Extra Cards for Ronald McDonald House! 4+2 Due September 25th

I sponsor the Ronald McDonald House in Little Rock, Arkansas and have been for quite a while now. I took cards in last week and they were so glad to get the cards. For the first time since I have been supplying their cards (with everyone's help) they had run out.
I just feel awful, but after being laid up for 7 weeks with a broken leg and then playing catch up in the beauty shop, I have let them down. So I am sending out an appeal to anyone reading this to join me in helping restock this house.

I am asking you to go through your stash, pick out 6 cards, mail them to me and you will receive 4 back. The +2 will go to the house. Be sure to enclose a return envelope with enough postage to return 4 cards to you.

I will swap them out the 25th of September, so please make this an urgent priority. Be the first to sign up and receive a gift with your return cards. God Bless you for your help.

Yes Kim, they use any and all cards. It doesn't matter what the theme is, I generally, send more thank you, thinking of you, get well, and birthday cards. Now I am doing holiday cards, so a mix of any theme will be appreciated, and I will donate them all. Thanks so much, Have a blessed day, Martha

You are all such amazing ladies!!!!

Forest Ranger 08-29-2013 07:41 PM

Martha, I am going to go through my stash and find some cards for you, too... no need to send me any in return.

I really appreciate Ronald McDonald House - stayed in one many many years ago when our Brock was young and needing some testing. Great organization!

mybugandi45 08-29-2013 10:56 PM

Hi
Put me down for three spots and I will donate them all.
Can you please tell me what theme or sentiment is needed most if there is one. Thanks for the PM!

Thanks Jeanette, got you down.
Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in my heart. March 10th, 1944, two little boys were born, weighing less than 5 lbs combined weight.
They were taken to Children's Hospital and one spent 6 weeks there and the other one spent 8 weeks there. Back then there was no place for their mom to stay and she had 5 other children at home. Today, those people who are going through things have a place they can stay and it is called Ronald McDonald House. One of these two little boys is my husband of 44 years. Thank you Children's Hospital, even though I don't have money to give to Children's Hospital what they mean to me, I can give to the house and add a little sunshine to the lives of those staying there during a not so sunny time in their lives.

They so appreciate any theme card. I generally take in more thank you, thinking of you, and birthday cards. Get well cards are great too. A lot of the time, I leave the insides blank so they can just write out what they are thinking. It helps to have the cards there so they don't have to go out and buy cards. I package them with the envies in a sleeve and if I have stamped inside, I put a sticky note on the back with what the inside says so they stay cleaner and more sanitary. Thank you so much for your help. Martha

A bank robbery suspect trying to elude police searching for him in an apartment building jumped into a garbage chute and survived a 200-foot fall into trash in the basement. The 26-year-old man plunged from the 21st floor of the apartment complex located a few blocks from the bank he had robbed earlier.

He was conscious and told police he had climbed into the garbage chute to avoid being captured. Police estimate he fell about 210 feet before landing on garbage in a compactor at the bottom. He was able to slow himself down by holding the sides of chute, and the garbage may have cushioned the fall, but he did get severe injuries. Firefighters moved the compactor and removed the man from the chute.

Police said the man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash after robbing the bank. After detectives learned he was seen entering a nearby apartment building, they began searching the building. That's when a maintenance worker told them he could hear someone calling for help from a garbage chute in the basement. When the officers checked it out, they found the man trapped in the compactor. He had some of the bank's money on him.

He is under police guard at the hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, and will be charged with robbery when his condition improves.

A Phoenix couple tried to trade their food stamps to grocery shoppers in exchange for drugs, police say. Perhaps the drug use has done a number on couple's brains, but people don't usually carry bags of drugs while grocery shopping. Thus, they were unsuccessful in making any transactions.

Hi Martha,
This may be a repeat since I tried to send this last night via PM but there is not record of it in my 'Sent' file.

I got carried away yesterday making some of these cards for my some-day MIL and am curious if these would be acceptable for the RMc House. The insides are blank so they could say 'Hello' on the outside and possibly, 'just wanted to grab you attention to wish you a Happy Birthday'? or something along those lines.

Please let me know if you think these would work? Thanks

These would be wonderful. I leave a lot of mine blank inside, and that gives them room to send a special message.
Thanks, Martha

The manager of a grocery store took a rotisserie chicken to the face while chasing a theft suspect. The alleged thief ran out of the store after grabbing a rotisserie chicken and a four-pack of booze, but the manager followed him.

The chicken thief confronted the manager, telling him he would beat him up if he kept following him and then took off his belt and swung it around near the manager.

The manager just kept following him, so the thief chucked the chicken right at the manager's face. He then tried to run to a nearby gas station, but he ran into police officers there and was arrested.
