I vaguely remember waking up during the night last night, checking to make sure my alarm was on. Well, what I did was turn it off.
Needless to day, I overslept! Great start to the week!

Hugs Jen!

Let's hope the week improves!

My party yesterday went well. It was for Thrive Foods. It's freeze dried food made for disaster preparedness or you can just eat it out of the cans like we do as a healthy, no-mess snack. It's freeze dried so it retains all of the nutrients and there's no added salt, sugar, preservatives and most of it is gluten-free and they have a lot of organic options. Everything we have tasted has been delicious. I mostly got it for snacks for Preston, but I might branch out and try some ingredients for recipes. Our favorites are the corn, the pineapple and the yogurt bites. My party is open until the 31st - let me know if anyone wants to order anything. No pressure, just wanted to offer

Chuckle...

Don't Mess with Mom

My son came home from school one day,
with a smirk upon his face.
He'd decided he was smart enough,
to put me in my place.

"Guess what I learned in Civics Two,
that's taught by Mr. Wright?
It's all about the laws today,
The "Children's Bill of Rights."

It says I need not clean my room,
don't have to cut my hair.
No one can tell me what to think,
or speak, or what to wear.

I have freedom from religion,
and regardless what you say,
I don't have to bow my head,
and I sure don't have to pray.

I can wear earrings if I want,
and pierce my tongue & nose.
I can read & watch just what I like,
and get tattoos from head to toes.

And if you ever spank me,
I'll charge you with the crime.
I'll back up all my charges,
with the marks on my behind.

Don't you ever touch me,
my body's only for my use,
not for your hugs and kisses,
that's just more child abuse.

Don't preach about your morals,
like your mama did to you.
That's nothing more than mind control,
And it's illegal too!

Mom, I have these children's rights,
so you can't influence me,
or I'll call Children's Services Division,
better known as C.S.D. "

Of course my first instinct was
To toss him out the door
But the chance to teach a lesson
made me think a little more.

I mulled it over carefully,
I couldn't let this go.
A smile crept upon my face,
he's messing with a pro.

The next day I took him shopping
at the local Goodwill Store
I told him, "Pick out all you want,
there's shirts & pants galore.

I've called and checked with C.S.D.,
who said they didn't care
if I bought you K-Mart shoes
instead of those Nike Airs.

And I've canceled that appointment
to take your driver's test.
The C.S.D. is unconcerned
so I'll decide what's best. "

I said "No time to stop and eat,
or pick up stuff to munch.
And tomorrow you can start to learn
to make your own sack lunch.

Just save that raging appetite,
and wait 'til dinner time.
We're having liver and onions,
a favorite dish of mine.

He asked "Can I please rent a movie,
To watch on my VCR?"
"Sorry, but I sold your TV,
for new tires on my car.

I also rented out your room,
you'll take the couch instead.
The C.S.D. requires
just a roof above your head.

Your clothing won't be trendy now,
and I'll choose what we eat.
That allowance that you used to get,
will buy me something neat.

I'm selling off your jet ski,
dirt-bike & roller blades.
Check out the "Parent's Bill of Rights",
It's in effect today!

Hey hot shot, are you crying,
and why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out,
instead of C.S.D.?

Good Morning everyone!

I saw some pictures of the snow in Rapid City! Oh My! It was beautiful, but this is way early for a blizzard! We have some friends that just moved up there!

Busy Weekend, the 50th Anniversary party was a hit on Friday Night! Everyone said they had a great time!

Saturday was big parade in our small town. Our high school band marched in the parade, then loaded up and went to Amarillo for a marching contest. They WON the WHOLE thing! Plus outstanding for the flags and something else, now I can't remember! they did so good! We are so proud of them!

Sunday, I just sat there with my feet up! I was so tired. We didn't go to bed until after midnight both nights. I was just pooped!

We have another marching contest this Saturday! Please Wish the kids luck!

Hedgie - sounds like you had a crazy crazy Monday!

Nice fall weather here! I'm loving it!

Nikki - you are such a busy woman..........on the road again

Jennifer - sounds like y'all had a great time at the apple festival! I like to do things like that!

Anyone thinking about Christmas gifts???? I started yesterday kinda putting together a list. I'm planning a couple rag quilts and hopefully make a diaper bag for Sara. I also have a couple more baby afghans to crochet for new babies coming!

Have a great day!

Sherry

Just received an email from UMMC requesting that as a volunteer to register for an assignment on empathy at Shock Trauma. Was able to get a time slot on one of the days that I am there to volunteer with the kids.

Good Afternoon Ladies, I think it should be friday already, who's with me
And I didn't have to be at work until noon today. We are entering that slow time in the market and so I have to take some time off unpaid each month. Not complaining tho, would rather do this then see layoffs. I received a promotion in September which was nice, Paul has been unemployed since August. I really hate Centurylink, I will never switch over to any of the service that they offer. They don't do right by their employees. Paul is job hunting daily and will most likely go back to school next semester .

Sherry, I have been pinning things to my Christmas crafts board/Crafty things etc on Pinterest in the hopes of making most of my Christmas gifts this year. I found plans for a bunk bed for American Girl Dolls. We are going to modify it for my niece Sammie, she loves Doc McStuffin (SP) The top will be the exam table for her stuffed animals and the bottom will be a bed for any stuffie that needs an overnight stay.

Hope you are all doing fabulous!

Heather- Guess who my Dh works for? He is out on Workman's Comp since March. he has to sign up for SSDisabilty. Sorry that you guys are going thru such a rough time.

Sherry- WOW! I think you need a break.

Caterina- That sounds like an interesting assignment at the Hospital. I know you will be good at it.

As for Christmas.... I haven't even given it a thought!

Heather - that sounds like a great gift idea. How cute!

Sherry - how did the visit with the person you weren't sure of turn out? You certainly were busy.

All of you are busier than I am and I get exhausted just reading about it all!

Since I opened the windows my allergies are acting up again. I'm feeling a tightness like bronchitis. I wonder if I'll need something more and maybe an inhaler for fall allergies. I hope not.

Today was even crazier... seriously. We had ppl throwing papers and stuff all around. I stayed calm, I can't do much other than sit. I had tons of calls and didn't get nervy or swear. Sickest ones first... one thing at a time. I watched the chaos and thought it was seriously stupid. Too much complaining, rather than being calm, reassuring and just getting thru the day.

After work I had a grocery delivery... I have ingredients to make some great meals ahead! Then, I ran to the FedEx place and shipped the Molly collection we are selling. Unfortunately it cost a ton to ship it, we had her white trunk on top of other things, was very heavy. I way underestimated the cost of shipping. But, I am happy they wrapped things so carefully and there should not be any issues.

I got to Walgreens.. Senior Citizen day!! One day only! Well I picked up my prescriptions and inquired how old one needs to be? 55! Well hog dog... I got more Ace sockie things for my ankle, cashews, all the OTC meds I will need for at least until Dec...etc!! 20% off! I guess I shouldn't be excited, but I was!!

Garbage night, collected and took it out. Filled the dishwasher... now elevating the leg and relaxing. Gonna sleep in and relax tomorrow!

Just a thought... if Christmas is causing any anxiety... pls don't feel you must do the secret santa. I was eager at first but I thought about how many of us have so much on our plates.

I guess I am for it, given the expectations are low-key, just a fun gift in the mail. Could we trim it to one or two items... and what is the $$ limit?

Jo, keep your windows closed and air on. It is really bad right now! If you are having chest tightness you need to be seen. You are having airway reactive issues, to allergens, environment, weather...

Don't feel bad, this is a huge problem at the moment.

I'm fine with scaling down the SS gift. I hate the pressures of the holidays but a surprise in the mail would be fun. How about a $20 limit including shipping?

That sounds good to me Jennifer. I so enjoy my SS gift. I gaze at it for days, I make a little ceremony out of opening it. I get a cup of coffee and just slowly enjoy. There is something about getting a special something from a girlfriend!

I'm feeling much better this morning. A little chilly! Time to pull out the socks and real shoes. I dislike giving up my comfy sandals!

My mama took today off so we're heading over to help her move furniture and do some things around the house. She's paying me by feeding us lunch - works for me!!

Hedgie - I think you should call your dad and get an explanation so you're not worrying all day.

It's a beautiful day - we may have to sneak over to a park and play for a bit. Cold weather is moving in tomorrow.

Sherry - it was me who asked. I'm SO glad it went well!!!!! That's like icing on the cake!

Jennifer - I am so jealous of the time you get to spend with your mom. My parents are just far enough away that it takes planning to get there. My brother is only an hour away - very doable for a quick visit. Not me

I still have this terrible cough. My boss has been sick since September 13th. So at school today one of the students tells me his sister has whopping cough. When the nurse came to the lunchroom, I asked. Sure enough about 7 kids have been diagnosed. I guess I need to look up info. I will be really angry if I have it.

Hello all!

It's been a stressful week. Just keeping on going! Standardized testing sucks! LOL

Boys are good. Busy. It is soccer and baseball season. Soccer is the primary sport. Jackson's team is playing in a tournament this weekend. First game is 1/2 hour way at 7:30 am on Sat. Ouch!

I have no kids tonight and no meeting, no date, nothing! Guess who is going to bed at 7 pm?!!!!! I'm already in comfy, old sweats!

Had a six year old boy today at UMMC who was so adorable and sooooo active. He wanted to play with two little plastic guys in various goodguys/bad guys scenarios. He had quite an imagination, wore me out and wanted me to stay to play with him even though my volunteer time was over. Childlfe does not want volunteers to stay over their time slots.

How sweet Cat! I am sure you were a delightful play companion for him!
He must adore you... Hope you can spend time with him again.

Hope this brings a smile...

A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little ones' chest would plug the stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own heart. Their eyes would always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David's comment. Gently she tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his heart. 'Listen', she said...'What do you suppose that is?' He drew his eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked up as if lost in the mystery of the strange tap - tap - tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he asked,

'Is that Jesus knocking?

Good morning. It is a dreary rainy day. It's supposed to be like that for the next few days. Maybe I'll make some soup . . .

My bad luck/period of time continues. Can't seem to win for trying.

Raining like crazy here, too, Joanne. We really need it. Soup sounds good!

We will have a very special guy spending time with us this weekend... our favorite first-born grandson, Alexander. Have been unable to visit since May so am looking forward to the extra time!

I am making that balsamic chicken in the CP recipe that has been all over FB. My friends give it really good reviews. I threw in some broccoli rabe on top. My kids should be thrilled!

I called the doctor today because I am NOT getting relief from these allergies. Scratchy throat, itchy ears, fuzzy headache and now the pressure in my chest that feels like bronchitis. I've tried every over-the-counter med. Used my inhaler from my last bout of bronchitis (it is good through next year). So tomorrow I'll get more answers - I hope!
