Arrow Secret Sister Card Kit Swap, Round 8 -- CLOSED and chatting!

Welcome to Round 8 of the Secret Sister Card Kit Swap!

***Special thanks to Angela (monkeymama) for her awesome job hosting Round 7!

We will run from May through July, sending our Secret Sister 2 card kits per month. Card kits can be sent separate or together, and should be received by the 28th of the month.

**As a special twist for this round we will be using themes to create one of the two kits. Here are the THEMES:

May: Recycle it! In honor of the green movement, create a kit that includes recycled or re-purposed items. This can mean anything you want -- flowers cut from book pages, supplies you have in stock but never used, recycling theme. Let your imagination run wild!

June: Summer. Hurray for warm weather!

July: Christmas in July. Holiday fun!

Card Kit Contents:
1. 2-3 stamped images---please use Copic-friendly ink and leave room for cropping.

2. Two 6"x6" pieces of DP

3. Minimum of 12 inches of ribbon, cord, fiber, trim, etc.

4. Set of embellishments: Examples are brads, eyelets, charms, hardware, gems, flowers, etc.

5. Last, but not least, the EXTRAS!!! These are the things that make a good kit great: Examples are CS for card base, envelopes, punched or die cut shapes, picture of a finished card using the supplies, extra paper (images, ribbon, or embellies) etc. Think of a kit you have gotten in a swap that made you say "Wow"---that's the idea!

Special Hints:
***Please coordinate the contents of your kit.

***Please stamp with a juicy pad to ensure your images are dark, crisp, and clean.

***As always, please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns.

***If you upload a card made with a kit, could you please use the code SSCKS8? Thanks, that way they will all be in the same gallery!

Swappers:
1. jlazarski (Jessica)
2. germanstampler (Imke)
3. taclary (Tracie)
4. Queenbee Jo (Joanna)
5. monkeymama (Angela)

Started to fill out the questionnaire, but am at work and the babies are acting up, so I'll have to try later.

Looking forward to seeing all of my "old" friends, and getting to know our 3 newest members!

Hello, Ladies! Glad to see everyone here.

Kara has been sick again, so it may be another day or so before I can get the match ups to you. The anticipation is tough, I know!

Jessica- do not worry and take your time. I hope Kara is it better soon-this is the most important.

I answer the questions already. I'm the first? Here we go:

Cardmaking Likes:
1. Any kind of embellishemts (bling, pearls, buttons, ribbon, brads)
2. Patterned Paper
3. Dies

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1. Vintage- I´m not good in doing this.
2. Eyletts
3. Chipboards

Birthdate:
31 December

What is your favorite color?
My cardbase is mostly "craft". Basically I like most colors except neon. It just has to fit everything together. I open for new experiences

Favorite holiday?
Christmas

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try?
Well, i´m a "Papertrey Ink" junkie and i like stamps who are very versatile. I don´t like it too cute. I would say my stamping style is clean, easy and simple.
I would like to try "There She Goes", "Verve" , "Lockhart". I also like these cute "Changitos" from Stampendous. At least i like to color with Copics- so all i can color would be fine. I am happy about everything anyway

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat?
Licorice, chocolate, nuts

Hobbies?
Reading, traveling, cycling, diving

Any special info your Sis should know?
No- I´m easy to please

Do you need more information about my stamping style- feel free to visit my blog.

"And the survey says"....

Cardmaking Likes:
1. Self stick (adhesive) gems, pearls, etc
2. Metal charms to attach to ribbons
3. Ribbon, fibers, twine
There’s not a whole lot that I dislike. If I can’t use it in card making, I can usually use it when I scrapbook. I really like patterned papers that have a coordinating line of embellishments so that it all "goes together".

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1. Glitter…I can’t use the loose stuff without making a huge mess. I do like stickles and the gel pens that have a bit of silvery metallic to them.

Birthdate: October 4

What is your favorite color? I tend to like cool blues, greens, and purples. I wear lots of greens because it complements my complexion and red hair. But I use just about every color when I make cards or scrap.

Favorite holiday? My birthday is my all time favorite holiday, but Christmas Eve, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving are high on my list, too.

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try? I like lots of different stamp companies…I am still a hobby demo for SU!; I like Mo Manning, Verve, Bella’s Mavis the Cat, MFT's Pure Innocence, Our Daily Bread, Penny Black, Northwoods….good grief, it sure is difficult to pin down any one. There are a couple of stamps I am not really crazy about like Kraftin’Kimmie. I do prefer non-cutesy stamps (except for cats--I love my kitties!) and tend to use more floral, natural, and simple images. And our own Miss Susanne has gotten me hooked on the humorous stuff, like AI.

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? I am addicted to “SIMPLY CARAMEL” bars by Milky Way (thank you, Linda Palmer ). Red twizzlers are my non-chocolate fave snack.

Hobbies? Stampin’, Scrapbooking, bike riding, spending time with my delightful (almost) 5 year old grandson, Daniel. And I do a great job at napping!!

Any special info your Sis should know? This group has so many thoughtful, caring, and very talented ladies who are willing to share with each other, and I am so happy to be a part of it!

Cardmaking Likes:
1. all kinds of bling
2. handmade flowers (love “store bought” Prima-like flowers too!)
3. ribbon, bakers twine
4. dies (memory box, sizzix, spellbinders, MFT, PTI, …never met a die I didn’t like!)
5. 6x6 paper pads and/or 8x8 paper pads

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1. flat stickers (it’s not that I dislike them, I don’t use them)
2. eyelets (have lots and lots of eyelets already)
3.

Birthdate: November 12

What is your favorite color? All shades of Pink favorite, but I love using any color.

Favorite holiday? Love all holidays…New Year’s Day, Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Just Because Day (I made this one up, just because!)…there’s at least one holiday to celebrate every month!

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try? JustRite stamps and dies to match, MFT stamps and dies, PTI stamps and dies, Heartfelt Creations stamps and dies, Hero Arts stamps and dies, Our Daily Bread stamps and dies, Our Cats Pajamas stamps and dies; actually, I LOVE ALL stamps from any company!

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? Twizzlers, Jelly-Bellies, any chocolate with carmel.

Hobbies? Cardmaking, scrapping, shopping, spending time with friends and family.

Any special info your Sis should know? IF my sis is at a loss of sending an extra with my kits, I can say I truly “need” reinkers for the Tim Holtz distress inks. I have all the inks, including the special collections, but no re-inkers!! I love this group and feel like I’m with good friends as we chat on this thread.

1. patterned paper - my all time favorite - Love 6x6 or 8x8
2. clear rhinestones and bling that I can color with Copics
3. bakers twine in all colors

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1. eyelets and brads - I like them but I have tons of them and don't use them

Favorite holiday?
Definately it's christmas

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try?
Well, I'm kind of PTI-addicted. I like the versatility of theirs sets and dies. I would love to try Flourishes and lately I have my eyes on some Paper Smooches images. There are so many "new" companies out there that have gorgeous images *sigh*. I'm not picky at all.

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat?
liquorice! I'm not a chocolate girl but I L O V E Cracker Jacks

Hobbies?
paper crafting, reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, finding new ways to keeep the kids busy

Any special info your Sis should know?
I've lived in the States for a while. Now I'm in Germany and terribly "home sick". So whenever I get an envie from the US it just makes me smile - whatever the content is. I'm easy to please. And I'm very thankful to be a part of this wonderful group.

Hi, all!

Kara is feeling a bit better today, needing less oxygen, so we are hoping for a good trend!

I have the match-ups done, but just sent a note to one of the swappers to see if she is able to be my big sis this round. Once we hear from her and one other gal, I will send out your Secret Sis' info. Hoping for tomorrow!

Thanks Jessica. I know round 7 is not over yet, but am looking forward to getting to know my round 8 sis and if her name is provided tomorrow there will be a little shopping/creating over the weekend for one of the May cardkits. I love the themes to create one of the monthly cardkits around.

Okay-time to get my survey filled out! Here it is:

Cardmaking Likes:
1.Patterned paper. Love the 6x6 and/or 8x8.
2.All types of self-adhesive bling.
3.Dies of all types. Except for Stampin' Up Bigs, that is, as my machine (an Epic 6) won't work with them.
4.All kinds/types of flowers.

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1.No eyelets or brads, please. Have lots of brads, and will probably never try eyelets.
2.Vintage/distress.
3.Glitter, flat stickers.
4.Clear or acrylic stamps. I suck big-time at using them, and am currently getting rid of all of the ones I own.

Birthdate: September 2, 1974

What is your favorite color? I would have to say blue and green are my favorite colors. I really like almost all colors, although I don't care much for pastel shades. I also tend to prefer silver to gold. I love bright and vibrant!

Favorite holiday?Hmmm, this is a tough one. I would have to say Christmas, Valentine's Day, and my birthday.

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try?I love Stampin' Up, Hero Arts, most companies really. If it is rubber, or rubber cling, I will likely love it! I am not a huge fan of unmounted stamps. As for images, nothing too cutesy and nothing religious, please. Otherwise, anything goes! I aplogize if I am sounding fussy.

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat?I love Crispy Crunch chocolate bars, sugar free candies. I know, the second item seems unlikely given the first. But a girl has to have some chocolate and I try to behave SOME of the time, LOL.

Hobbies?Reading, music, stamping, cardmaking, hanging out on SCS, spending time with friends.

Any special info your Sis should know?I am very happy to be a part of this swap and can't wait to start on the first kit! I look forward to getting to know everyone better.

And thank you so much for the warm welcome!!

I guess MFT: Pure Innocence or A la Mode, Mo Manning, Art Impression, Whippersnapper, Inky Antics, Whimsy, LOTV, Kraftin Kimmie, I could go on. Pretty much the ONLY stamps I don't like are flowers or realistic stamps

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? Unfortunately, I am diabetic so most of my "treats" involve Starbucks or diet cokes!

Hobbies? Reading, Quilting, Sewing, Movies, Board Games, talking on the phone!

Angie: don't give away your clear stamps yet. I think that you will find that you like them more later. When I first started stamping, I didn't like them either but now they are my favorite stamps. I like how you can bend the words to fit in a circle. They are soooo versatile. Hang on to them!

To All Lovers of the retired Wild Wild West Stamp set - and of course, Da Man!!
To All Lovers of the retired Wild Wild West Stamp set - and of course, Da Man!!

Since next year will be Stampin' Up's 25th anniversary, we are HOPING they will consider the re-releasing of some of their most famous retired sets. Many of us are hoping for the RE-RELEASE of WILD WILD WEST!!! Many SCS stampers would agree, Wild Wild West would be a very successful set for them to bring back to celebrate this important milestone, SO, we are on a mission!
Bring back WWW!
Mothermark (Cindy) is in the process of launching a "campaign", I guess you would call it, to "BRING BACK DA' MAN" Her plan is to make SU aware of how often that set is STILL being used and supported. Cindy asked me to pass the word to anyone I knew that might have cards in their gallery made with WWW. She would like you to email her a link to your WWW cards in your gallery and give her your permission to post the pictures on her Women of the Wild Wild West Blog in an effort to increase the number of cards posted there, and send to her at teapottuesday@gmail.com
Here is the blog if somehow or another you have missed it - some fantastic cards - for SURE!

Of course if anyone is ready to let go of the MAN, Sue (irishgreensue) would be interested - just PM her!!

Hope you can all help spread the word to those who were deprived of getting it way back when, those who came into stamping after that set was no longer available, and those who just have to have Da Man for themselves! Feel free to copy and paste this and email all your buddies - Mothermark is also hoping to start a thread in the General Stamping Forum at SCS asking stampers to leave a comment on how much they want the set brought back. Maybe even ask people who leave a comment there to send an email to SU (marketing department) requesting it be brought back for the celebration. Then that thread can be viewed by SU and hopefully it will become evident how successful a re-release of it would be!

Thanks for any and all help you can give us spreading this info to gain support. We will keep you updated when we get permission to post in the forum, here on SCS.

Hig Bugs,
Cindy (Mothermark) and
Sue (irishgreensue)

Hello! All the PMs with little sis info went out this morning. At least I think it was all of them -- let me know if I missed anyone!

Also let me know if there are any issues so we can fix them before May rolls around. It is coming soon, isn't it?!
