Drew's medical issues seem so minor compared to what others are going through, though with his cath coming up maybe I should.
Jen, sweetie, Drew's medical issues are not minor. Have had a heart cath myself and it is a major thing. Don't compare your situation with someone else because Drew is going through difficult things for one so young and it is hard on mommy, too. <3
jen- I agree with Caterina- Please don't make little of Drew's issues. He is a trooper. I am thinking about the three of you! Take care my friend. Glad you have electricity again!
Sherry- That is cold for Texas. You will have to layer your clothes like the northerners do!
Hedgie- You are younger than me... so you are not an old lady!
we are having great weather for this time of year!
My mama, Preston and I are flying to Iowa tomorrow to see my Grandma. She was put back in the hospital a few weeks ago. She's home now, but you never know what might happen. I haven't seen her since 2005. She's my last living grandparent. I'm praying the flight goes smoothly with Preston. Thank goodness I'll have help!!! We're flying into Chicago and then driving 3+ hours to Iowa. I won't have computer access for a week!

We'll be home next Wednesday.
Have a safe trip!
You and Preston will do great. Just be calm. He can sense if you are stressed. Bring finger foods - cheerios, etc. My kids loved plane rides, because they would get fruit loops, which usually aren't allowed - I know he isn't old enough, but if you can find something fun, that'll do wonders! Perhaps a new little toy?

Jennifer - it was almost easier flying when my girls were little! Marie complains now if a plane ride is longer than two hours. Oy! How long is the flight? Being without internet will probably be your biggest issue! Although when I go to the beach, I don't usually miss it - too busy doing other things.
My poor Tiki - she's our oldest dog, we think she is 12. Bill thinks he stepped on her paw yesterday. She has been limping and her rear legs have never been particularly steady. She is a very, very long dog and always walked and sat funny. She just looks pathetic right now though. And I just found that one of them peed in the dog bed. I'm assuming it was her - maybe she couldn't move, but UGH. And it went through to the floor. Just a little, but annoying nonetheless.
jennifer- Have a good trip. I think the normal give him something to suck on during take off and landing a few toys, books, and healthy snacks. Praying for your grandma!
jen- can you send me the link to Drew's site?
Joanne- feeling sorry for Tiki. Do you think she needs to see the vet?
Update on DH's niece from her mom: I took her back to the E.R. about midnight-she was doing alright but had lots of stomach pain from the surgery. She woke me up crying because she had chest pains & couldn't breath. After a CAT scan & extensive blood work-it was determined that she has pancreatic inflammation. They are keeping her for a couple days to let her pancreas heal & then she can come home. It was a long rough night but hopefully now that they know what was causing the pain, she can heal. Thanks for all the prayers, she needs them
I am busy getting organized for our appt tomorrow. I am also making dinner for two families still without power. Thinking homemade mac and cheese, salad and fried chicken or meatloaf. Maybe I'll do green beans or broccoli if there is a good sale.

I heard from my SIL that schools near her are closed through the rest of the week. Since they also had two days at the beginning of the school year, due to the hurricane, they already have 7 snow days used. They are going to have a lot of time to make up. Horrible!
1. Here's one direct from my son who at four years old had
started attending a Christian daycare. The evening of his
third day there, he insisted on saying "grace" at dinner.
This was his prayer:
"Gone is great! Gone is good!
Let us spank him for our food.
Amen."
2. One particular four-year-old prayed:
"And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who
put trash in our baskets."
3. A teacher was drilling his young students on the
Westminster Confession of Faith. The first question in the
catechism is "What is the chief end of man?" The answer: "To
glorify God and enjoy Him forever."
One youngster seemed quite sure of himself as he anxiously
waved his hand for recognition.
When the teacher called his name, he proudly blurted out,
"The chief end of man is to glorify God and annoy Him
forever!"
He was possibly more right than we'd care to admit!
I am cooking for folks from the mom's club without power. So far I've got a spiral ham in the oven, just made a triple batch of homemade mac and cheese (with a roux) and next up is brownies. The broccoli will be last.

Jen- I just read Drew's site. praying for you both! I left a note, too! You are a wonderful person. Even though you are dealing with so much you are making life easier for others.
Caterina- She is amazing... my mom was blind. She was a great cook and did bead work.
Hope things are better for all the east coast families.

Jen, you are truly a wonderful loving lady to cook for this mom, especially with all that is going on with Drew.
I'm doing OK. Cooking keeps me busy! Though I am cursing all the dishes! LOL I had 3 meals to deliver tonight. Maybe another 1 or 2 in the next couple of days.
I am sooo tired. Just a long day!
School is on for tomorrow.

Hedgie- How is the job going? I always make typos. Typing was the only class in high school that I got a low grade...a C-.
Caterina- Thanks for the kind words about my mom. tomorrow would have been her 97th birthday!
jen- Take care!
I could not correct my typos...on Facebook. Very annoying.
I am wondering why we can not delete a post that is misspelled or worded wrong?
Hedgie, you can delete a post on fb - on the right side of your post is a little arrow, click on it and it will give you options, one being to delete post.
My friend sent me this recipe. I immediately thought of the misfits. I have not made it myself. However, she loves it.

Sometimes I get the remove box and sometimes I don't. I signed in briefly at work on my lunchhour yesterday, and I saw what it supposed to look like. I think it is my computer at home that is the problem.

Oh sweetie, so extremely sorry for how horrible things have been for you lately. How is DH feeling? Sending much love and hugs.

Compuuuuuters.... totally understand. My MAC is over 10 years old, so old that it can no longer take any updates and it is getting wacky.
Morning - Miss Whine-a-lot here today. I have the beginnings of a cold. Scratchy throat, cough, yuck. My head and ears feel all stuffed like I have cotton everywhere. And I have a baby shower to attend tomorrow!!!!
Hedgie - I was wondering how your job is going as well. Since it is all still "new" it can take awhile.
Nikki - I think you need a break. You have been doing so much. With your own school last year, work, etc. I think a change would be good for your mental health!!! But I thought your DH wanted to retire?
