Jennifer- My Dh said they were throwing stuff out of it. I went up the block with my sister. For the 6 blocks we drove on there were broken wood pieces and other trash. DH told the police to have the person come back and clean it up. Fat chance that will ever happen. Please come to Minnesota in the spring so I can rent a dumpster for all the clutter I need/want to get out of this house. We have lived here for 35 yrs.

Ok, in an effort to save $$ I went to Aldi's last week. I purchased lunch meat...it had fat and grissle.

I purchased yogurt...it had aspartamine and I felt weird, which made me read the label...did not know it's ingredients.

I got cheese, which tasted like a rubber tire.

I love the prices and want to get anything from Aldi's I can....to save....any suggestions??

I can't help you there, Hedgie. Do they not sell name brand items?

We don't have an Aldi's...not sure I'd shop there. My BFF loves it.

I am really conscious about the quality of food I put in my body. You end up saving money on healthcare costs and you end up eating less, because your body is full and satisfied.

The only cold cuts I eat are Boar's Head with no nitrates (you can google it). Mostly OvenGold Turkey.

I only eat organic yogurt - Stonyfield!! It's a NH company! (OK, I used to eat Chobani and I do eat Fage.) Organic milk too.

I'm lucky that good cheese - Cabot- is a local company (VT) so it's fairly cheap. My kids will no longer eat processed cheese - they want real cheddar! I asked Drew if he wanted cheese on his burger tonight and if was pissed that I didn't have real cheddar. LOL

You really have to read labels and make a list of your likes/brands.

It's just not worth it to me! (p.s. I still like m&m's and chips though those are a rarity!)

Nothing at Aldi's is name brand. I purchased $15 worth of food. Nothing~~ ended up being good.

I live in Wisconsin so I know cheese. The best cheese place is within a mile of my condo. Enuf said.

Also, the quality of everything else was sub-standard. I purchased a bag of frozen fruit. Blueberries, Blackberries and Raspberries. They taste like nothing/cardboard. There is no flavor.

I will not go back unless someone can direct me to something that they had success with....? If so, thank you, in advance. I want to save money...but I also do not want to be throwing food out!

LOVE THIS!!!!

I have been to a lot of places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Incognito, either. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips, thanks to my friends and family. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump and I'm not much on physical activity. I'm just saying.

Good morning!

Can anyone say soccer in the rain?!

We're going to do some much needed cleaning today in between games, etc.

Happy because the scale moved this am! I've been stuck all week, probably retaining water from being sick and taking those meds. Right now I'm weighing every day because I'm seeing how my body reacts to different foods. In another couple of weeks I'll be able to not weigh as often!

Jen- Soccer in the rain. It brings back memories....
Praying for Sara.
Hedgie- When I shop at Aldi's, I buy non perishable items. I have a neighbor who buys her ham there every Christmas. She buys veggies and fruit every 2-3 days. That is all the longer they stay fresh and usable.
Today is going to be on of those running doing errands, then off to work this afternoon evening. Hope you all have a good day!

I didn't care for the Candy Corn M&M's. They are white chocolate which I don't like at all but thought I'd give them a try. Luckily I bought other stuff that I do like

Preston and I are picking up grandma this morning and we're going back up into the mountains to see the aspens. She's never been on the aspen tour so we're going to do that and just walk around town. It's a beautifully sunny, cloud-free day.

We're all going to breakfast in a little town along the way. Haven't been there in years but it's really good. Brandon's in Denver all weekend so the girls (and Preston) get to play!

Happy Saturday!

Just noticed that SCS has a pink background for breast cancer awareness. Wonder if they would do a gold background next year for children cancer awareness in September next year. Who would I contact?

Wish I could be there with you! I have always wanted to go to Denver in the Fall! My DD is so busy with school, at this time, she generally prefers I come out in the spring.

I have heard the spiral cut ham is good. The veggies looked good too. I will give it another try with a different strategy, thanks!

It's a rainy Sat. here. Two games cancelled so far - waiting on one more which I bet they play!

We cleaned the boys' room, changed sheets, cleaned the family room and am tackling laundry mountain.

I really want to stamp tonight!

Jen, Nikki, and Sara - hope you all start feeling better soon.

Hedgie - I have the dishwasher going and sorted through some stuff in the living room. How come it doesn't look any better to me? I still have my clothes to finish sorting through. But most of those bins are sitting in my craft room so they are out of sight. I can't stamp until I'm done with that though, so that is a bit of a motivator!

I'm waiting for the dishwasher to finish so I can unload it and then go through the fridge. Unfortunately, I think I'll be tossing a lot of food. We NEED to eat leftovers and the girls are just going to have to deal with it. I hate wasting so much food.

I just got this email about my neighbor/friend. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. I'm having a very hard time dealing with this. I'm not sure why - I've dealt with others in similar circumstances. "Downtown" refers to Philly.

10/1
Yesterday Karen had her appointment down town. We thought she was going to be starting a chemo treatment. But, it was explained that if the chemo stopped the growth of the tumors, or even shrunk them a little, it would not extend Karen's life at all - apparently the nature of melanoma. It could, in fact, shorten it just by the extreme side effects. So, the doctor recommended that Karen NOT do the chemo. Karen agreed. She will not be doing any more treatment. The goal at this point is to make Karen as comfortable and pain free as possible. - basically, concentrating more on "quality of life".

She did get 2 units of blood while downtown.
At home, a social worker and a visiting nurse each come in once a week to check on Karen. Also, a man comes once a week to check on the oxygen administration. Karen is holding her own at this point. As the need increases, the visits will increase.

So sorry for your friend Joanne. Melanoma is an angry beast. My friend lost her husband to it about 5 years ago. He actually stopped the chemo (it's not called chemo technically - it's an immune system drug) early and was relying on prayers. He was cancer free for a year and by the time they found it it was everywhere - liver, brain, lungs. He was gone within two months. One of the saddest memorial services I've ever been to.

Even with the treatment and radiation she has had, they keep finding more tumors. It is so sad. Her kids are 12 and 14. The boy has been a handful his whole life. I don't know what is going to happen when he goes to live with his dad.

I hope the dad is not a jerk and the kids can spend a ton of time with their mom.
