Question of the Week: What is your least favorite trend?
So last week I asked what your favorite trend was.
Now, I want to know what your LEAST favorite trend is.
I have to say that mine are owls. I know that people love them, but I remember when they where big in the seventies and I had a friend whose mother collected owls. They were everywhere. In the patio, the kitchen, the backyard, and the bathrooms. Nothing like a dozen pairs of owl eyes to make sure you don't dally. So, it's no surprise, that when the owl trend came and went, I was happy to see the "went" part of it.
Grunge and distressing! I just don't get it. I've tried some techniques but it always looks like my dog did her business on my project then chewed it up. Many peeps make it so beautiful though.
I also can't seem to get myself to love copics. I have a mix of Copics, Spectrum Noir, Prismas, Shinhan and another brand my colleague brought me from China (a very eclectic "set", I know) and the copics are my least favorite, followed by SN for a close second. But apparently it's just me.
LOL about the owls Alma. They refuse to go away though. And Linda, I am LOVING the nautical trend.
Ok, now for the dislikes. The coloring in of a nose when there isn't one drawn on the image. This needs to stop! Some otherwise really cute stampy characters have been given a mean, pinched looked with this trend.
I don't hate it, but the whole chalkboard look does nothing for me.
I know a lot of people won't agree with me but ubiquitous sewing on a card. I've just about stopped doing it on mine unless it just really, really needs it design wise. And yet, it does fit sometimes but not on every card you make. My husband can't hardly get me to sew a button back on his shirt so if he caught me at my sewing machine with a piece of paper....well, let's just say I would never hear the end of it. Or worse yet, bring me some mending while I'm sitting there trapped with no excuse as to why I couldn't do it.
I better quit now before you guys think I hate everything!!
#1 Dislike is: The 'Stache! I don't like it! I don't get it either....
#2 Dislike: Duct Tape.... I personally just think that it's dumb.
I'm really liking the Nautical Trend (I live at the beach!), the Retro Trend, and the Paint Splatter Trend. I still like chevrons and I love Copics, however I'm starting to do more Prisma and Gamsol again.... I like the watercolor-y look it gives.
I can't say I don't like the steampunk and grunge trend, some people do it well, just not me.

You can't spell Earth without "ART" well you can, but then it's just "EH. My (very small) Gallery
1) I'm another who doesn't understand the mustache's (sorry Alma). Must be my ago group, or where I live, since my daughter has a couple of mustache shirts and she always comes home upset from school when she wears them since the her teachers make fun of her (fortunately she understand they're just hassling her).
2) Washi tape - what's the big deal with it? I've looked at some tape in Michael's just haven't bought any since they all look weird.
Definitely LOVE, LOVE the nautical themes, especially TCP's nautical ones and anything with Sprinkle or Poochie.
I am wondering, why you are here? - Yoda

Not fond of Washi tape either. Most of it looks ugly and cheap to me-kind of goes with the grunge look that I also don't care for. It'll be over and done with soon enough. It may be quicker and easier to use than ribbon but ribbon looks far more elegant.
I'm definitely not into chevrons and they seem to be everywhere. I guess I'm in the minority. Ditto on washi tape. I can see how it would be useful if you're mailing a card to reduce bulk, but I'd rather use ribbon.
I am also not into the Steampunk look, although I love a lot of the Tim Holtz products! Not sure how I feel about the Mixed Media craze. Some I like, much of it I don't care for! I think it's the dark, overcrowded look that I don't care for. If it's done with lighter, brighter colors, and not overloaded, I tend to like it more.
