Jen, have you ever heard of Deal Dash? Reynold goes on it frequently to bid on Apple products as well as to get other things. Unbelievably new Macs have gone for as little as $100.

Reynold got several gift cards for one cent.

Chuckle for today...

The Seamstress

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to
a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried
out, the Lord appeared and asked, "My dear child, why are
you crying?"

The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the
water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a
living for their family.

The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a
golden thimble set with pearls.

"Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

The seamstress replied, "No."

The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver
thimble ringed with sapphires.

"Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

Again, the seamstress replied, "No."

The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather
thimble. "Is this your thimble?" the Lord asked.

The seamstress replied, "Yes."

The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her
all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home
happy.

Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her
husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the
river and disappeared under the water.

When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her,
"Why are you crying?"

"Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with Tom
Selleck.

"Is this your husband?" the Lord asked.

"Yes," cried the seamstress.

The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"

The seamstress replied, "Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a
misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to Tom
Selleck, you would have come up with Brad Pitt. Then if I
said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband.
Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three.
Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to
take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why I said 'yes'
to Tom Selleck."

And so the Lord let her keep him.

The moral of this story is: Whenever a woman lies, it's for
a good and honorable reason, and in the best interest of
others.

That's our story, and we're sticking to it.

Signed,
All Us Women

I'm getting ready to send out invitations for Preston's birthday party - my baby is almost THREE!!! He is talking so much now and it's so fun to have conversations together. I love my little pumpkin!

We're going away for the weekend. Robert is off all 3 days so we're going to our favorite hot springs west of Denver. We rented a cabin so we can have more room and a full kitchen. I'm going to make some stuff today so we can take it up there and not have to eat out. It's a small town and they don't have many restaurants. So looking forward to this trip!!!

Jennifer - your weekend sounds heavenly! I can't believe Preston is going to be three! Where is the time going? Of course, I have a 22 year old and 20 year old. So I REALLY don't know where the time has gone!

Finally a good day. I had my performance review and was pleased. Plus I love this job...so there are positives!!

Negativity with my Dad was an issue this week. My ankle does seem to be hurting a bit more, so this weekend, I am going to have to really take it easy. It is more swollen again.

And truly, this is the end of week 5 and it is getting depressing. I only go to work and home. I have groceries delivered. I have gone into Walgreen's cuz it is smallish and I have needed medical things and can easily pick up things I forget to order from the grocery man.

Tomorrow going to throw a roast in the crock pot and watch Badger Game.

Thank you so very much for caring. I love you all!

I am so ready for bed! These school kids drain me.

Today was another rough day at work. The vice principal came in and ripped the team a new one. He was screaming at the kids about behavior. My homeless kid (who is a scaredlittlepuppy - his mom is an unmedicated bipolar) started to cry. Another kid told me he hates his life and a girl who I am mentoring told me she's grounded for eternity because she told her mom that she should keep her legs closed and stop having babies. Progress reports went home and the number of kids failing is astronomical. Sadly, most parents won't care.

Sometimes I wonder if I am really making a difference or if its all for nothing. I have a feeling I will be taking some mental health days this year!

Jen- How unfortunate! However, it is so true. Many parents don't seem to care how or what their children do. I am so fortunate to deal with the teenagers that I see each day. it is a small catholic 7-12th grade school. So values are enforced and parents are paying dearly so they do care! I pray that more parents wake up and see that their kids need them to be available. Dh and I each worked many jobs, went without, and still figured out how to be there for our boys. It is hard but well worth the extra effort. Sorry to go off on my soap box.

Jen, it is very difficult to even read that the VP yelled. Surely, the situation is hard, however, believe you are making a difference in these sweet precious children's lives because they know you care.

With some of these children with troubled parents, can child services be called or notified that the kids may be in bad home environment.

Reynold and I just watched the documentary, Monumental, with Alexander. It is such an incredible film telling the story of the pilgrims and all they went through before even getting on the Mayflower. Would highly recommend it to everyone, especially parents with children. It might help the parents recognize their responsibilities to their children and future generations.

Did not even know such a documentary existed. Thank you Cat... I have always had a huge interest in the history of the landings on the East Coast, etc... and the England side of things...

I am extremely interested....

The VP should be fired. Screaming at children with needs? Really?
I think he should be reported to authorities.. but I know that is a difficult thing to do.

Jen, you do make a difference. Thank God you are there!!!

Reynold and I saw it in the theater (it only had a one-night showing). We then purchased it to share with others. We both found it well done, giving information neither of us ever heard about the pilgrims. These people were truly amazing and inspirational.

Thanks Cat! I will definitely check into this.

I have a chuck roast in the crockpot, it is the packet recipe I think Nikki or Sherry posted a while back. Super easy. I was going to make an apricot glazed chicken for the crockpot but my ankle it bothering me, it requires several ingredients, will save that for tomorrow.

Ordered aprons from a place called Wayfair. They are cute. Got them both the same. Christmas is one time, it has to be the same..!!

Otherwise I do different things for each of them...

I have to stop. I have gotten them enuf while being lame. But, a good feeling to be mostly done.

Joanne, hope you are feeling better, I know you have been struggling with URI symptoms.

Afternoon. Feeling much, much better. Don't know what changed? I do not have bronchitis (although doc gave me a script just in case). I started feeling better last night. Still was very tired, tho. Bill and I slept in this morning. Then we went and got pumpkins, corn stalk, hay bale and the biggest, most beautiful yellow mum for only $9! So, our fall decorating is basically done. I do have some things I need from the attic (cute autumn leaves that are tea light holders and my only truly Halloween pumpkin house that holds a tea light).

No one I know has felt good this last week. The weather has not changed drastically... I am not sure why...

Everyone has felt extreme fatigue and can not overcome, no matter how many hours they sleep...

DH and I went to the Diabetes Expo today. we took the bus. After 3 transfers we arrived 2 blocks away. We stayed for about 3 hours and visited many organizations. we tried a Ken's BBQ sauce that is low in cabs. it tastes good! Dh wanted a bottle. They were $3 at the expo.

Howdy!

The kids needed the screaming. They are out of control. Unfortunately due to the parenting they receive it is the only thing that gets their attention. You have to speak their language. Now, my job is to to not scream as sped. ( not a screamer anyway). Good cop/bad cop. Sad reality of inner city teaching.

Jackson had a tough day in goal as his team was way overmatched. I stopped counting at 12 saves but sadly he let in 6 goals. Not his fault as we only had 3 shots on goal the entire game. They had at least 20. He was devastated.

We went out to dinner with my BF and his youngest. Fun. My kids really like him as do I.

Tracking my training friend who is doing the ironman in Hawaii today. She's almost done with the bike. What an accomplishment!!!

Jen- it is sad! I feel bad for the kids who have awful parents. The sermon at church tonight was about parents teaching their kids respect and gratitude. I thought of you. He spoke about adults who have never learned to say please and thank you! My mind immediately went to my work place. Sorry that Jackson had such a hard day in goal. Give him an extra hug from me! I am sure happy that you and the boys get along with your BF.

I found you!!! I've missed you somehow, and missed hearing what has been happening in your lives.

I've had a few changes. I found my counselor. I got a new phone book, and there she was! I saw her last week, and have appointments every week for awhile. I made a comment on a friend's FB post, and we talked for a while. We used to be best friends. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding 6 years ago, and our friendship just fizzled away. Anyway, we had lunch Friday, then we went and both bought 2 pairs of eye glasses (one regular, and one prescription sunglasses).

On her FB, I was commenting on a witches hat that she had made. So I bought one. It's my only decoration for Halloween this year. It's about 20" tall, stuffed, and decorated with turquoise and silver ribbon, feathers and small glittery pumpkins. It has a lot of bling. Tomorrow, I'm going to wrap it with some battery light strands. It's supposed to be a table centerpiece, but mine is on my coffee table. I see my coffee table better than my dining and kitchen tables. Just like Christmas, I'm not very conventional. I usually decorate in silver and turquoise. However, I have about any color combination of Christmas decoration.

It is good to have found you again!!! I will have to read more of your posts tomorrow!

Linda, hello! I am glad to hear you found a good counselor. I have gone to mine on and off now for 10 years. I know now when it is time to start again. Sometimes I wait too long. In any event, I have never regretting spending the time or money.

I have an apricot chicken thing in the crockpot. Will be happy to have both the roast beef and the chicken leftovers for the week. I have been scouring for recipes.. found some good ones from a site where this woman assembles the meals, freezes them. Then, she sticks them in the crockpot when she leaves for work, has a meal when she gets home. I may evolve into doing that, but for now, just trying some of the recipes....for leftovers.

I am absolutely unable to find any nice but thrify lounge pants and tops for the weekends. I have worn 2 pairs of lounge pants right out for past 4 years. I don't want to look like I am in pj's, need to be able to run to the store, but want cozy things. Does anyone have any ideas? There are some really nice ones, that are way too much $$. The less expensive are sweats. Guess I'd like something in between.

I found some fleece sets that look like they would fit a woman, not a junior, on Blair. I hope they arrive as nice as they look on-line.

If I had tomorrow off, I might still take a snooze... seems when I do, I still have going to sleep by 10...

I have a vent. I looked high and low at the regular stores for basic sweats or lounge wear...

When are the stores going to get it? I ended up at old fashioned Blair.... and I hope the things come as represented. I could see on line, there was nothing at the major dept stores that I would wear or would fit me.

I wear exercise wear as loungewear or yoga pants. Usually from target. I need some too. I actually am wearing a pair of skinny jeans with stretch from Lee from WM and they are sooo comfortable! I did buy a size bigger.

Hedgie, have you tried HSN or QVC, have gotten some nice comfy and attractive ones there. Especially check out their clearance section, over the years have picked up some nice bargains.
