Question Question of the Week: Does being sick affect your stamping style?

Last week I came back from a trip to Boston. I got to meet with Julie Masse, Kimberly Gajewski of the Cat Pack and FINALLY got to meet Cyndi Bundy! (LOVE THE GLASSES)

The weather was good, but, caught a nasty cold. I've had to meet a couple of stamping deadlines, so I had to stamp! And I realized that my stamping took on a whole new look.

This is the card that I made for the TCP Tuesday challenge. For me, it looks completely different from my usual style.

Does being sick affect your stamping style?

For being sick Alma, this card is still gorgeous! I sure would not have been able to tell the difference if you hadn't said something.

Pretty! Love how you used the heart swirl as a vine!

I am miserable with allergies right now. While I had a productive weekend, I'm wiped out now and don't feel like stamping at all. I'd actually like a head transplant more than I want to stamp.

Feel better soon! Maybe play with the get well set with Nurse Sprinkle, the chicken in the bowl, and those wacky penguins in bed.

I am just getting back on my feet after a very nasty!! case of sciatica. I can't say being sick affected my stamping style but it definitely sucked all my mojo away!!!!

Even being sick, you have created a beautiful card. I had neck surgery in December and wasn't able to craft for about 2 months. When I started back, my style changed a bit. Once I got back into my groove though, I was right back on track. I have a few health issues that cause me to feel punk alot and when I am not feeling so spry, my cards aren't as good as I think they could be.

Being sick always makes me want to do nothing, stamping included! Thankfully that doesn't happen too often! So sorry for those of you suffering allergies or sicknesses right now, I imagine it takes all creativity out of you!

LOVE your card Alma!! It's fabulous!

It's gorgeous, Alma! I love the DPs you used. Usually, if I'm sick, I don't want to do anything. However, I find with the "down time" (if I can get it, that is), that it will sort of spark my creative process, and after the break from stamping, I'll usually come back with a lot of creative juice! When I was in college for theater, if we were sick, our professors would make us get up and perform whichever parts we were working on at the time. Having your defenses down due to illness can really open you up to being more genuine in acting work. Maybe I should try stamping next time I'm sick, and see what comes of it!

Well I'm not going to wish any sickness on you so you can give it a try Noelle! LOL! It's Spring and I hope everyone is feeling fine - although it's allergy season and I know some people really struggle with that! Time for some honey!

Alma, that card is beautiful. I don't know if my style is different when I'm sick. I guess it depends on what kind of sick it is. Like the others, if I'm very sick I don't want to do anything but sleep and hang out on the couch.

Fine by me if I don't get sick, Julie! We seemed to get more than our fair share this winter.... blech :P Yes, particularly raw and local honey can help tremendously with allergies and illnesses of the throat.

I know one thing, when my migraines really act up to the point of cry or do something to take my mind off of them, my stamping gets more clean and simple.

I didn't stamp all week last week because of severe allergies. When I'm sick I have no desire to stamp. I guess it sucks the mojo out of me.

I love your card! When I have migraines or feel sick, I usually don't even go into my stamping room. I hate when that happens! Then it takes me a bit to get my mojo back too. Sometimes I have thought of an idea and I can't even think of it after being under the weather.

This is such a fun question and javagirl nailed it for me. Yesterday the mold was so high I couldn't even lift my head up. Allergies are usually the only thing that keep me from stamping.

I started laughing when I read this on the main page--- When I don't feel good, I have a hard time doing ANYTHING that takes my concentration! USUALLY, I get SUPER AWFUL HEADACHES that put me down for DAYS! I just lay in bed! There HAVE BEEN TIMES, when I have to make a card----I usually do CAS! A style I don't see myself as being good at! I have found I am beginning to like CAS now! (I like other's work, just not my own with CAS!)

My style doesn't change, I just lose my mojo like many others. My style changes over time though.

What a beautiful and elegant card Alma! If I try and make a card when I am sick, things just seem to go wrong like: smudging the card with an inky finger, smear the wet glitter glue, lose the button I just got out of the drawer, lose my craft knife on my desk.....get the picture?! I left it to the last minute to make a Wedding Anniversary card for my DH and tried to make one with a migraine....uggh....it ended up in the bin and I had to buy a card (oh, the horror!)!!

I generally don't stamp when I'm sick. Like others have said, my mojo hides out til I'm better. I prefer to just lay in bed or the sofa hoping it will go away soon! I do have some back issues though and it when it acts up physical activities stop. But I can sit on the sofa and color images.

Wow, I hate to hear that so many of of you haven't felt good lately. Allergies have been a huge issue here as the pollen count has been record high.

I don't know that being sick affect my stamping style, but it affects my level of energy and because of it, I rarely stamp when I get sick. I just want to lay down somewhere! I'm sure if I were to stamp, my style would probably not be as involved as it usually is.
