Hello my Darling Friends!
Had myself a little splurge yesterday. There was a scrapbooking convention up in Manchester and yours truly went to the vendor fair.
Holy cow, I blew by my self-imposed budget in the first half hour. So many vendors that I've never seen IRL, only online. So I tend to hesitate buying online until I know the quality by seeing it first hand.
I bought some stamps from RubberNecker, Art Impressions, Kitty Kits "Cause a Scene" and others. Made a serious paper haul: about $90 worth of paper for $50. Fun goodies from Eyelett Outlett (love that place. they had a 10 year old girl demonstrating their new line of eyeletts-no pounding to set them!) And there were some new embossing folders calling my name.
But - drumroll, please - the really big news is....
I bought 4 sets of Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, plus the blender, and two sets for shading. 114 markers for - wait for it - $249. Loads less than Copics. I'd been reading about these markers online and heard great things so once I tried them at the show it was all downhill from there (a rather quick ride downhill I must admit!)
These have a broad chisel tip and a fine point tip, the nibs are replaceable and the markers are refillable. Today I plan to break them open and give them a try.
LJ, have fun car shopping. Great idea to look when no sales reps are there to get in the way. Plenty of time to get their input once you've settled on a couple of choices. Good luck!

Quite the haul.........No need to worry Darlene, you are not the first to break the self-imposed budget at a craft show..... LOL! Great deal on the markers, have heard good things about them. My collection is still about 80% prismacolors.

Oh Sweet P! I so hope you and your family has a wonderful day with your dad.
I usually get to sleep in on Sundays, but was up early today. We recently "aquired" two new puppies from my sister (who I think knowingly knew EXACTLY what she was doing when she brought the litter over here to "visit") a couple of weekends ago. Anyways, they woke me up bright and early this morning to go take care of business. They are 1/2 basset hound, 1/4 lab and 1/4 terrier... and the cutest most loveable little things. Mine is Sola Belle and not be outdone, Ray (dh) had to have one too and named his Taz.
Anyways, I attached pics so you could see the little rugrats... ol
Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday!

Great score Darlene. Let me know what you think of the markers.
Have fun LJ. Just wanted to say the last five cars we have bought have been Toyotas and have been really pleased with them. Seem very dependable, don't end up at the shop with them needing to be fixed. And after DD totalled my Highlander and walked away with just bumps and bruises, I am completely sold on their safety rating.
Cute puppies Jamie. We are getting one as soon as I am back to part-time and the kids are out of school.

Another thing about the Toyota, they hold their value. We put a large down payment on the Highlander, after it was wrecked and they totalled it...we got almost the entire amount back. It was unbelievable how much it retained it's value. Have fun another day.

I looked online at the highlander, it's a little above my price range ($18-20K) but if I could get a DEAL......it might work......
I'm looking for a DEAL. I'll be telling the dealer I'm shooting for much less than I am really willing to spend.
And I'm going to be putting down a sizable down-payment. Maybe $10K or a little more. I want my monthly payment to be less than $200/month.
Just doing a quick check in. Expecting my sister Donna and her DH to be here any minute. Haven't seen her since last summer just before we came home from WA.
Darlene, it sounds like you hit a treasure trove at the scrapbooking convention. Have fun!!
LJ, hope you find just the right car at just the right price!
Hi everyone! My sis and her DH just left. Was so good to spend time with them. Haven't seen them in almost 9 months. We served them an earlier dinner of Pork Loin Roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade applesauce, green beans and Caesar salad. I think they enjoyed it.
Heading out in a few to do a little shopping.
Jamie, the new additions to your family are so cute! TFS the pix!!

Oh Jamie! They are so cute. Sola, is cute as a button. Taz, has the best eyebrows! Thanks, for putting up some pixs.

Hope you had a good weekend--today we planted 20 small pine trees, I planted 4 baskets for the deck, went for a hike in the state forest, cooked Italian Sausages on the grill and made the first potato salad for the summer.
Also, a quick shout out--I just posted a new Whipper Snapper and Penny Black Swap--the Theme is Animals!
I'm looking at new only. We just got back. Stopped at a few places.
The one I am loving is the Kia Soul. They start around $16K, but we found one with just about every option for $20K.
LJ, my friend just bought her daughter a new Kia Soul and she ♥s it. Our other friend's son really liked it too, but thought it was too girly for him......translation, perfect for you!
You can also negotiate with the dealer at times to try the car for 24 hours. We have done that in the past. It allows you to take it home, drive it a bit and see if it is really the car for you. They should be willing to do so, without any payment or commitment to buy. Dealerships are fully insured, so they are out nothing.
If you do not feel comfortable with 24 hours, tell them you would like to take it for a few hours and do the same without a sales person 'in your ear', drive it around, make sure there are no awkward blindspots for you, if you are going to be taking many people around take the car to them and have them sit in it and see if they are comfortable, you know, all those little things that people settle on that they really do not like after the fact.
Try peeking at edmonds.com. They have great car reviews and good pricing guidelines. Here is the page for the Kia Soul.

Gee, too bad you were a total slouch today! LOL Wow, that was a lot you got done! Yummy potato salad......
Hi gals, quick check in here before hitting the sack with a book.
Carol, I need a lesson with the blender pen---how's it supposed to work? LOL
The caps on the markers are tough to unclick (open up) and also hard to reclick (close) Like my technical jargon? Like Tami and the "3 and two ticks" - I was actually saying that today when I measured some paper to cut...
But I love the markers, just need practice.
LJ, I've heard great things about that KIA. fingers crossed for you.
So exciting to buy a new car, just wish I could get one without the shopping experience. I'm with Jamie, except shopping for a car is my third least fav thing to do.
Sweet P: I sure hope that today's birthday celebration for your Dear Dad is wonderful!!
Barb: my shoulders hurt just reading about all of your planting. LOL. you go girl!
Joan: Miss you. {Hugs}
Judy: Mmmmmm, homemade applesauce. Are you kidding me? Yum! Glad that you had a good time with your family!
Jamie: Those puppies are too adorable for words. Now wonder you and DH fell head-over-heels. You are gonna have your hands full!
Debbie: I've heard nothing but good over the years about Toyotas. I think you are right on the mark with that.
Waving to April, Kelly, Terry & Melina! Hope that you all had a great weekend and that the coming week is an easy one for each of you.
