....."but a friend called and needed help taking a tree limb out of her son's head before she submitted the photo to the newspaper for the engagment announcement."

That has got to be one of the cutest lines I've read today. thanks for the giggle

Good morning all!
I can't sleep. It is 3:29 a.m. here. Ugh! I am working in the Open Class today at the County Fair. Then tonight I help serve the Community Supper there.
Have a good day!

Pansy - you had quite a day! Hope you can stamp today. I made 2 cards and an altered notebook yesterday. I am entering it and 7 sets of cards (2 in each set) in the county fair.

Good Morning Forest Friends!

I poofed yesterday - spent a little time finishing something I was creating, froze some peppers (still have more to do today), ran an errand, researched for a conference I'm leading, phone calls and such... then had a meeting at a nearby town. When I got home from it, DH and I hung out a bit and I chatted with DD long distance. Then I was too tired to come to the comuter, so I crashed in bed.

Linda - WOW! You have been busy! I will PM you back in a bit. I'm sorry you've been dealing with so much discomfort!

Dani, I totally agree!

Tami, it's sure good to see you!

Judy, I'm sorry to hear your DH needs to have knee surgery. Will pray it goes well and the results are incredible!

Michelle, I hope you and Bekah can go back to Mt. Rushmore... it's so cool! Oh........ that makes me wonder.......... have any of you been to nearby (to Rushmore) Wall Drug? It was such a hoot living in Wall when I was a kid. I actually had a boy in my class who's parents were part owners of the world-reknowned Wall Drug. His claim to fame, though, was he had all the chewing gum he could want and our teacher didn't allow chewing gum...... so when he thought he was getting caught he'd just swallow it. EeeeeeeeWWW!!! Rumors were (unfounded, I'm sure) that he would not live to be an old man because of the vast amount of undigestable chewing gum he'd swallowed in his young life.

Barb, it's good to see you - I might need to - - - - (dash) over to pester you in your snow swap some today.

Heidi, I have a few Jessica Lynn stamps that haven't seen ink in quite a while. I really should do something about that. LOL!

LJ, there's nothing quite like a good bed. I hope you'll sleep well when you get yours!

Linda, I'm glad your dad did well with his surgery!

Pansy, oh my! What a day you had!!! I hope today is good and you find time to play with your new toys! I must ask....... what is your "favorite spot"? Have I been there? If not, why didn't you tell me sooner??? LOL! Let's see............ I've been to the fabulous Mexican restaurant downtown (many times! DD loves Mexican food!!!), the coffee house downtown, Thai (near the airport side of town, I think), Pizza Hut, Golden Corral, the restaurant out across from Walmart (can't remember which chain it is), IHOP, most of the fast food places (LOL!), the place that claims to have the best pie in town, another Mexican restaurant not too far from the pie place, hmmmmmmmmm... I'm sure others, but I'm drawing a blank!

Joyce, that line WAS a hoot, wasn't it?

_pr_l, _t's g__d t_ s__ y__! (Translated: April, it's good to see you!) See how difficult it is to not have ANY vowels at all!?!?!?

Mae, I hope you rested well!

Roxane, I'm sorry you had a sleepless night. Have fun at the fair today! And good luck with your entries!

Terri, I'll check my PM box and see what you have to say.

Janet, thanks for our morning coffee!

Hope I didn't miss anyone (I made notes today - didn't trust my memory).

Hugs for all!!!

G'morning my dear and lovely forest friends. I hope everyone enjoys their day. Judy, I will keep both you and your dh in my prayers. Pansy, I know how that feels, to have a day where you just want "me" time. I am at the point in my life where I now tell people unless it's an emergency today is a "me" day so come and see me tomorrow. I had to I was getting so stressed from everyone else's wants and needs that I was forgetting about my own. I do hope you get into your stamping room today. LJ, I had to chuckle when I seen that you are getting a new bed. My dh and I went thru 3 of them before we finally agreed on one. First he bought a sleep number. Well it would have been fine, except sometimes during the night it would deflat or inflat on its own. Thus when you woke up in the morning you were a hurtin puppy. Then we went to memory foam. That was horrible on my back. It was much too hard. My dh tried to convince me that it's just that I am too thin and I couldn't make the mattress form to my body. Then we went to a pillow top and that is where we stayed. So now my friend that lives with me gets to sleep in a sleep number, which she loves and my guests get to sleep on memory foam. So at least they didn't get wasted. lol...I hope you find one quicker than we did. It will be much more cost efficient if you do. lol...kwim? Well ladies, I do hope everyone has a great day. Oh Janet...love love love the inhaler.

Hi Dani.... you sound like my parents. They kept searching for perfect beds.......... in their case, they returned them, which I thought was horrible. What does a store do with returned mattresses, anyway???????

Jeanette - I think some mattresses are donated to shelters / group homes.

And my DH & I have a Sealy Posturepedic mattress that we've used for 18 years. It's done so well, but think it's on it's last "spring"! LOL!!
Will probably get another one of these. Works SO very well, & Terry has some back problems.

Some stores even send them in to be recovered.

I'm sure that's true.... I worked as the manager of stock control in a large furniture store years ago....... it was in Missouri. At that time, it was against the law to sell used mattresses so we couldn't take returns on them. One of the sets of mattresses my parents purchased, they got from that same store. Yet they were able to return them, so I'm thinking Missouri laws must have changed.

When I worked with the Community Service Board as RN for a Group Home, I had to wear a phone that was donated to us from Verizon. I think it was "2nd hand" (had been used) & when returned to Verizon was fixed & then given to us.
I see many places asking for used phones that will be fixed & donated to shelters for Abused Women or to servicemen who are going overseas.

Seems like several places do donations with "used" things. Even the Lions club has places where you can donate used eyeglasses (have done that for a LONG time).

True - it is different!
Wonder what they do with the mattresses they have on display in the stores? Are they sold cheaper since they are used for people to "test" them? Or are they donated?

Our furniture store kept it on display until it was discontinued... then we sold it at a huge savings. (It could be sold, since it was not pre-owned.) But we made sure the customers knew it was the floor sample.

Hi Jeanette: well, after saying for several years I would never eat there....the CAFE that is in conjunction with the local nursery/garden store/pet store..... They have a fabulous cook/chef and loads of heart healthy food items plus it is not slapped together....the other best part,,,they deliver for free. So I ordered from them last night....You need to come back to GC and try out the Lao restaurant that opened last fall, the one across from Walmart would have been Applebees or A and W...the A and W folded its tents and left town in the quiet of the night about a year ago....literally......and it is being replaced by a Freddy's steakburger. Also have a new burger joint in the "MALL" called Mooyah's...wasn't impressed when I took the grands there..... and one Mexican food place was finally shut down by health inspectors,,,another is moving sites, and did you try Napoli's out AT the airport???? They have good authentic Italian.

and yes Michelle, I was taken to Mt. Rushmore as a child...remember it well but do want to go back now.

It was Applebee's... we never went to the A & W. Interesting how they left abruptly. We always talked about the Italian place at the air port, but never made it there. Ran out of time. I'm not familiar with the one you ordered delivery from.....how did I miss that??? Is Freddy's a chain? I'm not familiar with that name. Oh..... what is the Kansas (chain type) restaurant that sells the burgers and ice cream? We went to one in Wichita years ago... loved it! There isn't one in GC. Please tell me the Mexican place that was closed down wasn't the one downstairs in the downtown area. That's the one we went to most often. I liked it!

We have a Sealy posture-pedic, too! Love it!!! Have had it about 14 or 15 years and it is still in great shape!

DD (with all her serious back problems) bought a posture-pedic when she got her bed three years ago. It is great, too!!!

I highly recommend them!

Jeanette--does that mean we get prizes on Friday if we chat in the forest?

I too had a Sealy for about 14 years--it was great.

Barb, I want to get inky, too...... alas, I must go to the store and PO, work on laundry, freeze peppers.............. I'd much rather play with ink.

I'm thinking of moving my crafting downstairs, my basement is unfinished but there is lots of room. The only draw back is that it gets cold down there in the winter.

Couldn't you have the heating unit fixed so that the heat is directed into the room you did crafting in??

Michelle--my craft room is in the basement and even though it is finished, we do not have the vents open for heat or AC. I have a small heater I use in the winter--it is a ceramic heater. I cannot find the exact one, but here is a Target link of a few. pretyy inexpensive and it works great for me in the winter.

heaters, home appliances, home : Target
