Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards
Monthly Card Swap + FaithBook Scrapbook Club

Hello Friends and Welcome to our little monthly card swap! We have all had a lot of fun together in past swaps and started to form some great friendships (and some new ones too). And what better way to continue cultivating those friendships and shared brilliance, than to have an everlasting swap. No worries, the commitment isn’t that long. LOL. Actually, the commitment is for however long you choose, but I’ll get into the rules below. In the meantime I just want to say thanks for joining me once again. I have been so blessed in getting to meet and share creations with each and every one of you…now let the swapping begin!! [/CENTER]

~This Month's Swap hosted by ticketbelle~
January brings a new year, a new beginning and the idea that anything is possible. It is also a cause to celebrate self and the wonderful person YOU are. So… this month’s swap is to create a card celebrating the month that the world was graced with your sweet selves. Each month has a flower, a jewel, a color, a zodiac symbol that is unique to it. Use any icon from your birth month to create a card that is pure you. Two layers of cardstock and one embellishment is all that is required but feel free to add more if you wish. This card/month is all about YOU ~ the sky is the limit!
January cards should be in Michelle's hands by January 31 ~ please PM Michelle or Kadie for the address if needed.

~Next Month's Swap hosted by 3boysathome~
This month's theme is FLOWERY cards! Many of you guys are having a lot of snow right now, so I can imagine that some ladies are praying for spring to come! So I thought it might be nice to think of SPRING and FLOWERS everywhere. But I would also like everybody to incorporate at least one button on your card too! I just love flowers and buttons! And that's all! February cards should be in Tanja's hands by Feb 28 ~ please PM Tanja or Kadie for the address if needed. AND PLEASE PM Kadie TODAY (or asap) if you are planning to pass for Feb (but really, who could pass up such a fun theme ) HUGS

--------------------------------------------------------------------
FaithBook Scrapbook Club
The SOTC is going beyond the monthly card making swaps and in addition, we will all rotate hosting a 1-2 page scrapbook layout with no restrictions ~ feel free to keep your pages CAS or over the top! It's entirely up to you. Your hostess of the month will provide the faithbookers a monthly scripture to work with or around, or a chosen theme/color/scheme. Your pages should be uploaded to the SCS gallery on the 15th (unless otherwise noted--flexible!!) You aren't required to send anything out to the other scrappers and you can chose from whatever vendors you like the best .
Thank you ladies for joinin' in on this venture! Join us whenever you can or want to!

SOTCFB2
For the month of February, we often think of Valentines Day, a day to celebrate love. Here is how it started:

The story of Valentine's Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian martyr. The emperor was Claudius II. The Christian was Valentinus. Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship
twelve gods, and he had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ, and not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs.
He was arrested and imprisoned. During the last weeks of Valentinus's life, a remarkable thing happened. Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his daughter, Julia, might be brought to Valentinus for lessons. She had been blind since birth. Julia was a pretty young girl with a quick mind. Valentinus read stories of Rome's history to her. He taught her arithmetic and told her about God. She saw the world through his eyes, trusted in his wisdom, and found comfort in his quiet strength.

"Valentinus, does God really hear our prayers?" Julia said one day. "Yes, my child, He hears each one," he replied.
"Do you know what I pray for every morning and every night? I pray that I might see. I want so much to see everything you've told me about!" "God does what is best for us if we will only believe in Him," Valentinus said.
"Oh, Valentinus, I do believe," Julia said intensely. "I do." She knelt and grasped his hand. They sat quietly together, each praying. Suddenly there was a brilliant light in the prison cell. Radiant, Julia screamed, "Valentinus, I can see! I can see!" "Praise be to God!" Valentinus exclaimed.

On the eve of his death, Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia, urging her to stay close to God, and he signed it "From Your Valentine." His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a gate that was later named
Porta Valentini in his memory. He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said that Julia herself planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave. Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship. On each February 14, St. Valentine's Day, messages of affection, love, and devotion are exchanged around the world.

My favorite Bible verses are from Galatians where Paul urges Christians to serve one another in love, that the entire law is summed up in a single command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He then urges us to live by the Spirit so wonderfully set forth in Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

With this is mind create a FaithBook page illustrating a fruit of the spirit. Include pictures which illustrate the fruit of the spirit any or all. And because we are honoring St, Valentine and the story of Julia lets include a tree and the color pink as a symbol of the pink-blossomed almond tree. Short notice but lets have the pages uploaded by Feb. 15th if at all possible. Your loving sistah, Judy

I don't know WHY.. NO idea why I just don't even want to try using the nesties! The ones I bought, I kept a set and then traded the other set for something else I wanted. It just looks for some reason like something I"m "just not gonna get" how to do.....

I did get the tan embossing folders though so I am going to try out the dragonfly thingy I got Lorie to order for me....
Another great reason to come to Palooza - we can show you how to Nestie!

Hey girls...I'm here...

Catherine here's my reply to your post on T3....

Nope no perking.....the bottles are empty and you cut off the bottoms. Put the mix ingredients in and tape the bottom back on. I think they just put them in h2o bottles because the bottles are see through and it makes them very colorful. Kind of like the jar mixes...have ou heard of those....but in bottles...more kid oriented treats...

Hey Karen -

Here's my reponse to your post on T3....

No...the water bottle is empty....I suppose you could use washed used bottles but I think I would just dump the water into a glass and drink it...let the bottle dry and then you cut the bottom off and fill it with the treat bags...tape the bottom back on and decorate. Does that make sense...kind of hard to describe...

Yes that's it. However, I just read the mixes are only good for 5-7 days so you would want to use up pretty quick.

Oh, how fun!

Yes, doggies can eat carob. I bought him some none-too-cheap treats for his first Xmas, and that's what they used.

Two of my coworkers have new pups, so this would be a fun treat to do for them! And since they are easy, I wonder if I could find enough time to do them for the local shelter.... Thanks for sharing, Debbie! I'm totally inspired!!!!

Thanks for the BIG prompter Catherine! I found you gals. I hope to be on more after this month is over and chat up like I used to, but it will probably be mostly in the evenings since I need to crack down on myself and not do SCS time during work time. SO I'll still miss most of the conversations. Just know I do constantly think about you ladies and I definitely read more than I post especially lately.

I'm here - thanks for setting us up Kadie and to Catherine for the banner!

I love my cuttlebug and while I don't use it as much as I should (since I don't have a lot of dies) I'm getting there. I have a slew of the embossing folders now and I think 7 sets of Nesties. I'm getting there ~ one of month with the Cut @ Home coupon. I like the really clean lines you get and the perfect alignment. I have always been a wavey girl but no more!

We have the Cricut too - my sister got it at Good Will (if you remember the story) and she, myself and our other friend share it. It works out well all the way around - especially for a $20 investment each.

gotta go work for a minute.

Hi girls!

I made the trip over. I want a Cricut Expressions soooooo bad! This infomercials are killers!! I do love my swivel sweeper, though, even though I was in an Ambien induced sleepwalk when I ordered it!

ROFL! "The drugs made Lorie do it!" LOL!
Yep, I've seen those Cricut infomercials - tempting, but too much $$$ for me...at least for now.

Teehee!

I seriously need to crack down, too. It's so hard to "leave" my sisters though. Is there a 12-step program for not SCS-ing on the job??? Sign me up! LOL!
