Reynold took me to the orthopedic specialist about my shoulder pain. He is the same guy I saw a few years ago who wanted to do surgery but thought to try the cortisone shots which have helped. However, he said that with the number of shots so far that he would strong recommend the surgery as the shots can cause breakdown of tendons and other problems. So am scheduled to an arthrogram CT scan on Nov. 10 with a follow up with him to discuss surgery. The doctor made me laugh when he said, 'this usually happens with having all those birthdays'.

My niece was admitted to the hospital last night and confirmed that she DOES have MS. Her Neurologist is meeting with her, her fiancee and her parents this evening to talk to them about what to expect with this nasty disease, and her treatment plan. Please keep Rachel in your prayers. She is a beautiful young woman that is as sweet as can be. I am sick about this!!! She is busy making wedding plans for March, 2012. She also is supposed to have serious back surgery next month.

Linda, so very sorry to hear about your sweet niece, Rachel. How awful for her and her family. MS is such a horrible disease and know of a couple people who had it. Sending much love, hugs and prayers.

Cat and LInda - too many birthdays is a GOOD thing!

Joan - I am thankful for your husband's and sister's service along with all of the others that have served. Please do share that with him.

Jen - we are bracing for 6-10 inches of snow after hours of rain. The band competition for today has been cancelled. The kids are bittersweet about it. Nice to have an entire weekend off this time of year, BUT it was our BIG dinner for them and we were decorating the serving room for Halloween. The dinner this weekend was turkey & gravy, ham, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, stuffing, cranberry sauce - you get the picture.

OK we're in good shape my 'yawag' hubby went to the grocery yesterday and also did some light housework. I will make a big pot of his favorite chili and about 3 pounds of meatballs (big costco trip on Thursday). Then I hope to spend the rest of the weekend in my craft room! My big holiday card camp is next weekend and I have 130 cards to prep for that alone--not counting my OWN cards!

Please vote for IHS on the Subway HS Heroes FB page!

Liz- I have voted! Sorry that you are having winter weather so early. It made me think of 1991. We have the Halloween storm of the century. We got 20 some inches of snow in 36 hrs. I have had family members in the military since WWI.
Linda- thinking about your niece.
Thinking of the rest of my misfit friends.

Right now they are saying 9 - 13 inches of snow!!! I can't believe it! I still need to dig out my snowblower.
It is bitter cold here. Brrr!!!
Both boys have soccer around noon! I am doing electricity dependent things - laundry, dishwasher, etc. I need to get gas and was planning to run to WM for a couple of things too...not sure that we'll get there, but Jack volunteered to bring in gumballs for a project on Mon. Why couldn't he have picked something that I actually have in the house!!!

Morning. It has started snowing here. It was supposed to rain all day (like Liz) and turn to snow around 6 p.m. It was snowing by 9:30 this morning - I don't know what this means for snow totals now. We were expecting as much as 4 inches (which I doubted). Now, I'm not sure. This is crazy!

Jen - Thinking of you and your little guy.

Cat - Bill had shoulder surgery and it went super well. I will pray the same for you.

Oh my,.....All you that are getting snow and cold, please stay safe and warm!!!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I think I did too much Thursday and yesterday, and am not feeling too well this morning. I am going to take it easy this weekend, and knit. The sun is shining, and it is 45 degrees here, with a high of about 60 degrees.

WOKE UP TO THAT HORRIBLE FOUR-LETTER WORD... S-N-O-W..... it is mixed with sleet and only 33 degrees outside. Definitely NOT ready for cold winter. Reynold said would I like him to evict the renters in the house in Florida... sounds like a plan....

This is an oldie that has been around but still cute...

The Cat
========

He had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid
to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down.

The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he
tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could
then reach up and get the kitten.

He did all this, checking his progress in the car frequently, then figured
if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently
for him to reach the kitten.

But as he moved a little further forward, the rope broke.

The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air -
out of sight.

The pastor felt terrible.

He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little
kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, "Lord, I just
commit this kitten to your keeping," and went on about his business.

A few days later he was at the grocery store and met one of his church
members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. Now this woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, "Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?"

She replied, "You won't believe this," and told him how her little girl had
been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before,
the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, "Well
if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it?"

(Can you see where this is heading?)

She told the pastor, "I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her
knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this,
but I saw it with my own eyes.

A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread,
and landed right in front of her."

Never underestimate the Power of God and what may appear to be breaking on one end, is answering prayer on another.

Good plan. Stay safe. I can't believe it!

The boots and coats must be flying off the shelves. I remember one year we had this gorgeous Oct/early November. I did not have the girls outfitted with their gear. I think we were wearing shorts in November!

Then at Thanksgiving we had a HUGE storm....every store was sold out of kids boots and such....It was before online shopping and I struggled to find anything for them....never waited again!

We had a lull but it is snowing like mad again. I have no idea how much to expect. Since it is cold and getting colder it might start making the roads slick. I'm glad we don't have to go out again.

I did see some of my relatives in NY posting on FB that they have so much accumulating that the limbs are breaking on trees. That is what I worry about the most. Some friends around here have lost power, too. Oh and another friend doesn't have heat! That has nothing to do with the storm, but still - not the day for it!

Thinking of all of you and in East. It is toooooo early for snow storms no matter where you live in the USA.

Starting to get bad out here.

Power starting to go out and it's only been snowing for 3 hours and it's really not that much accumulation yet!!
We still have power, but lots of flickering going on between power and cable. Some friends are already out.
Lots of road accidents reported. Plows have been through. I've bumped the heat for my poor sick boy. He's been sitting on the heating vents (I have floor vents)

It has been snowing most of the day, but we did have that lull. It came back with a vengeance though. I don't know if it is sticking to the roads, but I did hear a plow go through. With it being so much colder now, I imagine the roads can be affected. I know power is out in various places around here. Our lights have flickered several times during the day.

Stay safe my East Coast Misfits!

I would love to do it again sometime. We had it at my work place which was good a friend was able to bring her children. So it worked out well. If i had a house I would have it there. My apt is just too small. I just hate packing up all the goodies and then unpacking .

Hope you all have a great SUNDAY. Going to church in the morning then going with my friend with her children tomorrow night for a Trunk or Treat at another friends church.

The white stuff still covering most everything except the streets. Grateful we did not lose power or get all inches that others got. Hope everyone who got hit with the snow are doing okay and have power.

Nichole- Sounds like you have a great stamping day! Hope you have a great day at work!
Stay safe all of my eastern friends.

We still have not turned the heat on at our house. It is 67 degrees in here this morning. It is cool and cloudy today! I want to make cards today... but I have no mojo!

Sunday chuckles

BOB HOPE America’s funny man passed away 07-27-2003 at age 100

CLASSIC HOPE(S):

ON TURNING 70: "You still chase women, but only downhill."

ON TURNING 80: "That's the time of your life when even your birthday suit
needs pressing."

ON TURNING 90: "You know you're getting old when the candles cost more
than the cake."

ON TURNING 100: "I don't feel old. In fact, I don't feel anything until
noon. Then it's time for my nap."

ON GIVING UP HIS EARLY CAREER IN BOXING: "I ruined my hands in the ring
... the referee kept stepping on them."

ON SAILORS: "They spend the first six days of each week sowing their wild
oats, then they go to church on Sunday and pray for crop failure."

ON NEVER WINNING AN OSCAR: "Welcome to the Academy Awards or, as it's called at my home, 'Passover'."

ON GOLF: "Golf is my profession. Show business is just to pay the green
fees."

ON PRESIDENTS: "I have performed for 12 presidents and entertained only
six."

ON WHY HE CHOSE SHOWBIZ FOR HIS CAREER: "When I was born, the doctor said to my mother, 'Congratulations. You have an eight-pound ham'."

ON RECEIVING THE CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL: "I feel very humble, but I think I have the strength of character to fight it."

ON HIS FAMILY'S EARLY POVERTY: "Four of us slept in the one bed. When it
got cold, mother threw on another brother."

ON HIS SIX BROTHERS: "That's how I learned to dance. Waiting for the
bathroom."

ON HIS EARLY FAILURES: "I would not have had anything to eat if it wasn't
for the stuff the audience threw at me."

ON GOING TO HEAVEN: "I've done benefits for ALL religions. I'd hate to
blow the hereafter on a technicality."
