Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
We all started somewhere. Remember your first few cards? Were you terrified to show them to anyone? Here is a chance to toss your fear to the wind and share your artistry!
This swap is intended for folks who are new to card making and new to swaps. How new is new? That's up to you!
Here's how it works. Feel free to print this out for later reference.
Reply to this posting so I can add you to the list of participants. If you sign up for more than 1 spot, you will need to make a second set of cards that are different than your first set.
Mark your calendar so that you don't miss the deadline and have plenty of time to make your creations without feeling rushed at the last minute. If life happens (which we all know it does!) and you can't meet your commitment, please drop me a private email to let me know.
Make 6 cards (for each spot for which you signed up) using good quality supplies, not cheap cardstock from the dollar bin. There are no specific vendor requirements for this swap. Most folks make all the cards look identical because they are often easier to mass produce, but that's not a requirement for this swap. Remember, if you sign up for more than 1 spot, you need to make a different set of cards for your second spot.
Cards should have at least 2 layers (or more if you like) and some kind of embellishment (buttons, ribbon, brads, bling, etc.)
Make cards for any reason - holidays, thank you, birthday, anniversary, etc.
Do your best work - straight clean cuts, neatly aligned layers, clean images, etc.
Put your name on the back so we can appreciate your artistry and craftsmanship! If you want to include a business card or list of supplies that go with each card, you are welcome to do that.
Put 5 of your cards (that way you get to keep one of your own) into a re-sealable plastic baggie to protect them from wet weather. Include a slip of paper inside with your real name and SCA name and the hostess' address just in case the post office destroys the outer envelope and the contents fall out. Don't laugh - it happens! If you make more than 1 set of cards, it's easier on the hostess if you put them in separate plastic baggies.
Self-address an additional empty envelope and add postage so that I can mail swaps back to you. THERE'S A CATCH - the post office wants you to use real stamps, not a white metered strip with a date on it. Some folks go ahead and put the stamps on the envelope, others just put a bunch of stamps in the baggie with the cards and the hostess can figure out how to much to put on the envelope and return the unused stamps to you.
Put the cards in the baggie, the additional self-addressed envelope and stamps all together and mail to me NO LATER THAN OCT 31, 2012. Most mail takes 4-5 days to get to my house if it's sent first class. I will mail back the swaps to you between November 7-8.
Some participants will include a little 'thank you' gift for the hostess. It's nice etiquette, but it is not required for this swap. Your participation and on-time delivery is thanks enough for me!
