HI Janet!!! Never got stationed there, but after DH retired, he got a job in Virginia Beach. But we got to live in: Vallejo, CA; Idaho Falls, ID; Charleston, SC; Groton, CT; San Diego, CA; and lastly, Kings Bay, GA. Then he retired and we went to Virginia Beach, VA; Byron, IL; and now we're back in IA - where we started.
Where I live (in Newport News, VA) we have Army, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, Air Force - all branches of the Armed Service around us. I've always lived here, so I've been raised with a large military community.
My DH works Civil Service, and he was with the Army when his workplace got BRAC (Base Realignment & Closure) - but due to our parent's health, we couldn't move to St. Louis, MO. Now, he works with the Navy (Civil Service).

Oh no Kristyn....I have a horrible confession.....I just saw your package in the back seat of the car last night! UGH!!!! I thought we had sent it and guess not....so I promise-promise-promise that it will be postal on Saturday! UGH - I'm such a flake!!!!!
Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't sent out the June addresses yet. I think I have them saved on the laptop that got infected. It is supposed to be cured, but I have been afraid to try looking for anything on it yet. I will look tonight and see if I can find the address list I had created for this swap. Otherwise, I have PM'ed our June recipiants and asked them to please send their addies to me.

Laura what did you think when you lived in Groton, CT?
CT is quite small/quiet compared to places you've been. I've lived here my entire life so I find other places fascinating!
HI!!!! Well, it was bittersweet being stationed in Groton. DH's were gone 78 percent of a 2 yr. time frame; but we had just the coolest wives club and we kept ourselves entertained best we could!!! We took a powder puff mechanics class --- it was kinda fun, esp when i found bits and pieces of car stuffs and boxed them off to my own DH and asked if they really needed to be in the car......lolol and one time we all got together, with kids, and video taped all of us singing an Elton John song. And a bunch of us went to see THE Plymouth Rock. Another fun thing we did was put together a recipe book - one of the guys designed the cover: feeding the hungry Shark (they were on the USS Shark)
it was a pretty place to be. Oh - we were there (we as in the kids and I) when hurricane Gloria came thru. UGH!!!!
With HUGE apologies to the intended receipiants.....my June kits for group 1 and group 2 will go postal tomorrow....not really an excuse but with the number of camps I have been helping with/attending as instructor,,,they just didn't get mailed yet.
