During my week b/n jobs I am:
1) getting my furnace checked
2)getting a badly needed hair cut.
3)taking my cat to the vet, which is very overdue. She is older and should have had labs months ago given she is on thyroid and prednisone meds.
4)purging my closet of all ill fitting clothing...if it was not fitting right when I was smaller, I won't like it when I get smaller again!
5)going to visit my Dad who will be leaving for AZ for the winter November 1
6)cleaning out makeup drawer which is entirely gross
7)drink coffee and stare out the window as needed!! watch episodes of shows I like, like Downton Abbey....
Hedgie - glad you have some fun things planned for your time off.
Jennifer - I'm sure the party will be a huge success. You are so great with the food! How many people are you expecting?
It was warm, humid, rainy and gloomy for most of the day. Warmer than I expected and rain was NOT in the forecast! By Monday it is supposed to be in the high 60s. It will feel more like autumn. I will be happy to wear my two autumn-themed sweaters next week!
Been doing more organizing and sorting. It is slow going and I have a lot to do. I just figure if I'm in the mood, I'll do it. However, the regular housework needs to be done, too. Bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming. And I'm not online when I'm doing these things so I miss my friends!
We haven't heard from Jen in awhile. Hope others can check in as well.
It is 1:30 and I can't fall asleep. I wrote down all the things I want/need to do tomorrow and some other things, so that isn't rolling around in my head. I just can't fall asleep. I'm weird.
I'm trying to find a carpet cleaning company and it's quite overwhelming! I'm just going to do the lower 2 rooms and the stairs. I don't have time to move everything in all the upstairs rooms and we'll have it blocked off for the party anyway.
Jennifer I looked around before I decided on a place that is "green". It cleaned the carpets well, had zero odor or chemicals. Was dry in an hour or less.
Joanne-My to do list is pretty much chores...not too much fun. But it's gotta get done!
Good Morning, having a hard time getting motivated this morning, its cold and dark outside. Good day to stay home and drink coffee and do laundry.
too bad its not Saturday, I have a meeting today that I would just like to fast forward through. Hopefully people will surprise me and behave themselves for a change.
Hedgie, enjoy your time off. I'm envious of your to do list. I'm going to take time this weekend to look out the window and drink coffee. Thanks for the idea.
Jennifer - I'm sorry about your tooth, hopefully the dentist can fix it pronto!
Cat - poor Conrad! Hope he feels better very soon! I'm sure he loves the spoiling and attention from you and Reynold!
We have 1/2 carpet and 1/2 wood floors. I do love the wood! We did go back with Carpet in the living room , as it is on the north side of our house and tends to get very cold in the winter!
My cousin just called and offered me a free trip to Vegas and a ticket to the rodeo on 12/14. Can't wait, trying to pull it all together now!
I remember all those birthday parties for my 2 kids. Shanna's was in January, and the weather was always bad. It seems like she was always sick too. We had her surprise party when she turned 16 at a Pizza place, and there was an ice storm. Her and her boyfriend were over an hour late. We had to keep feeding those hungry teenagers while I was worrying!
Jason's birthday is in June, so it was always a barbeque outside. I loved having them outside! I don't ever being rained out.
Jennifer - I hope you are getting that crown repaired as I type this. There are always people who don't RSVP to invitations - too bad it is your inlaws, though.
My brother's birthday is the end of July. Surprisingly, he got tonsilities the first four or five years of his life. On his birthday. He didn't get a party until he was a little older.
I've folded laundry and I have three loads to go. Two are actually small, but I think I'm going to do them anyway. I have ironing, but it is going to be too warm to do that today. Highs we could get close to 80! YIKES
One morning Grandma was over at the doctor's house when her
daughter called, who was sort of frantic because her son had
swallowed a penny. The daughter wanted Grandma to ask the
doctor if she should bring the boy in to be seen.
When she asked the doc, he calmly replied, "I don't think
it's necessary. Just watch him closely for any change."
High cholesterol.... see this interview with Dr. Sinatra (yes he's related to Frank). PLEASE take care of yourselves so you will live a long and healthy life.

Super busy over here! I've overextended myself, as usual!
Last night I was elected Communications/Public Relations Officer for the little league. That's a pretty big job but I know that it's far better than being in charge of concessions or the fields!
Sat I am hosting the team soccer party. I MUST get my house clean and decluttered!
Tomorrow I am volunteering at the middle school's move a thon day. (Kids get pledges to exercise for the afternoon.)
I've had a throat infection too. Don't think it was strep but it was achy and swollen.

I do like doing for others. Just part of my nature. Tomorrow I am subbing half day in the same place I was for the past 3 days (and I was requested so how could I not?). But that works perfectly because then I am volunteering at Jack's school at noon.
I am cooking a turkey for the party on Sat so I might make that on Fri. No sub job yet. We'll see what pops up.
The president is coming on Sat. and the military helicopters have been unreal! They are flying low and scanning the area. We're on one of the flight routes into the airport but the planes don't usually come over my house. Air Force One usually does though! Have only seen it once. They never tell what time he's coming in so I didn't have my camera handy. Maybe I'll get lucky on Sat!

The only markers I use are SU. I'm afraid to try Copics. Mostly because of the additional expense to purchase them!
Did I tell you that I had found some scrapping kits from SU in my stash of stuff? I made a few 6x6 scrapbook pages. I don't know if it will be easier or more difficult to find pictures to fit rather than scrap around the picture. I am just intimidated by whole idea! How many of you are scrapbookers? I know I should know this, but I am thinking I only remember Sherry and Liz really talking about scrapping.
Ok I know I have asked this a million times...but what markers do you all like?
Copics, alcohol? SU? How do I find out what I like??
Karen, I use Copic Markers almost 100% of the time. They are an alcohol marker, and are quite expensive. However, I enjoy the experience of using them, and the ability to blend, to shadow and highlight my picture.
I bought mine little at a time, and watched for sales.
When Obama came here a couple years ago, same thing military jets scanning the tops of buildings, checking out the varies paths, helicopters, etc....

I have SU markers as well as Copics. I love the copics because they make the coloring look so nice. At first only had a few but recently copics had an anniversary special that I was able to get from my local craft store on installments. They are a bit pricey but you can look out for deals. Would strongly suggest that you take a basic copic class before you decide anything.
Here is a copic thread you might want to check out Copic Chatter
Morning. It is a bit gloomy here today. Foggy and just "spitting" rain. LOTS of leaves came down in the last day or so. Our driveway is covered - and of course they are sticking because everything is wet.
It seems the sun is hiding today... as beautiful as it was yesterday, they are talking about possible s-n-o-w because of the storm making its way up the east coast.
I did my nurse's training at a hospital in Liverpool,
England. My fellow students and I had little money for
meals, so we ate the awful food provided at the hospital
complex.
We often took our breaks in the kitchen and sometimes kindly
visitors would give us some of the treats they had brought
for patients who had not wanted to eat them.
One night a woman brought a pie to the kitchen and said to
me, "Would you eat this up, love?"
Another student and I devoured every delicious crumb!
Soon our benefactor returned, however, and asked, "Is me
'usband's pie 'ot yet, dearie?" (hot yet?)
We got our first snowflakes last night - just a few. My mama came over after work and helped me finish the backyard. I got the deck painted (touch ups and the underside), she pulled weeds (behind our fence), we moved all of Preston's toys off the patio, brought my flower pots in the garage and cleaned up all kinds of other little stuff. I treated her to dinner for all of her hard work. I could have never done that by myself. Brandon was working at the hospital and didn't get home until 10pm.
The carpet cleaners are coming this morning - I'm sure Preston will enjoy watching them work.
I KNOW this is SO important, I would include you in thought!
Most of my life, I haven't been successful in growing out my nails, only to give up. When I worked at the bank, I had my nails done, usually in a french manicure. Since I haven't worked, I haven't messed with them, until about a month ago. I never thought I would paint my nails purple or turquoise!!! I have bought everything I have seen that quarantes will make my nails grow, and strong. My left hand looks pretty good, but I'm having a hard time with my right hand. OK, All you very wise women,......do you have any tips for me?

Linda, have been manicuring my own nails since I was a young teenager and was blessed to get my mom's nails. Over the years people would remark about my nails however I told them that I have to take time every week to keep them going. During a long illness could not to it and my nails became ugly stubs - my friends could not believe it which proves that no matter what you are blessed with, you still need to take good care of it. Rub olive oil on them often along with lemon great stuff! The other thing I use is called Nails Alive because at my age, the nails are starting to become dry and brittle... like the rest of me.
Afternoon. It is gray and dreary here, too. Still rather humid though. I ran some errands, found a pair of dress slacks and a nice sweater. Also a very nice scarf! I love scarves but haven't worn them much. Especially since I gained weight. But I'm hoping as I continue to lose weight I'll feel more comfortable. They are so pretty.
3 hours later, we're home from shopping. We got all the food except for one thing that I have to go to another store for and we stopped at Michael's to get some ribbon I needed.
Our carpet is still very wet. I was hoping it would be dry by now. My kitchen has all of the living room furniture in it and I don't want to put it back on wet carpet. I'd open all of the windows, but it's only 33* outside.
Jennifer - I never wore a scarf until recently! Well, no, I guess I had a scarf from a long time ago that I wore once or twice. I think it was a gift. I just LOVED this one. And Marie wore a red scarf to the wedding we attended a few weeks ago. When we went for pictures for our church directory, I chose to wear it as a spur of the moment. When I saw this one I just had to have it!
I don't wear a scarf indoors usually...just something for the little devils to pull on! LOL It really gets in the way with teaching and all the bending over you do.
Cleaning, cooking, panicking about the party.
Could really use the money to sub tomorrow but could use the day off to clean. Looking for a job but will leave it in God's hands. The problem is I have to take off M and W next week. M Drew has neurology and W Jack has endocrinology and it's Halloween class parent duties. Yep, I signed up for that too!
