In the living room, the TV and VCR were unplugged. She was lucky that they were probably inexperienced kids, that were unarmed. Of course, Steve was concerned about his new Corvette that was in the garage, however, it was untouched.
There has been an increase in home burglary in other areas, and in other cities nearby. I never leave my house with windows open our unlocked.

I decided to get a Landline-phone again today. I've been thinking about it just about as long as we discontinued ours a couple years ago. We sleep upstair, and I forget to take my Cell-phone with me when I go to bed a lot. What would I do without a phone if I heard someone break in? I also need to be available if the kids and family need to get ahold of me if I'm asleep.

How upsetting - have always had a land line phone and will for as long as possible. We even have a very old 'connected w/wires in the wall' phone just in case our power goes out.

We've had a lot of burglaries and home invasions in our little town. Including some where they have gone into family homes while people are sleeping. Very scary!

Sadly, Jen, have found over the years, there are really no safe towns any more. Even some of the gated places have had 'bad guys' try their best to do harm.

My home has been broken into three times over the nearly 42 years living here. One of those times, my 12 year old daughter was home sick while I was working and as she screamed at the dogs to be quiet, the guy left... and he had a key to my house! The police chief who came said that all you can do is make it as difficult as possible for the bad guys to keep them from getting into your house. However, if someone wants to break in, they will figure out a way to do it. So I just keep trusting God to keep us safe.

I guess I am under cautious about break-ins. I think Bob is over cautious at times. I just think that if I were a thief, and wanting to look for TVs and other electronics, I'd just go several blocks away to Montgomery Hills, or across the lake. NO ONE WOULD WANT MY STUFF ! ! ! Now, if they want jewelry, I do have some nice jewelry in the house. It is insured, so I refuse to worry about it, and it is in a safe place. One year, someone stole 3 of our solar lights. That really upset me, because they were unusual, and I didn't buy them from here. I couldn't buy anymore to replace them. I've lived here about 20 years. I guess that's not too bad.

We stopped to see if anyone was hurt and thankfully, it seems everyone was okay physically. The woman who nearly hit us and did hit this family with a young child in the car went nuts with foul language, came over to us with threats, screaming, etc. The family that was hit were from the Ukraine and the mom is four months pregnant. They have been in our country for four years to get their daughter the treatment/surgeries she needed at Johns Hopkins and said they were to go back to the Ukraine very soon. My heart just broke for them. We gave them our info and said we will gratefully be witnesses for them if they need us.
Cat, that was a scary situation. I commend you and Reynold for giving that lady your information in case she needs you for a witness. When I was in my bad car accident in 2005, It was at a pretty busy intersection, at a pretty busy time. I only had 2 people stop and wait with me, and give me their information in case I needed it. Unfortunately, I was seriously injured. The girl that hit me was very underinsured. Luckily, I had insurance to cover all my medical bills and expenses. Unfortunately, people don't want to get involved!!!

As I read the post another of my father's many sayings came to mind. "Locks were put on doors and windows to keep the honest people honest." I always hated these sayings. It is an awful fact that Crime is rampant everywhere.

My heel feels a bit better today but I didn't work the past two days.

Oh.....if only I could afford one!!! Oh Wait!!! Is it too late to add something to our SS lists??? LOL
A new mattress is going to have to wait a year or so for us. However, I really believe the "Sleep Number" brand is the #1 contender!

Good Morning!

Cool here, the heater turned on for a bit. Very grey outside we had a cold front move in. Think I'll stay in and work on some projects today, maybe take a nap!

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Sherry, can he really get me a deal? Seriously!? I am interested. I think I want to get rid of my big bed and go down to a full. That is all I need. But I like the adjustable head and legs. Are their other decisions or just one type of mattress? QVC has a special today...??

Linda, do not know if this helps, but QVC has six installments for payment and they send the item out when you order. I do installments often.

aren't you a nurse?? nurses get 25% discount. they have 6 full size different mattresses, 6 months deferred interest. they are wonderulf. I thought my husband was nuts to go work there and to spend that much on a bed, but I'm absolutely in love with the bed. YOu can call Burt if you want 806-570-9204 that is his number not sleep number.

Gosh, I had plans to get some cleaning and laundry done this morning, and I haven't done anything!!! I have been on the phone catching up with my Daughter. I haven't had such a long talk with her in ages! The baby is getting a little independent, and not attached to the breast now that he has perfected walking and exploring.

I have to get busy, we have Tristyn's last football game to go to this afternoon. Fall is definitely in the air today. It is only 43 degrees at 11am.......brrrrrr!!!

I love my sleep number, too. It has been the only thing that has helped with my back. I know I've been complaining lately, but it is still much better than in the past. Bill even looked into getting one for the motorhome. I did tell him "NO" to that one!

I bought a present today too!

Busy day here. Went to the grocery store, got a pedicure (I need to do that more often being so rough on my feet from standing at work and running. I feel like a million bucks and it's really lifted my spirits!), craft store, target, bank, liquor store, job lot discount store and now am meeting my heart friends for lunch. I am tired from running around!

It turned into a sunny day here, thought it was supposed to rain. Never listen to the weatherman! It is supposed to get colder! Went to a picnic for awhile. It was fun, but I am still so tired. Also stopped at an orchard to get pumpkins, haybale and corn stalks. Was going to wander through the bakery, but the line went around the store. Nope - not worth it!

I was going to get a pedi on Friday but I didn't. Maybe I'll go Monday.

Really? 25% What is your favorite mattress type? Do you get the headboard and box around the mattress? Or do you purchase that from a furniture store?

We already had a bed frame I love so we just got the mattress. we did not get the adjustable base that makes your head and feet go up and down, kinda wish we did now. the sleep number mattress will fit into most bed frames you already have.

It's 7pm, and I just woke up from my nap! Ha!!! It was FREEZING at Tristyn's football game, with no sun and the wind made it miserable! These teams used every time out possible, and it went into timeout. His team won, FINALLY ! ! !
Poor little Tieryn is 13 months old now. he was sleeping when we got there, and grumpy when he woke up. He just wasn't happy self. We decided that he wanted someone to turn the weather off. This is his 1st cold day, and he hated the hat, long sleeves, and socks. Poor little peanut.
Anyway, we came home, I ate a bowl of soup, and it was 5pm. I took a nap anyway.
Hopefully, I'll get some laundry and cleaning done,...today is done.........

good morning!

Nikki - I hope you have a very safe trip and a ton of fun!

Grey and dreary here again today! I was lazy and didn't get everything done I wanted to yesterday! HOpefully today I'll be more motivated!
I really need to find some motivation to get my projects done!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Sherry

Woke up this morning with a sore throat and headache. Bob has been coughing and sneezing all week, I was hoping I wouldn't get it. It is warmer and the sun is shining, but I think we are going to take it easy most of the day!!!

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!!!

It is a cold day here in PA, too. It rained a little bit during the night, more rain coming later today. It's only in the 50s! But still humid so I'm perfectly content in a short sleeved shirt.

Went to church and all the kids in Sunday school this morning were also my Cherub Choir kids! That means we didn't have too many, but they are all great kids. Came home, had lunch and then Julie and I went to Kohl's. I found a very pretty red clog/mule and they are sooooo comfy. I have a pair of black leather, tan suede and now the red suede. For $26 a pair, I couldn't pass it up! Also used Kohl's cash! Julie got two shirts.

I am now home and thinking about a nap! I brought my fall/winter clothes down from the attic but I don't feel like going through them today. Maybe in awhile.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday afternoon!!!

Reynold and I just got back from the Wheel of Fortune tryouts. You filled out a form which was placed in a drawing..... they picked Reynold along with some others and I did not have my camera. He said he was praying my name would have been drawn. His group got a WOF Tshirt, a WOF should bag, WOF deck of cards, WOF hat and a tiny WOF pocket light.

They had another show so Reynold did go to get the camera however my name was not chosen... they will keep all the forms and possibly choose contestants from them.... it was a fun day.

Glad everyone is having a great day!

Crisp fall day here!

My dad is in town. He arrived today. Tomorrow we close on the house! I am making meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, and broccoli. Also made an apple cake!

Caterina - you and Reynold had a FUN day!!! I'm sorry you didn't get picked though! Bummer. I know he wanted you to win some money!!! LOL

Jen - your dinner sounds absolutely heavenly. Oh my! It is definitely chilly here. I just lit my pumpkin spice Yankee candles. Love that scent. And I made a cup of tea. I already had my pumpkin coffee this morning!

I have a Secret Santa question. We didn't ask on the questionnaire whether we liked wood mount or clear stamps. In the case of Stampin Up we can choose when we order. Could we just state which we prefer? I prefer clear mount (easier to store!!!)
