Default ***Misfit Monday (10-1-14)***

Happy October!!!!!!!

I remembered that today was the 1st as we left the house and just never got around to posting the new thread. Technically, it's still the 1st for another few minutes

We had a busy, fun day. We went out to breakfast, did some shopping and then spent the afternoon at the mall. I had a coupon for 2 free lotions from Bath and Body Works so we went there first and then walked around and did some looking. A bunch of the stores already have their Christmas stuff out. Waaaay too early if you ask me!!

Hope everyone has a great month! We have a lot of fun stuff planned - pumpkin patches, Albuquerque trip, Preston's birthday and Halloween stuff!

jennifer- your life is so busy and exciting.

Nichole- It is hard being away form your family. It is great that you get to see them. Oh how I remember the parents that should have come to conferences and chose not to come. it seemed they were the ones I really needed to see. I enjoyed see the ones that did show up!

Happy Thursday to all!

Today is my Aunt's wake and funeral. I am off to work, then to the wake and funeral, then to a business meeting.

Thinking of you today, Joan!

Going to the Farmer's Market this morning. Hoping they have their pumpkins and delicata squash (my fave!). Then off to my dreaded Zumba Toning class and soaking in the hot tub/steam room. It's only 39* right now!!

Thinking of you, Joan.

Jennifer - October is a nice month. Definitely gets one in the autumn spirit. I hope to decorate my front door area (it isn't a porch, more like a stoop!) this weekend. I bought a fake carvable white pumpkin at ACMoore. I'm going to stencil an "R" on it and then get two smallish orange pumpkins. I hope I can get it to turn out as it looks in my mind!

Sounds nice Joanne! Hope you post pictures.

They didn't have the squash I wanted, but they had lots of super cool gourds and little pumpkins. There was still a great selection of veggies - got 2 bags this week and they are packed FULL!! Made it to the gym and now we're ready for lunch!!

Evening ladies! Pretty uneventful day but that's OK with me. Boredom isn't really that bad compared to what some are going through. Guess I'm lucky.

Joan, sending you much loving support. <3

Nichole, thinking of you and hoping you are doing well.

Leaving my best to everyone.

Default a new picture of me.

I went to the home coming game, for the school where I work, last Friday. The marketing director insisted on taking my picture.

I hope the parents figure out how to stop this. They cannot ignore it and that kid will have no friends at this rate.

jennifer- I pray the parents get a clue. This little one needs guidance or is life will be difficult! I am so sorry for the neighborhood kids especially Preston.

Why I am awake at 4 AM? I don't have to go to work until 7:45 AM. This is crazy. I need some zzzzzzz's.

Actually, I am not doing my regular job. I am taking part in a staff development day. I have chosen to spend part of the day at Feed My Starving Children. So I will be on a school bus with 50 teachers and staff members. The company I work for needed to have some one attend. I reluctantly volunteered after no one else did. At first it was strictly volunteer, then when the VP of the company heard, he agreed to pay the person. My boss wanted to attend a food fair. So I guess I am that one. My sister told me that is why I get taken advantage of all the time. My values and beliefs come to the forefront.

Have a great Friday!

Thanks Joanne and Joan. I fully believe the way his mom is parenting him is a part of the problem. He has no consequences to his behavior. Something needs to change. She took him to a Tae Kwon Do class last night. My first thought was horror - now he'll learn how to REALLY hit! I'm sure she's thinking this might give him a controlled environment, but I'm thinking maybe Preston should be the one taking the class to DEFEND himself!!!!! LOL! Sadly, I'm only partly kidding. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't had any contact with either one of them and now that I know his behavior hasn't changed, I guess we'll keep our distance.

I'm watching the other neighbor's 2 kids tonight (3 and 9 months) while they go to a wedding. I love that she trusts me and my son.

Not sure what we're doing today - it's a chilly, cloudy day. Happy Friday!

It is a very upsetting situation, Jennifer. My cousin was a biter and his parents did everything to stop him. Finally, he 'grew pass' that stage. This little boy clearly needs some guidance and hopefully his parents get some help for their son.

Actually Jennifer, this might be a really good thing for that kid. TKD teaches Discipline, Respect and when hitting/kicking is appropriate--ONLY in class or to defend oneself.

It is a blustery day in MN. I walked to and from work today. One of the staff stopped and wanted me to take a ride. I politely refused. I need to move. Sitting all day is hard for me.

Happy Friday to all!

I totally agree - I was just being snarky. About him learning how to hit "correctly" was just my first thought when I heard he was taking classes. I fully believe ANYTHING is good for this kid to help his behavior.

Good morning ladies! No plans for today. Off work but only because I asked for it. My SU demo is hosting an event today that I was going to go to but decided not to when I found out it was to make holiday cards and not just everyday cards. I like for all of my Christmas cards to be alike and just dont mail cards for the other fall/winter holidays.

Lynn- I am going to use all the extra Christmas cards from past years. I need to count them. Then I will make more if needed!

I have made all my Halloween cards. I guess next up is Thanksgiving. I don't have a clue as to what I want!

Joan, am so amazed how you make so many cards for all occasions. It is all I can do sometimes to make cards for my husband, children and grandchildren.

I've used an assortment of cards for Christmas before so when someone complimented me on a card I have no idea which one they are referring to! That's why this year I decided to make all my cards the same! Like I said - I really don't mail out Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. I LOVE to make cards but am probably the worst at sending them!
The Stamp a Stack scheduled for today was to be all Holiday cards (which would have been fun but...).

Lynn, you have my admiration for making Christmas cards. I mail out about 100+ (lots of Sicilian relatives + friends) so I 'cheat' with bought box cards I do make Christmas cards for my husband, children, grandchildren and sometimes for a few others.

Happy Saturday. It seems the rain has cleared out and we have spots of sun here and there. It has turned chillier (high 60s) so it feels AND looks like autumn. We don't have a lot of color yet, but it has begun. Some of our trees have lost leaves already.

I have to get back on track with cards. The last few years I've mailed out photos of the girls with a Christmas letter (to those I don't see often). I really need to get moving on card making again. I also realized I have a lot of half finished cards in several places. So organizing is also something I need to do.

I'm going to shower (it's already noon) and work on laundry today. Wish me luck!

Nichole- your life is always so busy. have fun making the cards.

Joanne- I sleep in on the weekends. I get up about 7. Then weather permitting I walk for at least one hour. After that I get going on what I need to do.

I still am not sleeping well. I would like to get more than 5-6 hours a night. I am tired. I fall to sleep almost immediately. However, I wake up. I just can't seem to shut my mind off.

have a beautiful Sunday!

Joan, sorry you are not sleeping well. Try some extra strength melatonin, it may take time to see what amounts work best for you. The melatonin made a big difference for me to get a good night's sleep.

Hello Misfits. It took me awhile to catch up with everyone. My life is going at warp speed and I'll be glad when it stops. I'm at home right now but I could be anywhere from here on out. The I-pad keeps me in touch with on-line friends.

It seems like we are losing stuff constantly. The latest is the safety deposit key. I want to pull my hair out. The routine of Saturday night cards didn't happen. I was in bed early listening to the Country Classic radio show. So exhausted. I'm getting the paint on Tuesday and I'm starting to paint the shutters on Wednesday. Waiting for the carpenters. Um I'm not good about waiting.

Caterina - what is the strength or dose of melatonin that you take? I did try that (more than once) but it never did anything for me. I can't remember how high my dosage was though. I also do remember asking my sleep doctor about taking that, but he didn't think that would help me. I don't know why?

Joan - Bill gets about six hours of sleep each night. I wish I could function on that little. I get grumpy. No nice for anyone!

Nikki - good for you on the shopping! You got a good start for Christmas. I have actually picked up a few things here and there. I just need to get it all in one place AND make a list of what I bought. I have a small list going for things for Bill. I never know what to get him and I have decided to make a list of small things when he mentions them.

Bill and I went and bought two pieces of luggage today. We have a HUGE bag and two "stewardess bags" that we bought years ago. On this last trip we realized if we had something just a little larger than the stew bags we could have fit everything and not taken that extra bag! We also went to eat at Carabbas. Haven't eaten there in years - I probably shouldn't eat there again either! LOTS of pasta (which I love) and lots of alfredo sauce. I didn't get alfredo sauce this time, but did have pasta. Bill got a stuffed chicken that was yummy. Half of it came home - so that will be my lunch tomorrow.

Got lots of laundry washed but not folded or put away. In the words of Scarlett O'Hara - "tomorrow is another day".

Joanne, I get the triple strength, 10 mg from Swanson and take two every night. It may take time to receive the benefit and you may need more or less. I started off with taking one and then increased it to two which enables me to sleep well.

Reynold and I went to see Left Behind with Nicholas Cage and it was an action filled movie. A bit different from the one done with Kirk Cameron which I also liked.

Good morning dear misfits!

Joan, you look good in that picture!

Today my sweet precious granddaughter celebrates her 24th birthday. How is that even possible?

Have a chuckle...

Kidnapped

Most Friday nights at the naval station in Bermuda, we would assemble at the officer's club after work. One Friday, Rick, a newly married ensign, insisted he had to leave at 6 p.m. We all tried to talk him into staying, but he'd promised his bride he'd be home by six. I offered to call home for Rick.

When his wife answered the phone, I said, "Rick has been kidnapped. Put five dollars in small, unmarked bills in a plain brown paper bag and throw it in the door of the officer's club." Then I hung up.

A short time later, a waiter brought a grocery bag to our table. In it were Rick's baseball glove, a tennis racket, and a teddy bear. Attached to the bear was a note: "Rick can play kidnapped until 7 p.m. Then he must come home."

Hello friends! I made chili for dinner tonight. It was pretty good. It's from a Fix It n Forget It slowcooker cookbook. It should be even better after it sits. Probably Thursday's dinner.
