Brandon arrived safely in Missouri. We went to Grandma's after we dropped him off at the airport and had a big breakfast and spent the day at her house. He slept in late this morning which meant so did I Felt good since I only got 3 hours of sleep Saturday night.
I washed our windows on Sat., but didn't get the upstairs ones done so that's on the agenda for today....along with a bunch of other things.
Planning on taking Preston to the gym with me now that he's better. I have to get back into that routine. For me and him!
Sherry - I remember flying one time with a cold. I had plugged ears and pressure for the rest of the trip. i was afraid to fly home, too. It is awful. BUT I'm glad you got to see Xander and REBA! How fun.
It is beautiful here already. A nice week on tap - I'm guessing the grass is going to be nice and green by the end of the week. One of our neighbors always mows his lawn for the first time on the 1st of April. I'm thinking it might be earlier this year!
Happy Monday, Aaron and his family are still here. Aaron just left with Reynold to go to one of his vending machines and then will make a stop at Sinai Hospital. Reynold has an eye appointment there and Aaron will meet with the child life specialist.
My healing continues and am very grateful to the Ruotsals here. Truly they are a blessing and am loving having three sweet little girlie princesses around.
Caterina- That is nice that Aaron could go with Reynolds. I am happy that the family is helpful. You are such a great person. I know when I am sick I want no one around.
Jennifer- Preston is getting older so he will be happier in strange places. Take care of yourself this week.
Sherry- I flew when I had a bad cold. My ears popped and bled. it was not a pleasant experience. I can't wait to see how big Xander has gotten.
Joanne- How are you doing? Has Marie been better lately? It has been a rainy day. It was way tooooooo warm in school today. I am glad to be home with the windows open. It is 51 degrees.
Cat - so glad you are enjoying time with all the ladies! That is wonderful that Aaron and Reynold got some time together too. You are wonderful people!
Jennifer - good going to the gym. Preston might be making some friends there!
Marie is still Marie. Good days and bad days. I'm trying to just ignore the bad ones, but it isn't always easy. She is supposed to go clean up dog poop in a bit. I told her with the warmer, nicer weather coming we are going to want to be outside - so it needs to be cleaned up.
Some times things go my way. I had to call to reschedule a doctor's appointment - this is my psychiatrist that I see every three months). When I called the receptionist said he will only be in that one office two Wednesdays a month, but will be at another location two Fridays a month. It so happens that the Friday office is much, much closer to me!!!!! So, this is much better in many ways. It is in the same building that my old GP (the one I couldn't stand the office staff) is in - this is great news!
evening hope u all had a good day today it was MONDAY for sure over here lol
It was Monday here too!!!
What a long day!! Preston refused to nap. I think he finally fell asleep a few minutes ago. He was up for 12 hours straight!! I did manage to get all the upstairs windows washed. Those are the hard ones - I have to get out on the roof for one and hang out the windows on the others.
I'm going to go eat dinner, load the dishwasher and veg on the couch. I taped some documentaries on the Japan Tsunami a few nights ago that I've been wanting to watch.
Just checking in... the weather is absolutely beyond beautiful. Was able to take a short little walk with the girls... all in their pjs - so cute. Cannot begin to tell Aaron and Morireen how they helped with the healing process by enjoying their company. Sadly, they left a little while ago, it was hard to say our 'so longs' until next time.... miss having the motor home in the driveway with Cole's sweet life size picture on the back.
They will be heading to Bethesda, MD to visit one our Cole families and possibly making a stop at NIH (National Institutes of Health). Aaron is 'playing it by ear' as he makes his way down to Florida to visit families and hospitals. Again, am so incredibly impressed with what they are doing for Cole's legacy and reaching out to others. Right now, they have no 'real income' so please pray that hearts will be open to keep their ministry going.
Speaking of funding, this is truly a God thing. Aaron and his family stopped at a restaurant for lunch, overhead a couple talking about getting involved with childhood cancer donations and one thing led to another... the organization asked Aaron to submit a proposal for one of largest donations, Cole Foundation has received to date.
Sure wish you all could meet this remarkably young man, his wife and kids. Am more than blessed to know.
Caterina - isn't this weather just glorious? I love it! I'm wearing flip flops today!!! Glad you were able to get out and walk a little. I'm sure that felt great!!!
This is all wonderful news about Aaron and family! I'm glad they were there for you to help cheer and motivate you. And I'm sure you did the same for them. Because you just are that way!!!
Jennifer - I remember days like that - remember Julie didn't sleep much. Was he cranky? Or just awake? Hopefully, today he will be back on track.
It is beautiful and sunny here right now. That's a surprise. I guess our rain is coming in later.
He wasn't cranky, just didn't want to sleep. He ended up sleeping 13 hours overnight! I hope today is better - we just got home and he's in his bed.
I need to call my neighbor in back of us. She got some estimates on fixing our fence and wants to get it done soon. Not a fun thing to spend money on, but it needs to be done. Right now we have no fence between our yards.
Another gorgeous day. We'll probably go outside later and play.
Sunday I chaperoned the band at the St Pat's parade. Friday and Sat were Les Mis - we went Saturdya night.
M left for Jamaica on Sunday for spring break - he's having a blast.
Another performance tonight for A. Then friday night and two on Saturday. I'll be glad when she's done. All the kids have been getting sick and they are all beat! Anyway - A will have a cheering section of 16 for the understudy show on Saturday afternoon! Those are just our tickets!
Thinking of each and every one of you. Off to feed the dog, then spend some time sorting in my craft room.
Thank you Jennifer for starting this thread each and every monday!

It has been a little while for a funny...
Blind Animals
Two animals meet in the woods, both blind since birth.
Neither one knows what kind of animal it is, so they decide
to feel each other to try to figure it out.
"What do I feel like?" the first animal asked.
"You have soft fur all over you, strong back legs, big back
feet, a puffy little cotton tail, two long ears, and a
twitchy little nose."
The first animal, full of joy, exclaimed, "I know what I am!
I'm a bunny rabbit."
"Now it's my turn," said the second animal.
The bunny felt him, describing, "You're very long, narrow,
and low to the ground. You're cold and slimy. You have long,
sharp fangs and a little forked tongue that keeps darting
out of your mouth."
Long day today! I didn't sleep either. Guess it's in the air. I heard Mercury is in retrograde, whatever that means. LOL
Today I had to be trained in crisis prevention and restraint. I leaned how to get out of a choke hold, a hair pulling, a bite and how to take down a kid. Fun times! At least we got to get up and be physical.
Then I got home and went for a much needed run. We've got storms rolling in but I think I ran in the only half hour of strong sunlight. LOL
The boys had a great time with my dad, shopping and out to lunch.

It's too bad that all the people who are smart enough to run the country are busy teaching school.
Some of it was pretty good - with the kids I work with I figured the guarding against a kick, a slap and a grab or bite are probably the ones I'll deal with. But there are kids with restraint plans. It is sort of scary because one kid I work with *could* need it at some point in time.

When Julie was in preschool one of the children in her age group was a biter. That was 15 years ago. All the stuff the teachers were required to report and check was very detailed. I was glad I wasn't a teacher at that point. I think that child ended up being so much of a problem that they had to ask her to leave. She had a lot of emotional issues and just couldn't be with a group of kids.
jen- That is hard training but necessary. When my niece was a child protection worker one of the girls kicked her so hard she had a miscarriage. Very unusual but it happened. So take care!
jennifer- I am tired just hearing about Preston's long day!
Caterina- Such an amazing family. Happy that you had the opportunity to spend time with them.
Joanne- It is cooler today but so dry.
Liz- A is having a fun time. Some many kids at school are sick with colds and the flu. M is in Jamaica what a lucky guy. You are very welcome for the card!
I am home today... trying to get tax info together.. This is boring and frustrating. I can't find some important papers.
The girls Basketball team is in the state tournament so school closed before lunch.

!
Joan - that is just heartbreaking! Your poor niece!
We have to do our taxes as well. I reminded Bill that if we are going on the cruise in April, he needs to get them done sooner. I'll gently remind him again this weekend.
Joan, thank you so much for your beautiful St. Patrick's Day card. You are always so very sweet and faithful in sending ouut happy mail. Reynold and I will be married 23 years on St. Patrick's Day. <3
Sure do miss the sound of those little girls' feet coming up the steps this morning. However, sweet Conrad is here for the afternoon so am grateful to have him visit.
Must say recovery is pretty slow but am so grateful for the love and care of my yawag husband. Am truly blessed.
We picked up a DVD from Freecycle and then went to the park. He loves slides and they had some little cars on springs that he liked. And of course we tried out the swings. There were some bigger kids on the playground and he was fascinated watching them. The weather was gorgeous. We then went to Walmart and then hit two thrift stores for Military discount day. Found some really cute clothes and books for him and some Easter decorations for the house. All that for under $15.
Heading to the gym after he wakes from his nap and then we'll probably go to the park again.
The loaded mini-van pulled into a campsite. Four children
leaped from the vehicle and began feverishly unloading gear
and setting up the tent. The boys rushed to gather firewood,
while the girls and their mother set up the camp stove and
cooking utensils.
A nearby camper marveled to the youngsters' father, "That,
sir, is some display of teamwork."
The father replied, "I have a system: no one goes to the
bathroom until the camp is set up."
Joan, Thank you for the beautiful St Patrick's Day Card!!! You make me want to get my room ready. I keep telling my back that, but without meds, I just have too much pain. With pain, I want to sleep!!! I need a helper, but Bob isn't cooperative!!! I get so frustrated!!!
Cat, you sound like you are doing pretty well, doing all those things with Conrad. I hope you are getting plenty rest and pampering!!!
Linda, actually Reynold is the big help with Conrad and took him outside to enjoy the sunny warm day. Conrad is taking a nap and I am thinking of joining him.
We went to the park and I'm worn out! I brought bubbles and a big ball and did a lot of chasing! Preston made friends with a little girl - so cute watching them play. We went to a new park today just for something different. I had a police car following me and then he pulled behind me when I parked. It scared me even though I know I didn't do anything wrong. He just stopped to eat his lunch

Cat it sounds like you are doing quite well. It'll take a while for those mus-cles to heal.....You sound good. What are you able to eat at this time?

Hedgie, am doing well and am grateful for the progress so far. Am on a bariactric diet right now which is easier while recovering and will be leaving shortly for a follow up with the surgeon. It will be nice to get these staples out...
All of you have been extremely sweet and kind and so grateful for all of you.
