It's time for a new Forest Swap! EVERYONE is WELCOME to join!!! This is my 13th forest swap (I'm the Forest Ranger) and each one has been a lot of fun.
We are a chatty group - those of us in the forest together. We refer to one another as
Forest Friends and would love for you to become a Forest Friend, too! As each swap winds down, a new one takes form. After all, we have to have somewhere to hang out and chat. LOL!
Here are the details!
Pansy (c-mouse) came up with a great idea for this one…
SEASONS IN THE FOREST!
CARDS
Swappers are encouraged to create full-sized SEASONAL cards – YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY OF THE FOUR SEASONS – it would be nice if your cards have
an outdoors/nature theme of some sort.
Cards need to use good quality cardstock (so the card can stand alone) and include a minimum of two layers and one embellishment. Full size cards are 4 1/4 X 5 1/2". If you choose to create a size other than that, please include envelopes for each of the cards. Thank you! This is a 5 + 1 Swap, which means you send 6 cards, the Ranger – that’s me – keeps one for being a fun hostess, and you get 5 back. Please use at least two layers of quality cardstock and include at least one embellishment on your cards.
RECIPE CARDS
The Recipe Card category was a big hit in the last two forest swaps, so we’re going to have it again. Do I hear excitement??? Recipe cards are 6 X 6” and need to include a typed (not handwritten) recipe and at least two layers and one embellishment. Stamping is not a requirement on the recipe cards, though stamping is a great addition to them. THE RECIPE CARD CATEGORY WILL BE A 3 + 1 swap. That means you send me four identical recipe cards and you get 3 back.
I think the Seasons theme coordinates well with recipes. You can choose a recipe that you enjoy in particular seasons – for instance a soup recipe in winter, a grilled recipe in summer, etc. OR you can use a recipe that is enjoyed any time of the year but use seasonal papers and embellishments on your recipe card.
CARD CANDY
THE CARD CANDY CATEGORY WILL BE A 3 + 1 swap. That means you send me four identical sets of card candy and you get 3 back. If you’ve never made card candy before, the best way I can explain it is to tell you it is handmade embellishments that can be used on cards and such.
Some seasonal ideas for CARD CANDY would be a pile of fallen leaves (Autumn), a snowman (Winter), Handmade Flowers (Spring), S’mores on a Stick (Summer). THESE ARE JUST IDEAS to get your creative juices flowing. I’m sure you will come up with wonderful ideas!!!
Card candy should be a more elaborate item (like a punch art critter that you’ve put together
here is an example) or it should be a set of at least 3 coordinating items. (
Here is an example of the way to make sets.
Here is another example.) And remember, you are sending 4 identical items, so if you choose a coordinated set of 3 items, you would make 4 of those sets and send them.
Remember, these MUST be handmade, not simply a punched item, but something you’ve put together.
MAKE SOMETHING YOU WOULD BE PROUD TO ADD TO ONE OF YOUR OWN PROJECTS, so that your fellow swappers will be happy to receive it.
Please see Post #3 for additional information about Card Candy. I'll also try to post some links there from time to time, with examples of Card Candy.
CARD KITS
We are adding a new category to this forest swap, due to some interest in this during the last forest swap. We’ll see how many like the idea. THE CARD KIT CATEGORY WILL BE A 3 + 1 swap.
Card Kits should include (at minimum) the following:
...3 or 4 Stamped SEASONAL images (all the same) stamped onto a full 4 ¼ X 5 ½” piece of cardstock. Please use a Copic-friendly ink, such as memento, brilliance, etc. Make sure there are no smudges or faint spots on your images before you send them.
...3 or 4 sheets of coordinating papers (designer paper is encouraged). These should measure at least 4” X 5 ¼” in size. The recipient will use her own cardstock for the card base.
...12” of ribbon that coordinates with the other kit items
...3 or 4 other embellishments (buttons, flowers, brads, etc.)
...Sentiments are OPTIONAL
...You can also include any number of additional items of your choice – die cuts, punched items, etc.
If you’ve never before participated in a card kit swap, let me encourage you to give it a try. They are a lot of fun…. and it gives you the opportunity to use some products you don’t own. I personally love to take a kit or two along when I travel, because they are self-contained and easy to use on-the-go.
This swap is due in my hands on or before July 3.
Sooooooooo… are we ready to get this swap started???
Steps to take in the
SEASONS In the Forest Swap:
Step One
Sign up – take a spot today! (or two or three, but each spot needs to be a different design). You will not get one of your own items, so be sure to make an extra for yourself.
Step Two
Germinate an idea for your project. To germinate is defined as to sprout; bud; develop. There is NVR on these items other than using good quality cardstock for the base.
Step Three
Expand your idea. Cards and Recipe cards need to have at least one embellishment. Card Kits need to include images, designer paper, and embellishments (sentiment is optional). Card Candy needs to be handmade.
Step Four
Once your projects are
mature (finished) place them in a ziplock bag (to protect them as they travel to my house through spring showers and summer thunderstorms). Include your real name, your SCS name, and the name of the swap for identification purposes.
Step Five
Enlarge your forest by mailing your projects to me along with a self-addressed stamped envelope.
THERE IS NO NEED TO SEND (2) EXTRA STAMPS LIKE MANY HOSTESSES SUGGEST, SINCE MY POST OFFICE PREFERS TO SEND THE PACKAGES POSTAGE DUE FOR ANY OVERAGE.
In return, I will mail your
SEASONS IN THE FOREST projects within a reasonable amount of time at the conclusion of this swap.
A few last thoughts…
…
PM me when you’re ready to ship and I will give you my address.
…
Hang out with the FOREST FRIENDS. There will be lots and LOTS of chatting, fun quotes, contests, prizes, the sharing of recipes, maybe even a joke or two. You never know what to expect in the forest.
... Have fun!
To get the fun started, I've chosen 3 mystery numbers in each of the categories. The swappers who sign up for those spots will each win a prize!!! BUT I'm not telling what the numbers are until someone lands on the spot.
AND of course Pansy will be getting a PRIZE (if she joins), since she gave us the idea for a Season Swap.
Now… from the words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that.”
