FOILED CARD EXAMPLES USING KITCHEN ALUMININ FOIL! THE FOIL WORKS BEAUTIFULLY WHEN EMBOSSED! cuts easy and can be stained with distress inks or alcohol inks. great men cards! on the card with ship the ship is an embossing folder in cuttlebug!

EXAMPLES OF DOLLIES CARDS. so much can be done with dollies you can stain them with distressed inks, they come in all sizes and are very cheap!!!! even the dollar stores carry a great selection. packages usually have couple dozen dollies so make some for you!

PICTURES OF QUILTED CARDS (I love these cards seem very popular) use up all your scraps!!!!!
my favorite I can remenber granny having quilt parties where they would put it on a frame and use embroidery thread to tie a bow in each cornor of every piece sometimes hundreds of little squares! embellishments are mostly threads, twine, ribbons and buttons. I like adding a sentiment do a google search for quilt cards there are thousands!!!! every shape and color combo one could think of on a card. let your imagination run wild for patterns!!

notice you can emboss the pieces for texture, the first pic is 4 pattern papers in another swap where they created 6 cards she color cordinated and went to work! all very beautiful yet differnt you can shade them with chalks and shapes are unlimited, i've seen honeycombs, squares, circles, ovals, and every shape! the last 2 are quilted 1/2 way and connected by little clothspins to a matching picture!!! how beautiful

I have made lots of quilt tops and quilted some. I have been teaching a quilting class. My Mother and Grandmother would quilt when I was little and I would sit under the quilting frames and play.

ok next!!!! who can swap with us on some beautiful cards you've got 3 options and 1 id s new technique (need brave sould on that one) a second option requires plenty of scrap paper and eye for pattern & color (is that you?) and one option uses a everyday item that makes a beautiful card add ribbon & flower and WOW!!!!!

PLEASE TRY AN OPTION for the New Year long time to deadline so plenty of work time!!!!

Looking for swappers??? see examples not hard at all

I did learn one thing to pass on if doing foil fold the piece into size the additional folded foil lends to the thickness and makes a greater emboss! been playing with emboss folders really like this look a lot! anyone else try the foil and any tips to pass onto us?

dollar store had cutest little heart dollies package of 32 only $1 very nicely cut! gonna make some easter cards with them

yea! try it just make the piece you emboss several layers (2 or 3) thick it works so much better and seems to weld the foil together. I used some distress stain on a piece I had embossed and it looked just like a rusted piece of metal. I statred think what a great roof or tool this would make and I'm wondering if I can find a fence die cut as it would be aewsome used for a fence,

I'm going to give this a try.
Please put me down, 1 for each group.

A "Full Size Card" is an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet cut in half and folded?

Sometimes I'm slow,
Sometimes I'm fast,
But just to make sure,
It's better to ask

Peaceful,

I am glad to hear this about the foil. So 2 or 3 layers will do better than just 1.

Thank you for joining and most of all for trying something new!!! thats how we grow as crafters and artists the "foil" is new for me!!! so I certainly understand (nervous) but it turned out to be a lot of fun and now I'm trying to find ways to make it even better, Foil I believe is great for "guy" themed cards or roofs on houses when I grew up it was on a farm in VA and our farm house had aluminin roof (loved it when rain fell) so it reminds me of that look.

Hi Linda!
Thanks for the welcome. I've been busy doing grandma duty when DD needs me. My daughter is married, working full time and going back to school. So I help out with daycare when she needs some study/homework time. I love the snuggles with DGD, but miss the crafting too, when I'm out of town!

I haven't tried the paper quilting (or real for that matter!) or the foil, so am looking forward to trying those. And I love doilies, so that was a given to sign up for. I wonder if foil will hold ink to color it or distress it with color in some way? Anyway, your swaps sound like a good challenge and I'm ready to hunt down some ideas! Thanks for sharing the wonderful examples!

yes the distress inks work on foil! you can give them an aged look with green shades or a tarnish look with yellow/oranges and a black if embossed gives it a wildly different look. just paly around but I did find folded works best with embossed. so if you want a 4x6 piece cut twice that size and fold it back and the more you layered the better the emboss it seems to deepen it. quiltingt isn't totally new to me I made one last year for a ladies birthday who was a quilter by trade over 50 yrs!!! talk about feeling nervous about the design (I was) but I discovered amost any size or piece will work biggest decision is the color combo. Remember these d o not have to be alike just for that reason. I did same thing for my daughter 3 yrs ago 2 grandkids 2 & 4 and she needed a fulltime person living in to help so I moved for 10 months to help out. I was so tired at end of each day, it had been yrs since mine were small.

DISCOVERY!!!!! I was emptying my cornor cutter and discover those pieces fit into a piece of paper beautifully so on my inch squares I started randomily gluing down some of them on squares and wow they make nice highlight to those squares or strips on the quilted cards!!!!

also discovered with a mini glue dot I was able to use the holes from my hole punch for a raised or 3D look so don't throw anything away (lol) like I rarely do anyway so on a solid paper the hole punch dots add a nice look the tiny mini glue dot comes with like 500 in box for about $3 at michaels & joannes I find them useful in everything, so good investment

for the quilted cards I started with a 4x6 piece paper then started cutting and angling pieces onto it then after all done just trimmed around the 4x6 BASE paper and it was done them I glued that onto the cardstock for the card itself. placing a few mini buttons or tiny bric brac looks good and threads tied into the cornor piece also look great its like the old tac quilts from the south! (my grandmother & mothers time)

If you wanted to place thread or embroidery string in some cornors best to do before you put the 4x6 base onto card. Just thought this might help. PLEASE if you find helpful hints share them as most of us are stretching and growing on at least one technique if not 2 in this swap!!!!!! we will be quite a educated group!

well thank! you wish I could take all the credit but my grand children and daughter in law are huge in-putters with great idea's they atttend all kinds of arts & crafts show/sales and are always asking me can you do that? so I try and I figure if I'm trying maybe I can find company to try with me!!!! that's where all you wonderful swappers come in plus I'm a visual learner so if I do mess it up someone in the group would have got it and I can see what I did wrong!!!!!

I appreciate your swapping with me we've been through quite a few swaps together now. when you think your move will be?

ladies with the aluminin foil the card just needs an item of it on the card so a small tub/sink, tools, roof, anything of metal will work it cuts nice! so shaping, embossing are easy the more I've played with it the more I've liked it something totally new to me so now I'm wondering what else in the kitchen is being used for crafts (lol) I've been sitting on resources all this time and didn't know it.

Edna inspector shouldn't be long, take care in moving will you be close to your son?

Got my 1st ever quilted card done!!!! I'll try to get a picture very soon. wasn't as hard as I thought it would be reminded me of building a puzzle!!!!! eventually all the scraps just fit together. now I'll stamp a sentiment and back it to cardstock and pop dot it on front and it is complete. looking for a generic sentiment
