but they have to replace what they take. So if I took 2 stamp sets I have to put back 2 stamp sets. SOunds like a great idea to me. We would just need a $$ limit on each thing.

I'm in...

I'm in for a Pay it Forward. I still have so much extra stuff.

Hope the earthquakes settle down! The tropical depression isn't giving us much trouble, just lots of rain.

Jacq ~ So excited for you!!

Okay, I'm getting enough interest to do this. Make my life easier. PM me your mail addy if you are interested in playing.

I was thinking we'd start with just 5 stamps or the equivalent (like a stamp set with 5 stamps in it or whatever. Let's set a "shoot for" amount of $20 or thereabouts (what they would have cost new.) I'd really like to get rid of some of these stamps and I'm not an ebay seller and don't want to get into that. Maybe I'll post on my blog. Is that legal?

I like this idea alot! Do you have a time frame in mind? Of course, all my stuff is in WA, and I wont' be back until the 20th. I don't want to hold you all up and put a damper on the enthusiasm. So I'd love to play along if my timing works with yours. Let me know!

Mish, you can send my stamps back to WA - I won't need them here. Do you need my WA address again?

FYI - I'm still in my jammies at 9:52 a.m. LOL I need to get my butt moving though. No food in the house, and I haven't had my coffee yet today. This would be the perfect time to jumpstart my diet while I'm here. Sadly, it's overcast today. Story of my life. LOL I think it's supposed to be like this for the next couple of days and go back to being sunny on Monday. It was 91 at 7:00 a.m. this morning. Yikes!!

Hope you're all staying cool and not shaking any more!

Oooh, I love that idea, Jean! I will definitely join in. We could use a small flat rate priority shipping box to pass everything along.
Karolyn, I have your WA address, so I'll send the stamps there. I don't want to speak for Jean, but I imagine we could just put you a little further down the send list so you'd be back in WA before it was your turn.
I am trying to get through the day at work. I have so much stuff I'd rather be doing right now, including stamping!

Oh, Mish - I hear you - of course I AM at home - no clients today, but SO much to do and just sitting here editing - of course, not editing what I SHOULD be editing - just don't want to go there. Think I will find some ink and stamps. Jean - your idea sounds like a good one - I have TONS of stamps - should think about getting rid of them - not adding to them.

Great idea, Mish. We'll limit stamps to what will fit in the small, flat rate shipping (I think it's $4.95). Got your addy--anyone else?
Hi Paula M. Hi Karolyn--we'll definitely put you down the list so that you're home.

I'm in for sure!!!! Even though I sold all my SU sets I still have lots of other stamps and other wonderful goodies! I like the idea of the flat-rate box and a price around-ish $20. I also want to say you will NOT hurt my feelings if you want to "pay forward" what I send to anyone if it's not your style or whatever! It's all about having fun and others really getting to keep what they'll use!!!

Okay, are we going to cycle this box of stamps for a little while and do a one shot, end of the road, dead end deal?

I've got my batch of stamps picked out to start. I'm going to put in more than 5, though. The rule is that if you take one out, you have to put a replacement in the box. You can add extra as long as it fits in the small flat rate box. You cannot move up to the next size box. When you get the box, look through it, replace, etc. and when you are ready to move on, send it to the person whose name follows yours.
If you play, you're in on the pact that we will not lose friendships over this. We are shipping out stamps that have no sentimental or great value to us, so if the box gets bogged down, we'll celebrate that the stamps are gone from our stash and living happily in the stash of one of our friends. Agreed?

SEND ME YOUR ADDY IN A PM IF YOU WANT TO BE INCLUDED.

And by the way, Happy Sunday. Have a splendid day doing something for you, how 'bout it?

I am told over breakfast that the flat rate box is $8.95 if that affects your decision to play or not.

i think postage has gone up since y'all last used flat rate. The small flat rate box (8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8")is $4.95. You can't fit a lot in it. The medium flat rate box costs $10.70 and there are 2 sizes. Neither one will fit 12x12 paper.

Jean, I'm in, even if it's $10.70. And I vow it's just for fun, no friendships at risk!

And Happy Sunday, all! I tried to stamp yesterday, but my mojo was MIA. Today I need to tackle a bazillion chores that I didn't do yesterday. Ugh. At least the sun is out!

Okay, which one were you thinking? Obviously, we all have WAY more stamps than we originally thought!!!

$4.85 for small (see Paula's dimensions above)
$10.70 for medium (see Paula's dimensions)

I can easily fill the medium or just go with the small.

I would rather pay more and send more stuff, but majority rules. i can barely fit anything in the small box. Are we just sending stamps or accessories and embellishments okay too? Either way is fine, just curious. And are single stamps okay or does it need to be sets?

When you get this box and I've managed to fill a $10.70 while waiting to hear from you, it contains single wooden stamps, some unmounted stamps, some clear stamps. I did not put any stamp sets in, but if you say see 6 stamps you like and you want to put in a 4 stamp set or whatever, then it's okay. These stamps were going out one way or another and I did not take inventory. I did not do embellies at this time but if you want to substitute some embellies for a stamp you like, then I say okay. The idea is to have fun, get some stamps, get rid of some stamps. Let's not do paper at this time, though unless it's like a 6 x 6 pad or something--we shouldn't go over the $10.70 fee by shipping a larger box onto the next person. And if I see these things on EBAY, so be it! Have fun! I'm putting you on the recipient list in the order you've signed on, so get me those addies!!!!

Oh, and along with no paper, I would say no ink - because it can get damaged and make a mess so easily. But otherwise, I'm cool with whatever - stamps, accessories, whatever might need a new home.

Okay, just sent you a PM with my address, Jean. I also added a few suggestions/questions about the proccess.

First, should we make a time limit so that the box doesn't hang around in one place for too long? (I suggest this because I'm pretty sure that without boundaries, I'd be the one sitting on them for too long.) Say out the door within three days of receipt? With so many of us participating, it could be 6 weeks or longer before the peeps at the end of the list could see a box. Just an idea.

Also, should we do Delivery Confirmation (an additional $.65, I think) so that we know that each box was received? At least the box could be traced should someone misspell or misaddress a box.

This is like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, only ours is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Stamps!! Too funny! Thanks for coordinating, Jean!

Looks like fun, Lee!! I think there was a big geocacheing convention in Seattle this weekend. Did you know about it? Have you ever gone to something like that before?

Karolyn..........yep, hubby would have loved to go to the big Geo-woodstock. He's been to several Event Caches, but nothing that big. I think this was the 3rd annual and they've been too far away so far. He's hoping maybe next summer it will be a bit closer to Colorado! LOL

Lee, that looks so fun!
Karo, I'm fine with adding delivery confirmation to the box. And I don't mind a suggested turnaround time, either, just to keep it moving. Great ideas.
I stamped a little today and did some more cleaning and "gardening" of my six patio pots. I have some tiny green tomatoes that look promising. And I am going to use some of my basil in a salad for dinner!

Hola Chicas - Of course I want in on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Stamps! I agree with the discussions and "restrictions". I could fill up a refrigerator box with stuff I need to clear out. LOL

Hope you all had a good weekend. Joe & I picked up Christopher Friday evening. He'll be with us for 2 weeks - still no Joey. We went to Calabash (my parents) for the weekend. I had another fitting in Myrtle Beach - the dressmaker "fixed" the botton so it wasn't so poofy at the hips. She also added pleating on the back bodice which was a pleasant surprise - it looks really nice. Next time I go in she should have it almost finished. I'll be sure to post pictures when it's all done.

We stopped for lunch at this yummy deli and Chris ended up getting sick. He complained of a tummy ache and thought he had to poop so I sent him to the restroom. While he was sitting on the toilet he threw up all over the floor (eeewwwww gross!). All the fun at the pool earlier must have got him worked up. Good thing I suggested Joe go check on him instead of me cuz we know how that would've ended up. It doesn't phase Joe - he steps into action. Go Joe!

Fun dunebuggy adventure Lee. I lke the pics.
Feel better Paula.
Hi Mish. Hi Denise. Hi Karo. Hi Pat. Hiya Jean. Hi Paula.

Lee, that buggy looks so good on you. Okay, I think we're just about ready. I wanted to do the shipping list in order of receipt but it looks like we have to work around travel and big plans! As soon as I hear back from Jacq, I'll get a shipping label ready for Sisterhood of the Traveling Stamps.

I have Michelle, Lee, Paula L, Pat, Karo,Jacq, Denise, Jean--who did I forget? Watch your PM for shipping list and info.

Question: On Delivery Confirmation does someone have to sign for it? If so, that would really cause some snags, I think.

No, it just lets you know that the post office delivered it.

Thanks, Paula. Just completed the shipping label online--because I did it online, they didn't charge for the delivery confirmation and I saved 50 cents. (Milt has an account.)
It's out for the mail right now and on its way to Michelle! I hope this is fun for everyone. I know I'm having a blast!

Woohoo! Soooo excited to get this started!! Thanks for taking the bull by the horns and for having the brilliance to share your idea with all of us hoodlums! LOL Now all we need to do is find a director to film our little adventure with the traveling stamps! LOL Ohhhhh, I hope we get to go to Greece! Hehehehe I just crack myself up! Yeah, that's what happens when you're home alone for five days. Lovin' it though - not complaining at all!! Have a great day, ladies!

I'm up for Greece any time. Meet me on Santorini at sunset and bring the barrel wine! Hey, are we doing a tour this year? Robyn had something about us doing out hometowns. That was fun last year!
