Good Morning--I have accomplished a bit already today--finished packing for the trip--except for the food, cut the grass and weedwacked, set up the timer and sprinklers on the two vegetable gardens---so now I am checking in here. Pat from Colorado, one of our friends going on the trip will be here this afternoon and Deb, with the Suburban we are taking is coming tomorrow around 5:00. We will pack everything then and hope everything fits--4 bikes on the back, camping gear for four along with personal items for 9 days. The plan is to head out Saturday morning.

Good Morning from Manistique, Michigan.
The biking vacation has been good so far--two nights camping and the ladies are on their second day of biking. The weather has been great for biking and also for sleeping--though there is a possible thunderstorm this afternoon.
First campsite was in Escanaba and we were pretty much alone in the back of the park--but trains were by all night long. I also decided that I needed a real pillow and an air mattress if I was going to get any sleep at all--so as they headed out to ride, I went shoping. Got the groceries needed for supper last night as well as tonight and got an air mattress and pillow at Wal-mart!
Sleeping last night was better, however the party site across from us did not head to bed until close to 2 am! The ladies are on their way to our third night at a rustic campground right along Lake Michigan; I got needed supplies, stopped at Hardees to use their Wi-Fi and I am headed out to check on them along the way--I will try to check each day around 2-2 1/2 hours into the trip.
Tomorrow night we are in a hotel in St. Ignace, so I will check in then. Have a great Labor Day!

Checking in from St. Ignace--we got our first rain of the trip and it stormed hard for about 2 hours last night before we made supper. We have a canopy--Wisconsin Badgers in fact--that we put over half of the picnic table and still could use the stove on the end. The tents did well and we were not wet!
We have a hotel stay tonight and are also meeting some friends for out for supper. Trip to Mackinac Island on the ferry tomorrow and the plan is to take all four bikes over--however the report is 70% chance of rain, so that may change. Then. driving to our next campsite--Wilderness State Park.
I received my cards yesterday. (They may have arrived Saturday, but my hubby & I were out of town for the Labor Day weekend). Very nice work everyone! Thanks for hosting, Barb.
Be safe on your trip!

Hello from the Quaality Inn in Traverse City? We got rain early this morning while sleeping and we saw a bit of a lull in the rain on the phone, so we packed up at 5 a.m................. On the road by 6 and found a Big Boy for breakfast. Headed south to TC, and it stopped raining about a half hour in. The riders got out and I drove to the hotel and was able to check in early. Got a shower and the ladies got here a bit ago. It is raining again, but we are going to check out the stores.
I am not sure when I will be back online--may not be until we got home!

Good Morning--Happy Saturday Morning from Traverse City. It is raining a bit this morning, but the bikers headed out from the hotel a bit ago. We are planning to meet in a couple of hours in Sutton Bay.
The plan right now is to stay in Leelanau State Park, which is on the tip of the thumb of Michigan. I think it is to rain on and off all day, so we'll see what the weather is like when we get there and decide if we want to still camp or try to find an "indoor place". Tomorrow night we are staying at a campground in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park--that is supposed to be a beautiful place to see and explore.
Monday is the last day of biking and then we head to Muskegon in the car to the ferry to take over Lake Michigan to Milwaukee and then home!
