There is a chance that it is a fungal infection. She quit smoking over 25 years ago.

Reynold left early for a doctor's appointment at the VA and I just got back from a therapy session. Gee, these 'golden' years are fun!

Sherry - will definitely be keeping your mom in my prayers. My aunt has something on her lung. This is my 92 y/o aunt who also has an artificial leg! They just keep monitoring hers. I don't think they ever did surgery to remove it.

Hedgie gave me the motivation to clean my oven. I love to clean it and have it clean. I specifically bought a non self-cleaning oven so I could do it myself. It sparkles now and makes me want to do some baking.

Jennifer - you are a cleaner, aren't you? I hated cleaning my oven so I bought a self-cleaning. I do need to clean mine and it isn't hard. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow - since it is supposed to rain all day anyway. Oh wait - I can't - Julie wants ziti for dinner and it might not be done in time.

I would probably buy a self-cleaning oven next time. Then I'd have the option of cleaning it myself.

I'm thinking of going for a walk. I need to do some kind of exercise.

Sherry- Thinking about your mom.
Caterina- My father always said nobody every told me these golden years would be so tarnished.
Liz- It has been quiet. I bet you are happy the class is finished.
Jennifer- Have fun on your walk.
Joanne- I have a self-cleaning oven. I hate the smell. So I only clean it when I can have the house open. Doesn't happen much in the winter!

Ladies, I cancelled yoga class with a friend. DH called and said friends were in town and if I didn't have anything scheduled would I like to go? Well, without batting an eyelash I said yes and cancelled with my friend. Gosh, did I make a rash decision?

Ok Jennifer. You are now our resident oven cleaning overachiever!!

I turned the self cleaning cycle on and wiped it out afterwards. That was it.

I knew the door guy was coming and the door would be open for a while so I timed it for that so I could keep the house a bit warmer.

Marie, if these are friends froom out of town, I am sure your friend will understand? I would. She can still go to class, correct?

Julie, her friend and I were the only ones setting up for the pizza supper at church. I decided to eat and then leave. My back is killing me. Others are there to clean up - I'm not even feeling a little guilty about not staying.

I did clean a friends oven one time. She was pregnant and needed to clean it before she moved out of her apartment so I offered to do it for her. It was a win-win situation

She still teases me about how happy it made me. I like immediate gratification.

Jennifer - I could keep you busy for a year here! My house is a disaster right now. My bedroom is filled with two baskets of clean clothes, a HUGE basket of dirty, an ironing board set up with things on it (any horizontal surface) and various items on the floor to be organized. I just revealed a LOT about myself there! I think I will work on it today.

It is raining and we are expecting flooding. We have creeks/streams already high from a lot of rain over the weekend. It isn't going to take much to cause problems.

Jennifer - are you feeling better? The pain still coming back?

It's been ok the past few days. Still haven't heard from the dr. I'm going to drink another margarita and see if that triggers it again. That's what made it hurt the worst so maybe that would give the dr. some idea of what could be causing the pain. Would hate to have to give up drinking margaritas

Brandon went to a funeral in Denver today. One of the officers in his reserve unit unexpectedly passed away. He was only 40.

Good Morning!

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers for my mom. She had a bronchoscopy this morning to take a biopsy. We are supposed to hear about it Monday.

We are planning a little family reunion in Vegas in June, I'm just hoping she will feel good enough to go! All our family from Washington State are meeting us there for 4 days of fun!

Nikki - I know you are so excited about your vacation....where are you going? You deserve a great break!

I don't clean my oven, it is a self cleaning one, but my DH does it! I do most other house work, he does the oven and the ceiling fans!

Just got back from another therapy session. It is truly a rainy day out there.

Poor Conrad is sick with a high fever so we will be taking him to doctor soon. It is so sad to see him lay about with his blankie not wanting to do anything.

It is POURING here, too, Cat. I talked to my parents and they have water in their basement, but the sump pump is keeping up so far. I hope it continues because otherwise my mom will be dealing with that too. Dad is doing really well. They just wish he could go back to his old meds - they won't know until the see the doctor tomorrow. These meds don't seem to be regulated. He was fine on the other things.

I should be doing laundry.

Hi ladies.... Happy Thursday!
Any area of MN near a river or stream is expecting flooding. The governor has been to a few cities already. Fargo, ND and Grand Forks, MN have been filling sand bags in preparation. At my house we still have a few feet of snow! It is melting too quickly. I know people want warm weather however I want it to cool and gradually warm up!

Hi All,
Went to a terrific workshop on Aspergers syndrome today. Kind of basic, but I needed the refresher and I DID learn some new things/strategies.

Flooding: the town(s) on the news in NJ: Little Falls/Wayne - that's where I'm from. My dad's house isn't expected to flood - we're about a mile away or so from where it usually stops. Pretty scary stuff. Hope you all are safe and have dry basements.

My house looks like a disaster since I started working. I don't know what I am going to do when I start back full time with responsibility. Well, one thing is for sure - a cleaning lady will definitely be coming back to my house. I am exhausted! But I just did yesterday's (and maybe the previous nights ??) dishes, have a load of laundry in and wiped down all the counters. I have so much to do and Sat is an all day event so no free time for me this weekend! I have a parent conference on Sat (parent involvement in schools) and right from there is the Scout blue/gold dinner. Going to be crazy!

I'm going to check out that website Jen. At this point I don't want Marie given that specific diagnosis because she feels then it is an excuse! And she doesn't have to do anything to change it. It is so frustrating. We were talking today about Charlie Sheen and his not getting help. I told her to be careful what she said because she refused help. She said "I only refused the two options give me - therapy and/or meds. I'm holding out for the third option." Yeah. Right.

I have the dishwasher running, second load of laundry going and have made the ziti - just have to bake it. I have some leftover zucchini/onions so I'll have the rest of that and (hopefully) just a little ziti. Pasta is my downfall. I should have given it up for Lent. I could have lost weight and really cleaned up my blood sugar. I guess I still could. After tonight of course! I'm bad.

The rain is really coming down now. I just heard that we haven't seen the worst yet. Oh joy.

Jen - there was a blurb on the news last night about flooding in Lodi, NJ. A guy in a Mercedes was driving through what looked like a deep stream - the water was up to the wheel wells before he got far at all - and he kept going! Really!!??? My mom said she saw some guy interviewed about why he drove through the water and he said he wanted to see if his car could make it! Again, REALLY?!?!?!?! Hope he wasn't planning on keeping that car. Unfortunately, I think my husband might be one to "try it".

Joanne - a big part of the seminar was that Aspergers is NOT an excuse for not doing something. You might have to do it differently or change it around a bit, but you don't get to have bad behavior and not do assignments.

Like, instead of doing a report about the Civil War if the kid is into animals he can do a report about animals during the Civil War, etc. It's about helping these kids by using their strengths but still making them do the work!

Nikki - that sounds like a lovely vacation - I love meeting up with old friends. It always makes me happy.

Jen - Marie has her issues, but is also so very, very strong willed it is horrible. Even the psychiatrist we were dealing with said she had never seen a child this strong willed. I was so sorry to hear that. I wanted someone to tell me that they deal with this kind of thing all the time, maybe try this, but it didn't happen. I'm just lucky I guess.

Jen- thanks for the info. Have fun at the blue and gold. I planned many of them over the years. All three of my sons are Eagle Scouts. They needed alternate merit badges but did all the work.
Joanne- My sisters daughter sounds an awful lot like Marie. There is only one way... her way! Marie is a challenge but you are doing great!
Sherry- Any more news?
Nikki- the cards arrived. Have fun on vacation!

Joan - my FIL had the only way too. It is sad to see Marie following in his footsteps. He never learned. Couldn't apologize when he was wrong, etc., etc. I'm hoping she'll change. But who knows?

Good morning - TGIF!~

NJ is bracing for the flooding. It's really bad in some parts. So far we are good, just some road closures. Nothing like last March! Thank God.

Sherry - how is your mom?
Joanne - sorry about Marie. What does she think the third option is?
Nikki - hope you are feeling better

Happy Friday to everybody else.

M starts spring break this afternoon. I'll pick him up when I leave work today. We have a very busy weekend!
  • Today - A has play #1 practice until 5:30 - home by 6 then we are going to see Phantom of the Opera at our local HS
  • Tomorrow - A has play #2 practice from 9:30-11:30 then her Confirmation meeting with our Pastor. After that she and M will go over to the sqaud building to get the ambulances and rescue units cleaned up for the St Patty's parade on Sunday. Saturday night all 4 of us are going to see Children of Eden at M's old and A's new HS.
  • Sunday - Parade followed by CB & Cabbage at friends. M will ride in one of the rescue riggs and we'll also watch his old Marching Band march.
Add the usual homework, research paper, laundry, cleaning etc and I'm pooped just thinking about it!

Joan and Liz - thanks for asking about Mom. She is good right now. We won't have results from the biopsy until Monday! It will be a long weekend! Brendon has a soccer game tomorrow, I'm going to call her in a minute and see if her and dad want to go with us. I'm hoping to keep her mind busy! I know I'm trying to stay busy!

I'm a terrible Mom - I forgot next week is Spring Break! We aren't doing anything special, except for a couple of soccer games! I think I'm going to Lubbock next weekend to see my BFF!

I would really like to do some stampping this weekend, I hope I can get motivated!

Sherry

Our flooding possibilities seem like nothing after hearing about the 8.9 quake and tsunami in a Japan. I just cannot believe it. It must be my iminginatino but I don't ever remember eharing about so many tsunamis. It seems almost a regular occurrence now. All those people are in my prayers. I know someone in Japan (sort of in the middle of the country). Of course, I have friends in CA but they are all much farther inland, except relatives in the San Diego area. However, they are not right on the beach either. So frightening to see the images and hear the news reports.

Julie and I are heading out prom dress shopping. I'm hoping and praying we are successul in one trip. We can hit three good stores at our local mall.
