As most of you know, I 'adopted' sweet precious Sicily through Coles, was privileged to visit her and her family as well as attend her celebration of life service last March -- hard to believe it is coming up on one year already.

Her mom, Kerry, is such an awesome woman and still posts on Sicily's site (she intends to write a book on their journey). Well, she wrote an incredibly encouraging post today. You can read it on Sicily's CB site

CaringBridge / sicilyevelynzeka / Welcome

or go to Sicily's thread in the need a lift forum.

Truly am so very grateful to have this family in my life - just wish Oklahoma was not so far away.

Jennifer - it is so wonderful to hear how much your mom is enjoying her time with Preston. And you were worried she didn't want to be a grandma! Even if she had had her doubts, once that precious little baby enters her life - the love is there!!!! I'm so happy for all of you.

Cat - I just read Sicily's mom's entry. It continually amazes me at how much she is willing to share. I can't believe it is almost a year since she earned her wings.

Camie - I have two friends who had children on Aderol. One took her son off during the summer months to give his body a break from it. Actually, the other might have as well, now that I think a little more about it. BOTH of them have said they noticed a huge difference in attitude and attention span. They were unsure about putting them on the meds, too. I think that is a normal concern. But they noticed a huge difference.

I went for a nuclear span of my parathyroid this morning. I am still not really clear on what all this means, but the results will be sent to my doctor tomorrow and I'm sure she'll fill me in a little more.

It is a beautiful day here - I'm loving the sunshine and WARMTH. Friday we could get to 67 degrees!! Woo hoo!!! Party!!!!

It's 39 here and it feels like spring! LOL. I am cleaning out my car. It's really yucky and bad!
Jack has scouts, soccer and then home.
I've got about 10 loads of laundry to fold, plus packing for our trip! Yikes!

Well, I am seriously wondering if I should just bring the suitcases down here empty - it'll probably be easier to pack that way.

I have two more loads to go.

And then sheets on Friday morning after we wake up/before we leave so we have clean sheets when we get home!

Camie- Putting kids on meds no matter what the reason is very hard. From a former teachers perspective... if the meds help him to feel better about himself and allow him to be attentive they are worthwhile. I taught many kids who were on ADD meds. Have you taken him to see a psychologist? If it were me, I would want a second opinion. And yes, research the meds on the internet. Sorry to write so much!

Jennifer- Mom was in grandson withdrawal.
Liz- Glad to hear that you and A are getting better. This illness is a doozie. If you lived near me, I would take A and everyone else out sloshing in the water.

Hi Ladies,

Yeah on the new family member!!! Sherry when do we get a pic?

Camie: Don't feel bad about the meds I know of soooo many kids on them not sure
of all the types but it puts life into a managable place for most. We oddly have more friends with kids with various Attention issues than "typicals" I have 2 friends that
if they didn't have meds, scary to think where they would be........it's a long and ever changing process.......just take a deeeep breath and keeping talking to all of us

Well, I'm an Auntie again..........My new nephew is a mear 3lbs and 15 inches long(yes scary) good news is he came naturally and IS breathing on his own....my SIL was getting
into some VERY dangerous places so best he be delivered!!!! She's tired as to all the meds but doing well. Hopefully she'll be home friday......Thanks for prayers!!!!!

Awwww...what a little peanut. But they can do so much nowadays. He sounds strong! He was probably not growing well in there anyway. Sometimes it's much better to be out here! Congratulations!

Reynold took Danny to the airport this evening. He will be stopping to see some friends in Czech Republic before going on to Poland to be with Magda and the boys. They will all be coming back in a couple of weeks.

Good morning! It is a glorious 54 degrees at 10:30!!!! Sun is shining - it is awesome outside!!!!

I went for a lung function test this morning. This is all in preparation for the possible lapband surgery. The technician was really nice and she said I have strong lungs.

Good Morning!

We had a record high of like 80 yesterday! it was great!

about 75 today, I can do that too!

I will post a pic of our new baby "Abby" this weekend! She is just so sweet! I have never had a dog with this great of a personality!

Burt had just gotten out of the shower this morning and opened the door to let the steam out, when he looked down she had snuck in and was stealing his underwear

I'm glad everyone is on the mend! Being sick is just the pits!

Jennifer - so glad your mom is home! I'm sure she missed Preston! When Sara and Xander come home, I don't share Xander with anyone!

Hi all! Just a quick hello. Trying to play catch up in the 2 hours I have before I leave for school/choir/ etc

Had firewall issues this morning so could NOT access work! Ken finally figured it out for me. Love that man.

Then I went to my boss's mom's funeral. She was 93. and the funeral was local - only 3 or 4 blocks from my house!

But still, have a lot to catch up on. Just wanted to say hi.

We had beautiful weekend and now its snowing and cold and windy again. Playing tricks of letting us see a glimpse of spring is not nice mother nature

We had lighting while it was snowing last night. . . wierd some of my town was without power for about 5 hours.

Jen - I wasn't sure the strong lungs was a complement or not! I don't think I'm that loud! LOL

Camie - we love you, too! Glad you got info you were looking for!

I'm watching the news and they are showing people buying Philly tickets. I can't believe how many tickets one person is buying. I mean they just fan out the tickets in their hands and it is a lot!!! Where do they get the money?

Camie - we've had a few thunder snow storms here this winter. Very unusual. I'm sure we aren't done with bad weather, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the sunshine and warmth. I will probably open windows tomorrow as it can be close to 70. We won't see 80 like Sherry for awhile!!!

I called my parents a bit ago but didn't get to chat because the home health aide was there gathering info. I'll call them later to see how things are going and what Dad may still need to do for therapy.

How do you know if you broke a toe? Stubbed my little toe this morning. How can something so little hurt so much? Trying to figure out if I should wear sneakers to work. I will be working 4 hours so that shouldn't be too bad (not sure if I convinced myself)

Marie - you need to talk to Nikki. She did the same thing two weeks ago. Tape the toe to the one next to it. That was the advice given to her.

Cleaning out the car. Handed each boy a bag of garbage and keep. They did a good job, found lots of missing DS games and I found lots of missing socks!!!

It is GORGEOUS out. Not warm - only 49 but it sure feels like warmer after all of our cold weather!!

It was so gorgeous out this afternoon, that I was driving and listening to the radio. I got on the wrong road to head to my doctor's office. I'm driving along and just not paying attention . . . I called the office and got easy directions to get there but was half an hour late. Good thing they didn't need to take my blood pressure!!!! Then, I got a call from Julie that she needed to be picked up from school. I was a distance away, but she waited. She was supposed to present her senior project but the teacher couldn't stay today. IF she had presented, the timing would have been fine!

No school here today and probably tomorrow. Teachers are protesting Gov. Walker's changes in union negotiations. Thousands down at the capitol today. All peaceful, just a few minor arrests. The Democratic Senators have left the state to dodge the Republican's ability to proceed.

Very interesting.

We're in teacher negotiations here too.

And the high school just banned another book (rolling eyes).

This time it is Water For Elephants.

Now, there is alcohol and sex and violence in it I hear....BUT it was an optional intercession (during break) class and a permission slip went home. Same guy is putting up a fuss as the one who got Nickel and Dimed banned. Whose kid is homeschooled 90% of the time and who signed the permission slip and only put up a fuss now. He's been on Fox news. He's definitely got another agenda. I haven't read the book but I can remember reading a lot of questionable books in high school and what the heck is the kid going to do come college and the real world? He doesn't have to agree with it - write a paper about why it's wrong. Learn something. So maddening to me. Because hey, if you have a problem with violence and sex we need to ban health, the Bible, science and US history.

I feel bad for the kids, though, Hedgie. They now have to suffer for all this. It will add days to the end of their school year, right?
