Oh boy...I made creamy broccoli /potato soup...K loves broc...so I steamed extra and "blended" it...haha...we are now calling our dinner soup "Dr. Seuss Soup" since it's rather on the green side! I also made Apple Crisp--cut my finger on the peeler! OUCH! Der...But all is good in whoville and I cannot wait for dinner--feel I have had "junk food" dinners all weekend-running, Subway or finger foods...I need something real!

Pat--I am going right now to ck on that paper! Don't buy too much...October is YOUR month! : )

Pat,

That is what people kept saying. Vickie and Tracie are so alike. I do believe we are kindred spirits. Thought I would post a picture of both of us although I wonder why we waited until the end of our trip to take a picture. Neither one of us were at our best.

Still haven't had time to unpack because we went to my BIL house for dinner. Still trying to catch up on my sleep. I had to make a card today for my first challenge card on the Twisted Tuesday Design team. I like the way it turned out.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Tracie and Vickie, great photo. So glad you both got to meet and had so much fun. I've spent the entire day either at church for church or the Pastor's 40th wedding anniversary party. What time I didn't spend there, I made halloween cards.

Mornin' all!
Happy Sunny Monday here--Patrick had a busy weekend and was off to work at 7 am this morning...I plan to whip up some meatballs and freeze 1/2 for another dinner. Other than that--just hangin'--I think I need to get to Absolutely Everything for Pat's goodie package-so I am going to try to squeeze that trip in today too.

I found my Memory Box Tree die--yeah! I am so relieved...not sure if I mentioned this--thought it got stuck on someone paper at my class--it was mixed in with the 6x6 scrap pages I was showing off to my class!!!

Don't ya just love long weekends?

Imke--my finger is healing fine--the Apple Crisp was a hit...so I guess us cooks have to take the good with the bad!!! haha

Have a fabulous Columbus Day!

Vickie--Tracie--great picture and I am so glad you both met up and had fun--one of these days we'll all get to meet one another--wouldn't that be a riot?!

Good morning!

Great picture Vickie and Tracie; glad you ladies had fun!

Susanne, I want to come and eat at your house! I have to make something good for supper since I worked the weekend...you never know what DH will feed the kids! I'm thinking beef stew sounds good....

All this talk about apples.... I love a good, crisp apple...like a Granny's Smith. Ivy always wants to buy caramel apples, but they are pricey. So I dice an apple into large chunks, drizzle caramel on it, and toss dry roasted peanuts on top...it is a good treat. We had an apple tree when I grew up and I always fed them to the horses.

I had better get busy, it's my day off but I have some classes to do online and I have to go in for a meeting.

Have a great day everybody!

We had a great time! I can't wait to do it again! Tracie, thank you so much for everything you did for us!

I'm still a bit under the weather...ears still plugged and a little cough now! Gonna do the nettie pot thing today and hope it helps lossen everything up!

I still have to unpack also. Glad my friend Gail drove to KC because I would have never gotten it all in my suitecase!

Need to take a hot shower and will be back later!

If you live around the corner would, I would like to invite you to taste

I show you some pictures. Our Apple Tree, our harvest in the garage and all the juice in 5 liter containers in our basement.

And again thank you to Patti for her wonderful kits. I sent you a PM because I had a question for you on the kit. I now think I am set for Halloween and a good start on Christmas.

Oh Imke...it's delicious! The pan I made last night has 2 "slices" left.

I peeled, removed the core and sliced 10 MacIntosh apples. I sprinkled some lemon juice on them while doing this process to keep them from turning brown.

You mix the finished sliced apple pieces in a baking pan add; white sugar, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and old fashion oatmeal oats...place all of that on top...Bake 45 minutes and it is like apple pie w/o the dough! Serve with vanilla ice cream while it's warm...Oooomgosh, it's a lil' slice of Heaven! Let me get the official recipe for you--you can make a pan for everyone in your entire city with that lot of apples you have! brb

Apple Crisp Recipe

(Found on Allrecipes - Recipes and cooking confidence for home cooks everywhere)

1 cup quick-cooking oats

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup butter, melted
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).
Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.
Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.

Absolutely Everything for Pat's goodie package-so I am going to try to squeeze that trip in today too.

HOORAY!!! I love having my turn this month!!!

My sister and I are planning an overnight roadtrip this weekend. We're staying at a Bed & Breakfast near Louisville, KY, it's about two hours away. It's an historical town with lots to sightsee. Can't wait.
Well I'm having a major birthday this month and my scraping girlfriends want to celebrate my birthday. They told me to leave two days open and that I will need to pack an overnite bag. Thats pretty much all they said. They are renting a van and say I can bring a medium size scrapbooking bag and I need to be ready for them to pick me up at 8AM. WOW!! I keep trying to imagine where we are going. I'm sure we'll have lots of fun!! It will probably include an Archivers somewhere because we don't have one here.
hmmmmmm.

Imke: I always think of Apple Crisp as Apple Cobbler without the crust and more of a brown sugar topping instead. I like Apple Crisp but I think that I prefer Cobbler in the long run. It's more like the apple strudel my gran used to make when I was a kid

Awesome kits arriving for you ladies.

Pat, that sounds like a lot of fun, both trips. Be sure and take photos and show us what you did on both trips.

I love both Apple Crisp and Apple cobbler. Denise makes an awesome fresh apple cake. It is pretty wonderful.

Susanne- THANKS for your recipe. I will try it- i have some apples left in my basement.

Joanne- Apple Strudel....YES i know that....In Germany it is called that way. AND i LOVE it !!

Pat- What a birthday surprise ! I'm also curious now where you're going with your friends LOL The trip with your sister sounds also great. Have a great time and enjoy !

Tracie- Both kits looks awesome. I love all the Halloween goodies.

Too bad that we donīt celebrate Halloween in Germany. On the other hand it is also good for my purse . I donī need all the Halloween stuff like paper, stamps, punches and so on. Everything has two sides, right ?
Though I have made 1 Halloween card !! It is made with the D2D Freebie and the second I do with Denise's image.
So 2 lucky persons will get a Halloween card from me LOL

Good morning!

Thanks, Imke; I was excited to see Kathleen's and my names yesterday!

Imke, I wish I could say the classes I am taking are fun, but they are not...they're for work. I had trouble accessing them on my computer and also trouble at work accessing them...so I am not sure what to do as they have deadlines for completion. I will try again next time I work...very frustrating! They are mandatory educational things like child abuse and elder abuse, since I am a mandatory reporter. There are others too....

Paisley, 6 months, is in heat. Our vet said she is very advanced...size-wise too. Just imagine a wild puppy on hormones...it isn't fun. She is used to being outdoors for most of the daylight hours and has been indoors now...she is not a happy girl. I think she is also confused about what is going on.... I have a feeling we are in for a long haul.

My Dad retired from the P.O. Yesterday was his first "real" day off...he was bored! LOL I told my Mom this would happen.... He is likely to drive her nuts; also my brother, because he will be hanging around his acreage. I think he needs a "man cave"!

Tracie, I am excited to see what you make with your kits!

Hope everybody has a great day!

Apple Cinnamon Strudel ...with white glaze frosting!!! Omgosh...delish

Funny--I do all this baking...I just take a lil' taste--everyone has eaten all my goodies this week--I was going to make a big batch of the chocolate chunk oatmeal cookies (my huge recipe yields almost 100 cookies that I share with neighbors)...I don't think I am that much of a mood to bake today--maybe something smaller!

Congratulations to your dad!

Are you planning to get Paisley "fixed"? They do settle down once this business is taken care of...Muddy still had a thing for Bogie across the street (male yellow Lab) which we always laughed about...silly dog!

Where do I see yours and Kathleen's cards?

Susanne: Both of those are challenge blogs. They should show up on Google. The challenge blogs (like Tuesday Morning Sketches, and Mojo Monday) post on a specific morning and then encourage people to make cards that fit their challenge or theme (Creative Card Crew's theme is birds this week).

When you post your card you become eligible for prizes from whomever is the sponsor that week. Some of the prizes are great (Bugaboo is pretty generous, their prize is usually 7 digi-images, most sponsors offer up around 4 images or $15 to spend in their etsy shop).

You can go to either the specific challenge blogs to see Kathy and Angela's cards or to their individual blogs. There are sites which tell you the challenges for the week (like Trouvez des Challenges - french for "find the challenges") and then you can enter. It's a great way to get traffic to your blog and possibly win prizes.

You should TOTALLY do it Sus. And send me some Oatmeal Cookies! I love them but never make them because I (sadly) am the only one who likes them here. Everyone else likes Chocolate Chip so I end up making those.

You should TOTALLY do it Sus. And send me some Oatmeal Cookies! I love them but never make them because I (sadly) am the only one who likes them here. Everyone else likes Chocolate Chip so I end up making those.
Awe QueenieJO..thanks for this update---I was starting to pinch mid-air looking for them! haha---I gotta say "Trouvez des Challenges" sounds a lot more romantic than "find the challenges"

Oh, your crew would love these Oatmeal cookies---think 2 full bags of choc chips PLUS a thick Hershey Bar as the "chocolate factor"...The Oatmeal is blended like flower---I'll send you the recipe...test em at your house and heck--send some to school because it's a huge recipe and it doesn't taste the same if you cut it in half...don't ask...I tried this-- <making side bar note to myself to run and get recipe...>

NEIMAN-MARCUS COOKIES
Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookies

2 cups butter
24 oz. Chocolate chips
4 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Salt
2 cups sugar
1 8 oz. Hershey Bar (grated/chunked)
5 cups blended oatmeal
4 eggs
2 tsp. Baking powder
2 tsp. Vanilla
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream
the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with
flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda . Add chocolate chips,

on a cookie Sheet. Bake for 10-13 minutes (depends on ball size) at 375 degrees.
Makes 112 cookies.

(laughing) OK Susie, you sold me. I'm going to try them tomorrow.

I'm exhausted today. All this mothering, DT crafting, moving, being a puppy mom and trying to start a business stuff is KILLING me. I gave in and ordered Chinese take-out tonight because I was sooo dog tired; I couldn't even THINK about cooking. I was even thinking about putting Holli in doggy day care tomorrow so I can clean the darn house. Silly yes, but I hate having her in the kennel all day and I don't seem to get diddly-doo done with taking her out every 1/2 hour. Sigh. Maybe a diaper is the key.

TJ spent today at home, sick. That's probably part of the problem. I'm trying to get a quilt done to send to a friend for her 50th anniversary and then there is the house ...

OK, no more complaining. I'm attaching two pictures of quilt blocks that I made to play with my long-arm machine. They turned out cute. 'Course, cuz I already quilted them, I can't really make a quilt with them. I'm thinking about framing them and hanging them near my sewing machine.

Just checking in! We just got back from a week long trip to visit my mother-in-law and Claire's two Great Grandmothers, who met her for the first time. Came home with a cold, which I have passed to Claire. Boo!!

Otherwise, things are trucking along.

Good morning!

Heather, glad you had a nice trip...hopefully you both will get over the colds soon.

Beautiful quilts, Joanna!

Imke, you lucky duck! I think I have always won images, except for once I did win a lovely assortment of flowers which I never got...bummer!

Susanne, I entered 2 cards in the pink challenge so it was either this one or this one. I won Heather Ellis images; she is the woman who draws the Pure Innocence line from MFT...so that is cool!

Sometimes you don't win a prize, but you get a "Top 3" or "Poodles Pick" which is even cooler...that means someone liked your entry! I go to Feline Playful every day to check out the new challenges, then try to incorporate them into what I'm making.

What is everybody doing today? I will be working on my scrapbook pages...I finally got the pictures I ordered, but was disappointed because they are dark (which did nothing for the bags under my eyes!).

Have a great day everybody!

Imke - Congrats. Always fun to win.

Joanna - I love your quilts.

Angela - Where in the world do you find the time to participate in all those challenges? Love both of your pink cards.

I am busy trying to make a Christmas tray with the words CHRISTMAS and each letter will coordinate with a theme (c-Candle, H-Home, etc.) It is very time consuming and I need to have it done by this weekend. Busy, busy, busy.

Susanne - I am coming over for those cookies. Yummy. We are having a cookie contest at work and I think I will make my cranberry white chocolate cookies. Just hope I can find my recipe.

Tracie, usually the cards I make are for DT assignments...I do try to incorporate some of the current challenges though. Today I made a card just for fun! I like the sketch challenge here so I played along...I think my favorite thing to make is Halloween cards!

Susanne, I forgot to answer you about Paisley.... We talked it over with the vet and we are going to let her have a litter of puppies in a year or so. Our friend/neighbor a couple blocks down the street wants one. Also, there's a guy who always walks his daughter by (she's in a stroller...little gal) and they stop and pet/talk to Paisley. DH talks to him sometimes...he used to have a dog and wants to get one some day. I am always impressed when I see him because he is so good with the little gal Autumn...so patient and kind...I don't see a lot of Dads like him. If he doesn't have a dog by then, we will offer one to him as well. I think it will be a cool experience for the kids...I'm just hoping they understand we can't keep one! LOL

Time to get some supper....

Tracie--when you do find it--share the recipe...cranberry white chocolate sounds interesting!
