Weekly Christmas Card Challenge 2012 - Closed and Chatting
Weekly Christmas Card Challenge 2012 – Closed and Chatting
This past Christmas I didn’t send out Christmas cards ... again!! So frustrating!! So I decided to start this thread where we can have some fun while making Christmas cards throughout the year.
The Details:
• Each Friday a challenge will be chosen by the individual who has signed up for a date (see your date on the list below).
• The person will send me a private message to tell me what challenge they are submitting and I will indicate the challenge beside the date/name (see below for the first challenge as an example). You can still talk about your challenge in a post (I will try to indicate the post # beside your date here) but by keeping the list here on Post #1 we can refer back to reduce challenge replication.
• Your challenge can be whatever you’d like – a colour challenge, a sketch, a technique, or whatever else you would like - just make sure you pm me whenever you have a great idea for your challenge (it can be weeks ahead of your challenge or the day before).
• Create your Christmas card (you can make 1 or multiple cards for each challenge) by following the challenge given.
• Please upload your card to your gallery here on SCS using the keyword WCCC + your date (e.g., my keyword would be WCCCJAN20 because I added JAN20 to the end of WCCC). This way all our challenge cards will be in one place to admire!

We will keep the challenge going until we hit June 22 or until we all run out of interest!
so glad everyone is as excited about this as I am. Patti, if you look at Post #1 you will see that I have added your challenge idea!!
I also hope it is okay that I started mid-January. I thought it would be nice to give us all a few weeks to get back into the swing of things from the holiday season. By then we'll all be bored again ... right??!! LOL!!
Wiggy you are the BOMB!!!! I love this! I'm sending you a PM for my challenge. Not sure what my card will look like when I get there but I do have some Christmas DP I need to use. he he he
OMGosh I was thinking of the same colors Pattie was! I have others too so I'll just pattern my thoughts another way here. hhhmmmmmm

WooHoo! Great thread Donelda. Thank you for getting all of us started on gaining a headstart for Christmas 2012! Can't wait to get started. Have my thinking cap on for a February Christmas card. hmmmm thinking thinking thinking
I agree - Donelda you were meant to be a hostess. Great organization. Trying to think up my challenge now. This is going to be so much fun and I might actually get all my Christmas cards done.
I just love this group of creative people. You girls are all the best.
Patti - Thanks for the non traditional color challenge. I love "these" christmas colors.
Lena- You choose purple and snowman ?!?!?! Hmmmm, that´s also one of my favorite color and also non traditional. I have a lot of christmas charms that i don´t use on cards this year. Is that a sign that i have to much stuff ? And i remember there were also a snowman. So your challenge sounds also great for me.
Donelda- I´ve already said that i LOVE our challenge swaps ??!!!
I am so glad that everyone is so excited!! Check out Post #1 if you haven't looked for a while everyone! There are lots of great challenges getting added in there!!!
And, what that means is for you "keeners" out there ... you can actually work ahead (Heather ... see, it will totally work for you .. having a baby doesn't have to get in the way LOL!!). I think this can be a flexible as we want/need it to be!!!

Ha, me too Imke - when I was cleaning up all my Christmas stuff I kept putting away these cute embellishments thinking "why didn't I use this?" Now I can!!!! Yeah!!!
I would like to introduce Leslie to the group. She is from Nova Scotia. Seeing as everyone from Nova Scotia is nice (ahem, I am from Nova Scotia for those of you who do not know) I thought she would be a great addition to our Weekly Christmas Card Challenge!! Welcome Leslie - this is a great group of ladies to chat with!!
Me too Jessica .... it is making me actually want to make Christmas cards .. and now! I might just start this weekend since we are totally ready for Christmas!
Thanks Donelda. Will put my thinking cap on and see what I come up with and let you know. The ladies are right, you are so organized and this will be so much fun and maybe I can send all my friends in this group a Christmas Card next year.
Tracie, thanks so much for the new cattys etc. Loved the dp samples and getting started on your flourishes sometime today because I am just about finished with everything but baking pies which I won't do until tomorrow evening or Sat. morning.

Hey Linda - you ended up with a great challenge idea! I love that colour combo
As you will see when you check out Post #1 I have added your challenge to the list ... love the addition of the flourish.
Leslie is having some trouble posting on this thread. I've asked the swap moderators for some help to see if there is something I need to do or something she needs to do ... hopefully we can get it sorted out soon so she can drop in and meet all you guys!
That sounds like the same problems that Sandy´s have to jump on our Image Swap. Please let me know if you find a solution.

Jessica- Love your challenge with NO extra postage. That was my problem this year. LOL But i LOVE to use buttons and Ribbon and then the cards become slightly thicker than normal.
Leslie- WELCOME !! I think your challenge would be a REAL challenge for me. Never thought about a nautical christmas card. Well, let´s see what we all create.....THANKS !
Linda- Great color choice. This will be a super bright card !!
Tracie- I will use the great EB Folder that i received in my reveal package from you. I had no chance to use it for this year´s cards. A great opportunity.
Pat- Who does no love sparkle ?!?
Vickie- Great choice. I love to make square cards and i LOVE pink.
Thanks Ladies for all the great challenges. Ok, i have to send Donelda a pm with my challenge......
Okay, I have Imke's challenge up on Post #1 now too. Wow you guys, there are some excellent ideas on here!!
I have gotten some advice from the swap moderators and Leslie will hopefully be able to get on. (I'll let you know if we need more help and yes, I think it is the same issue!) She picked the nautical theme because she is from the east coast ... yes it will be a great challenge ... but I think I already have a great idea for it!!
Had a great 1st day off. Lazed around all morning, did the last bit of grocery shopping, delivered the last of our presents, and now I am again sitting in my favourite chaire, wrapped in my favourite blanket, with all the Christmas lights on enjoying the moment (and yes, my computer screen is glowing brightly! LOL)
I am getting sick though (as an educator this never fails ... you hang on until the last day of school and then ... voila, sick with a cold or flu .. it happens to me just about every Christmas and summer break!!) but trying to curb it before it gets too bad. Lots of resting, liquids, and my Fruit plus chews!!
Okay, so Leslie asked a great question. I think everyone understand but just to be perfectly clear - we are swapping Challenge Ideas! No cards get mailed ... you make the cards, you keep the cards, you use the cards next year!!
Ok, so hopefully when I get to my craft stuff..................I will explain across the hall if Mom hasn't already...I just keep telling myself I love my life...................
I can't wait to start!!!!!
Heheheh, Denise, I just sent you a PM to invite you ... in case you had missed it!! This is such a flexible swap I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to join!! I'll add you next on the list Just pm me with an idea for a challenge on your week!!!

WELCOME to Leslie! I agree with you, Donelda! Now I will know 3 people from Nova Scotia...Wiggy, Leslie, and Jamie (one of our dear friends who is a cardiologist here in Cleveland is originally from Nova Scotia). I will agree, some of the nicest people I know!
I'm in and can post now Thanks for the welcome everyone. I am going to have a hard time with my own theme LOL!
Can't wait to get started once the holiday hustle and bustle ends
Welcome Linda! Glad you are able to join us. YOUR CHALLENGE is going to make me have to think out of the BOX!!!! ! LOL But I think I can come up with something thanks to my dear friend Linda Palmer for some images she mailed me a long time back.

Oh Leslie, I am so glad you finally got on!! Now you can join in on the chatting fun!
So I keep thinking of other challenges that would be fun. but I want to wait until everyone gets their challenge ideas in (I don't want to steal the idea of others) and then we can start filling in the left over Fridays
I'm really excited about doing this. If this doesn't get me ahead for next Christmas, I don't know what will. I'm loving all the great idea's. Happy to see new faces joining in the fun.
Thanks Donelda for coming up with such a great idea.
