Hahaha - Heather -- now I know what you mean about being busy in February and March !!! LOL!! Congratuations!!
So Heather send me a PM and asked about "missing" some time (obvious now!! LOL) for this new Weekly Christmas Card Challenge. Personally, I think it needs to be what it is. We'll set up weekly challenges and the thread and we can all use it as it works for us.
I've added names of those who have already expressed an interest. However, I am really flexible and can edit it as needed!!
Remember - This is all about having fun!!
So here is the Thread -- please go check it out and if your name is not there and you'd like to join in, just let me know and I'll add you to the list.
Wiggy...Love the idea of the Summer-Christmas challenge--maybe rather than the doodads...we could have subjects: SNOWMAN WEEK--whoever is into snowman...make some cards...other weeks could be; SANTA, ANGELS/FAIRIES, CHristmas treats, trees, etc...then, whoever wants to play...can do the virtual thing? I have a tendency to design ONE style card--and get prepped for making like (60) of them...an assembly line if you will...my problem is...I need a swift kick in the rear to get in SANTA mode come June?! Call me crazy right...since by August all the fall colors are out...etc...So this would be a good virtual event for me--if anything it would get me thinking snow, cold and Christmas!
PS. Still searching for decorative paper napkins and plates for my Christmas dinner/dessert table--my golly, I think the world has gone green--or I just don't like the fact that Walmart has these ugly napkins for Christmas...they look like something you would use for a 2 year olds b-day party...I am going to buy their wedding napkins--in silver--ornate decorative patter...will spice up my table...silver candles...bada-bing bada boom..done! I have been to like every discount, grocery, card store and NO ONE has a supply of decorative napkins for Christmas!

Kathy- I like Dawn Mc Veyīs creations and she use a lot of Pink and Melon Berry together. It looks so great. Thanks for your "green tip". I have to think about on my next order.
Patti- Iīm a proud owner of a cuttlebug. LOL I really love my little green machine. I use it always for Dies, Spellbinders and EB Folders.
Joanna- Iīve heard in the news that the West is hit by a snow storm. Was it because ? I wish you a nice flight and a great time with your sis.
Heather- Congrats on your first baby.
Susanne- I'm booking a flight and come to dinner It sounds delicious. We have on 24 December, the day when Santa comes to us in Germany, potato salad and sausages. A traditional Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve.
Donelda- Thanks for open the new swap. I was already there...
Today I go the last time on the Christmas market. Drink a mulled wine and eat crepes....and....and....all the other yummie things.....
Imke--Funny you should say Christmas Eve dinner--that's where I am a slouch! I am usually so tired of cooking, prep'g and doing all the work that we usually try and order pizza's to bring home--most restaurants are closed early so their employees can go enjoy Christmas Eve with their loved ones. One year, we thought we made it in time and just sat down at a restaurant at 6 and they said their kitchen was closed--but they could heat up some snacks from the bar....we left and found a Chinese restaurant to take food home! {I am the only person in the world that does not really like Chinese food!}
So Christmas Eve, I am usually making the Strata for our breakfast--and setting the tables for the next day.
Our tree is decorated--it turned out nicely--I was worried because it was not standing upright straight from all directions--new TREE STAND needed--I think it's time to retire our old one (27 years old)...We placed our tree in the middle of the house between the TV room/Living room and eating area of the kitchen so we can see it and enjoy it this year...In years past, we have always put it in the livingroom corner and you had to go there to see the tree! My house looks so festive--I am lovin' it in its new location!

I'm trying to get a few things done before I go into work later.... Am working on drawing names and will try to PM everybody today.... Exciting stuff!
Donelda, I love your Christmas card idea but I am having trouble getting everything done lately. I am sooo far behind in our monthly image swap already. Can I just pop in and participate in the challenges if my schedule allows?
1. The attic addition is in full swing right now, and the downstairs is also getting rewired at present.
2. The new schedule at work was posted and I almost cried when I saw it.... Many of our new nurses have quit, so we are short. Plus, I have all the responsibilities of leading one of the organization's operational councils on top of my regular job. I enjoy the council because I learn a lot, but a lot of days I don't know whether I am coming or going.
3. I don't get much help here at home, as far as running the household.... Wish I had a magic wand to wave that would cook, clean, and do laundry! LOL
4. On top of everything else, making quality time with the kids is high on my list of priorities...it's the most important one of all!
Anyway, all of these things are making me feel very frazzled right now....
Susanne, your menu sounds delish!
Heather, congratulations! What an exciting time for you!

CONGRATULATIONS, Heather!! What exciting news that is!!
ooooh, after reading Susanne's Christmas dinner list, I'm thinking about making a plane reservation...think I can be back home by 7pm to go to work on Christmas night? That menu sounds absolutely yummy!!
Gotta go check out the new Christmas card challenge thread, then off to bed for me. Back into work again tonight
Yeah...my colors stayed on my wishlist outline! OY...it's like plucking hairs from syrup to do that detail--patting self on back!!!
I would LOVE to have you as my guest Ms. Patticakes! Come early--set you a plate to go and git you to Logan or Manchester--which is ever faster! Funny--my SIL and I joke about the POUNDS of butter, sour cream, and Ritz crackers we go through for holidays--we both just toss in an extra pound of buddah in our grocery carts...JUST IN CASE!!! I need to start collecting cute S&P shakers...I just bought a set from a fair (painted daisies motif)...but I always have (2-3 tables set) for holidays and end up giving one table our boring everyday set!!! That and a buddah curler--I should ck out Bed, Bath & Beyond for this jazz huh?...

Angela--sounds exciting at your house--not such a good week to have labor intensive work done...but keep your eye on the ball...when it's done..ITS DONE! fun!!!
Our kitchen sink faucet just started to act up yesterday--you turn the water off (cold side only) and it still dribbles...I am hoping this is just a 'washer replacement'...pointed it out to DH last night--he shrugged?...Listen Mister..no shruggin' here--I want to see you RUN to Home Depot!!! hahaha Have you ever had a faucet just go KABOTS on you? I have...it isn't pretty--water spraying--this happened the first month we were in the house! Yikes!

Quick question about the swap, it's two kits per month for Feb, Mar, Apr. I'm assuming the last kit is a reveal? Or is there 2 kits + the reveal in April?

Oh Susanne! I think anything a n a l is a *star* word here on splitcoast! LOL
So happy for you Heather! Once I got started I didn't stop! hehehe My first two girls were born in the same year! One in January and one in December!! (Husband was in service...had to make the most of those leaves!) Two years later another girl. Then things happen and fast forward several years, married again and added two sons.
I am resting at home today; was under the weather last night; went to bed around 7 p.m. and just got up an hour ago! Must have a touch of the flu, but am feeling much better now. Going to try and finish one of the many swaps I said I wasn't going to do again but somehow my name keeps appearing in certain swap lists! LOL
Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! (at least when I go back to the office tomorrow I will have the building to myself; Christmas break begins at the end of the school day today for students and staff.)

That's right, Heather, it's 2 kits a month for Feb.-April. Your last kit can be your reveal package. Some people mail 2 packages a month and some combine the kits...it is up to you.
Hi everyone! I am finally feeling much better. I went to the Dr. today and had an echo cardiogram. The technician said everything looked good, could see no leaks in my valves and everything looks good but he would sent to the Heart Institute and they would also check it out and send to my Dr. I was sure it would be fine as I have had no problems actually in the 11 years since my heart surgery.
I am ready for Scott and Debra. Had some Grandkids and Greats visiting last night and my other son Steve dropped in. He was looking for Pecan Pralines, his favorite candy.
We had a good visit and Jacen keeps us on our toes. He is 4 1/2 and told us he had been thinking of trying some Japanese food. No one knows where he heard that, none of us except Denise has ever been to a Japanese restaurant.
Heather , Congratulations on the new baby. Exciting news for your family. I think not knowing is fun. I am so much older than most of the ladies on here, sonograms were unheard of when I had my 4 children. The gender was learned at their birth by the Dr. announcing it.
Joanna, so glad you are getting to spend Christmas with your sister.

Linda so glad to hear you are finally feeling better!! It sounds like so much fun having all the family around.
Vickie glad you are feeling better too! The flu can be nasty but sometimes it goes as fast as it comes.
Christmas break starts today for my son and myself!! I am so glad. I am just beat!! I worked hard today to get as much of my work done as I could so I can relax over the break and not do more work .. or stress about the work I didn't get done.
I have just sent out new S.S. names! I tried to make sure that everyone got someone they havn't had before, so if I messed up please let me know ASAP! Thank you!
The electrician and DH got a lot of work done today. I mentioned to him that we had bought a router and were having trouble hooking it up. In less than 5 minutes we had wifi...how cool is that?! Now I can get online with my Kindle Fire while sitting in my cozy recliner...woohoo! You see, simple things really make me happy!
Linda--even since I have had my babies the techno baby field has expanded into so much more! We got a blurry chalky gray picture of my kids! I didn't want to know the sex--both Tom and I were on the same page with this--it was fun to pick out (6) names (funny how the boy and girl names changed with every list) "Katelyn" became so popular when I was thinking of that name--by the time I had Kala--2 friends had picked that name...so I went back to the baby book and chose "Kala" (no "y"--to make it different)!
I think its cute when the kids ask for something special you make--my boy's pretty much demanded "Kugula" this holiday because they didn't get their fix on Thanksgiving--so I will oblige them!
So we all got our SS names huh? Oh goodie gumdrops! Another fun-filled round--I can just feel it in my bones!

Favorite holiday? Christmas, but right now is the wrong time to ask because I am feeling swamped!
Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try? the new My Favorite Things Pure Innocence or a la modes
Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? coffee and chocolate
Angela - Got my name and I am super excited to start another round.
Imke - I would be curious to know what your Christmas Eve meal will be. My Rehab Therapist has a student from Germany living with her and he told her they celebrate on Christmas Eve. She wants to fix him a meal on Christmas Eve that would remind him of home.
Linda - Glad to hear you are feeling better. Not a good time of year to be sick. You want to enjoy all those visitors over the holidays. Hope you and Debra get some stamping in while she is there.
Vickie - Hope you aren't sick for the holidays.
All my Christmas chores are done except wrapping (Okay put in bags). Just looking forward to spending time with family.
- What is a colour of cardstock that you like to use a lot but find you never have it when you go to reach for it?
Textured red, black, and white are always in short supply. I especially like the linen white for my CAS bases!
- Is there a consumable product you have that you need more of? you know, like your white glitter is alomost out or you are almost out of red line tape, or your YG62 Copic marker is your favorite and you don't have a the refill for it.
I seem to always be low on the above CS colors and Herma removable dotted adhesive.
- Is there a paper line that you love? And if you love it, is that the same thing as wanting to recieve it as part of a Secret Sister package?
I've been a Basic Grey fan for a long time, but it seems like so many companies are producing quality paper now: DCWV, K&Co., Paper Studio. Any fun DP is appreciated in a kit!
- what is your favorite embellishment you like to add to your cards? And do you need more of that favorite embellishment or not?
Ribbon is my #1 favorite embellie. Do I need any more? Not really, but I will always be excited to see it in a kit!
Angela -- I agree that settling down in a cozy chair with my iPad is a wonderful way to relax, at least when I can track down the device from other family members who feel the same way! Enjoy your down time!!
Hope everyone is feeling better by the weekend celebrations! Middle DD is still a bit under the weather; there's just so many viruses around now.
Angela- Thanks for the S.S. info !! And congrats to have WiFi.
Tracie- In Germany Santa comes on 12/24 in the evening. Since that day can be very stressful. Decorate the tree (This is done with us until Christmas Eve or the day before) for churchgoers: Church in the afternoon, prepare the gifts and so on, the most german eat Potato salad and sausages. My parents have never done that. It seemed too simple for Christmas. LOL On the first and second day of Christmas, there is often a formal dinner. Goose, turkey or duck. Something special.
Linda- I can not believe that you have never eaten Chinese Food ! Jacen knows what's good Try it - i love it because itīs light meal.

Answering Patti's room question:
**Do you use any kind of machine in your card making? By "machine" I mean a Cuttlebug, or Big Shot, or Cricut, or other kind of die cut/embossing machine. If so, what kind? Do you use it for die cuts, embossing, or both?
Thanks to all in advance for answers!
I have/use Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Cricut, and Spellbinders Grand Calibur (also have the Quickutz squeeze but haven't used it in years because those dies can now be used in the Big Shot). I LOVE using embossing folders and dies; my cricut gets dusted off every once in a while (have lots of cartridges and need to start using them for all kinds of papercrafting projects)

Linda, glad you are feeling better and got a good report from your doctor.
I'm at work today, feel much better than yesterday! Principal just poked his head in my office and said the custodians are going to mop/wax floors outside of my office so to take off around 11 this morning; yeah, right, the director whom I report to will have a different idea...whenever he gets here...he said before noon. sheesh...they (the building principal and the CTE director don't see eye to eye at all; makes for strained working environment). BUT, I can handle it for 6 more months....then I'm outa here...retiring kinda early, but it's best for my health!
Susanne, your menu is making me hungry! I'll hop that plane with Patti!
........goodie gumdrops......................... LOL!!! Susanne you make me laugh!!!!!!!!!!
Angela - yeah for Wifi and yeah for SS names!!!!
Germany Christmas sounds a fair amount different than ours here in Canada. I would be so sad to only put my tree up on the 23rd or 24th. I love sitting here in my livingroom with the tree lights on early in the morning! It is SOOOOO Peaceful!!! (except for the light glaring from my computer as I sit typing iwth you guys LOL!)
Vickie - an early retirement sounds okay to me ... except I am many years away! But if it is for your health that is a wise decision. So frustrating that those guys can't see eye to eye and it is especially difficult when it affect the other employees and they can't see it or fix it!! Sometimes leadership is really lacking where it should be present the most!!
I use my Cuttlebug for almost every card! Most times it is for the Nestabilities dies, but I also love my few PTI dies and occasionally emboss, too.
I remember that my grandmother only put up the tree on Christmas eve too Imke. I agree Donelda, I like having the tree up longer but the fun of my grandmother's way was the pickle ornament. Whoever found the pickle got an extra present. Looking for it was fun. We still have the pickle but no extra present.
Your meal does sound amazing Suser.
Congrats on the baby Heather. Post some pictures when s/he arrives. I miss babies.
Way to go steppin' out of the box getting Japanese food! Ken's grandparents lived in Japan so we have it quite a bit. I love sushi but you might like a bento box which is basically rice, fried vegies and chicken with terriyaki sauce. Yum.
Vickie, I am so glad you are feeling better and Congrats on retirement. I have to admit I am busier than ever and don't understand why!
I have a cuttlebug that I love but it was giving me problems with my wrist and hands so bought myself the electric vagabond and I really love it. Push button is the way to go with people with hand problems. My right hand is kinda twisted so it works great for me to use it. I am saving my cuttlebug though, definitely not getting rid of it. Love embossing folders and dies.
Susanne, think I'll join the rest of the girls and join you for dinner. Love that menu. For the first time ever we are not having turkey or ham. Scott said he was sick of both and wanted prime rib so we bought a huge one and going to have loaded baked potatoes and salad plus lots of snacks and pies. For Christmas Eve we are having tacos and chili and frito chili pies plus pin wheels and sausage and cheese trays, cheese balls etc. With four of us splitting the cost of the prime rib it was not a bad price and the smaller kids will have mac and cheese and hamburger steaks. It is definitely different for us cause it has always been turkey or ham and the fixings. I have swis steak in the crock pot for dinner tonight because Scott said Steve always gets it for his birthday and he is never around for his which was Dec. 7th so I am surprising him with mashed potatoes, swiss steak and green beans when they get here later today.
Jess, hope your DD gets better and is well by Christmas. These Viruses are hard to get rid of. Praying for her to be well and have a wonderful Christmas.
Wiggy, hope you get to do exactly what you want to do on your holiday.
Imke, Sounds like a fun Christmas Eve. I love Chinese food, but it was Japanese food that Jacen wanted to try. We don't have any Japanese restaurants here in our town but lots of Chinese. Probably 5 Chinese restaurants in Bartlesville.
Denise, have fun with all my Great Grandkids. We are missing you all.
Angela, so glad you have wifi, so much easier with all the electronics we have.
Tracie, glad your physical therapy is working for you.

Donelda- The christmas tree often remain with us until the first week of January. He is only set up Christmas Eve. We have the tree usually 2 weeks in the house.
Linda- Oh, now I understand.Jacen means something like Sushi ? Thatīs really unusual for a little child. Maybe he saw something on TV about it ?
Vickie- I'm happy for everyone can be retired early and enjoy life. And certainly, if it is better for your health. I have to work about 30 years, with me it will take.
Jessica- Sending get well wishes for your DD. Itīs not nice to be sick on christmas eve.
Joanna- What a nice idea from your grandmother. That was certainly a big fun and an extra gift is always great. Especially as a child.
Oh boy...last night...watched "Midnight in Paris"...was wrapping presents and BOOM! The flu hit me like a truck going 100 mph! ? Where did this come from out of the blue? I was up all night--ALL NIGHT LONG! Haven't had the flu in 20 years (was preggo with Shane)...wasted today sleeping (as if I had a choice)....drinking tea....moving around the cabin slowly!
