Good Morning!

thank you for the prayers for my mom. The surgery went well. She'll be home by the end of the week!

Corrie plays the clarinet, thank you for the congratulations for her. She worked so hard and didn't think she would make it! She surprised herself!

Warm and beautiful weather here! Hang in there our East Coast friends! Your weather is just nuts now. Thinking of you!

My Secret Santa gift is complete! YEA! Just need a box to wrap and get in the mail!

Sherry

Equal time for the women...

Bad Hair Day

"What happened to you?" asked the bystander of the man lying
on the sidewalk outside of the beauty parlor.

The man shook his head groggily and rubbed his bruised chin.
"Well, the last thing I remember was my wife coming out of
the beauty salon. I took one look at her and said, 'Well,
honey ... at least you tried.'"

It is gray, dreary and cold but we aren't seeing any rain or snow here yet. However, I have the tv on (watching my soap opera!) and apparently it is coming down in Philly! The can see the flakes! Wow!

I did some stamping but then realized I was starving! Had lunch and now just waiting to go get Julie. I'm stopping at the store for things I need for the girls' dinner, VEGGIES for me and some things I need to do some baking.

Sherry - so thankful your mom's surgery went well! That is great news!!!!

what happened to my last post.

Sherry- I am grateful that your mom's surgery went well. My youngest DS has a music degree. His major instrument is the clarinet. It is so wonderful to watch our kids excel.

Joanne- it is dark and dreary here too! However....no SNOW!

Caterina- I look forward to your posts. Thanks

My parents are getting quite a bit of snow. She called around 4 and they already had about an inch on the ground. Car was covered. We don't have anything but biting rain. I put the recycling out and my fingers were frozen!

Hello, Paul had a 3rd interview with the Operations Manager today, hopefully we hear something soon.

This weekend we are going to Twin Falls to celebrate early Thanksgiving along with the October and November birthdays, Its paul's side of the family.

We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year and my Sister is doing brunch. A lot of food for one day.

Sherry - Savannah plays the clarinet too, she also plays guitar and drums. She got a guitar last year for Christmas and this year she wants a drum set. Andrew plays saxophone and wants to learn guitar/drums and something else, the tuba maybe. It's noisy at my house I like it that way

Heather- that is great news about the interviews for Paul. I really hope he gets this!

I think we're alone for Thanksgiving this year. We thought about going to my parents' house but they are going to have a lot of people and her house is small. I don't want to add the four of us (adults, no less) and the dogs. It's too much. I am going to invite everyone HERE next year.

So happy for Paul, that is wonderful. I know howstressful job change is!

I am 3 days into a new position. It has gone well, but it is extremely stressful. I am hungry all the time and I don't even move that much.

I will chat more with you all over the weekend. All I can say is, do whatever you can to support our veterans... WOW... what I have seen in three days has blown me away. We now have a new very young generation of vets returning from war... the old the young... all so sweet, respectful and kind... they are wonderful to work with.

I can see a WWII vet, a Korean war Vet, a Vietnam Vet, an Iraqi vet in one field of vision when I walk in , just to get to the elevators to go to work.

Hedgie- My dh is a Vietnam vet. he suffers from PTSD. he worried about the young guys/gals returning. He knows how war affected him. My sister is also a Vietnam vet. A book was written about some of the nurses from MN and one from WI. She is in it! She also suffers from PTSD.
Thanks for all the work you do to help all the vets! I pray all the time for all of them.

Nichole- Thinking about you!

Joanne- You are a wise lady. Are your parents doing okay? I am sure Sandy put a stress on them. I wish we were getting the snow. DH and I are both off Tomorrow. I think we will do something.

Brandon and I went out last night to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our first date. We used to go back to the same restaurant every year, but it has since closed so we now go to the Outback.

I agree, I like it noisy too! Now, it is just Corrie and I miss Brendon and all his buddies hanging out! almost too quiet at my house!

Rarely do I feel the way that I do right now, however, my heart truly hurts for my grandson and the terrible experience he recently had. Alexander will be 14 on Veterans Day and will be in a parade early morning this Sunday along with his fellow Junior Naval Academy cadets. Although it is a couple hours away, Reynold and I are going to do our best to be there to support him.

We're going to try to go to our Veteran's Day parade here too - it's a neat thing to watch and support!

Alexander went to get a haircut on election day and he was wearing his naval academy uniform. When he came out of the barber shop, a man who was driving pass, pulled over, walked up to Alexander, spit on his uniform and then quickly got back in his car to drive away.

Alexander posted his thoughts about it on his fb page and while it broke my heart, am so very proud what he wrote. Others posted saying he was well beyond his years, exceptional and inspiring.

Caterina - that is awful. A grown man doing that to a child! Yes, I know he is a teen, but he is still a child. Will certainly be praying for him. He does sound like a wonderful young man.

It is WINDY today. Quite cold. But we have sunshine!!!! Woo hoo!!!!

Thank you Joanne, my heart hurts, however, Alexander is truly a loving, caring, giving, fine young man and am trusting that somehow good will come out of this. It is a shame that this man who took out his anger on Alexander does not know how truly wonderful my grandson is.

Caterina, What hatred that man had to do such a horrid thing to Alexander. If it were me, I would be traumatized for such an act, and I'm a grown woman! Unfortunately, this country too has people that hate our country and our servicemen. It's just too bad that Alexander was in the wrong place at the wrong time!!!

That man needs lots of prayers. Although that was NOT the first thing that came to my mind.

I'm exhausted. I have no idea why. I'm going to try and stay awake for Big Bang Theory. I don't know if I'll make it!

Caterina- I am so sorry for Alexander. That man is really mentally sick. I will pray for Alexander. It is my honor to thank everyone who has been, is and will be in the military.

DH and I went to four thrift stores today. They had clothing for 50% off. I bought 2 pair of pants, 3 shirts, a coat, tablecloth and a few things for DGD. Now I am washing!

Joanne, as his grandmother, am with you on the first thought.... however as Alexander wrote that the man is "a poor confused soul" so yes, he needs much prayer. As a counselor I usually tell people that no matter what ugliness is thrown your way by someone else, it is only a fraction of the pain they carry around inside themselves.

Crazy day.

Anyone know the answer to this puzzle? My 9 year old has it for HW. Google is no help.

Is the word Up over the word house?

Up is a "way" the word house is halved so my guess is "halfway house".

Ugh,.....I've been awake since 2:30!!! I don't know what's up with this headache! I guess I shouldn't complain since I rarely have insomnia or headaches anymore, but I do have things to do today, and I need to be alert in the afternoon.

It took me all day yesterday to make 2 BIG pots of yummy vegetable-beef soup. I am taking most of one to a friend that is very sick. I am stopping at a nice restaurant/ bakery to pick up a hearty loaf of bread, or rolls, and see what else they have. We had some for our dinner last night, and I must say, it was delicious!!! I make it the old fashioned, take forever way,....but it's so worth it!!! Yummy!!!

We settled on "Up on the housetop". I rejected that because of the Christmas theme but it's the closest.

After struggling with it for quite awhile I really wanted to write, "Up too late and on my way to the halfway house after this assignment". LOL

Linda - your soup sounds good!

Jen - can't wait to find out what the answer is. I love those kind of riddles, but sometimes they can drive you bonkers trying to figure them out!
