Thought I would check in.
I passed beyond the "funk" I've been in for almost a week but now I've not been feeling very well physically. Right now I have a BIG, BAD headache. I don't think the computer screen is helping much. I'm going to lie down.
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Well, tomorrow is the big day...I'm scheduled for carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand at 8 am. Both hands have been really bad today. Cleaning the house hasn't helped, but I have to do what I can. My DH is a bit (!) of a slob and my sister is coming in 2 weeks, so I'm hoping some of the clean will last. Between my DH and the 5 cats, you'd think I still had a house full of destructive kids!

I hope to be back on the computer one-handed early next week. If someone can bump us up every once in a while I'd appreciate it.

Have a great weekend ladies,
Tracy

Tracy

Don't worry about the Thread. Someone (me) will bump it up daily!

Think positive thoughts and the surgery will be quick and very successful!

Hi ladies,

I'm back, sort of I can't spend a lot of time online, but I wanted to let Lily know her cards arrived today and they are SO cute. Thank you, Lily. And thanks to Kristi K for your wonderful get well card!

I really appreciate all of the good thoughts and well wishes from all of you. I have one more week with my hand bandaged up, and then hopefully, I can try to do some crafting.

Have a great weekend,
Tracy

Tracy, I've been praying for a full and painless recovery. I'm painting with watercolor images for my cards tonight. I'll sign up for one spot... Did I already do this?

Marilyn,

I don't think you signed up, but you are more than welcome! Thank you for all of the prayers and good wishes you've sent my way. God must be hearing you because my recovery is going very well. I'm anxious to get crafting again, but will be patient and let things take their course.

You didn't say if you wanted to donate your cards or not. I'm afraid there's no one to swap with because everyone donated, but I'd be happy to make cards to send back to you just as soon as I get the ok from my doctor to start working on my cards again. Just let me know.

Thank you again for all of your prayers and good wishes,
Tracy

So glad to hear that your recovery is going so well. Glad you received my cards, it was fun making them for such a good cause. Keep getting better - you'll be 110% before you know it!

Tracy...

You had better be using a typist or dictation to enter these messages!!!!!

Or at least, be typing with only one hand!!!!

If you mess around with the repaired hand, it will take longer to heal completely and correctly (that's what my Mother always told me).

Marilyn,

I received your cards today, they're lovely, Thank YOU! And thank you for the book mark, as well!

Sandra,

Thank you so much for the beautiful Valentine's Day/Get Well card. It was so nice of you. I really have been touched by the cards I've received since my surgery. They really brightened my recovery!

I totally messed up today. I thought Friday was Valentine's Day and the day I finally got the bandage and stitches out. Well, Valentine's way Thursday and I totally missed my appointment. I was itching to wash my hand, so I took the
4+ feet of bandages and then gently removed the yucky gauze layer tonight after I realized my mistake. I gently and carefully washed my hand, cut off the nasty part of the bandage and re-wrapped my hand. I probably shouldn't have, but this all occurred just after we found out my DH lost his job, so I wasn't quite in my right mind. My hand is fine now, and hopefully, in a few hours, I'll be able to rearrange having someone take the stitches out today.

Keep the cards coming, ladies. I really appreciate all you are doing for our soldiers. I have two boxes on my dining room table that I'm filling for friends of my sons. One is in Kuwait and the other in Afghanistan. I wish they would all come home to stay. My son's unit, those who aren't currently in Kuwait, are said to be going to Afghanistan in the Spring. My son is only re-upping for a year, so he won't be eligible to go. I can't say that that fact makes me sad.

Anyway, ave a great weekend,
Tracy

Are you sure, Marilyn? I've already pulled cards to swap with yours and was going to take them to the post office later this week. If your sure you want to swap, I'll send you a note later this week to return the postage you sent.

I got my stitches out yesterday, FINALLY! He injected my palm below two fingers on the right hand to correct trigger fingers. I already had pretty nasty arthritis, but my hands really got messed up by the antibiotic, Levaquin, which I took last summer. It has a history of causing tendon problems, usually in the ankles, but I had taken it many times before with no problems. Halfway through the 14 day dose, my hands swelled and have been a mess ever since. I hope we're finally getting to the end of this!

I can't wait to get back to my craft room, probably tomorrow!

Take care, everyone!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to check in. The cards are coming in slowly and I'm loving them all. If I can get my act together, I'll take photos to show.

We had to put our 16 y.o. cat to sleep today, so it's not one of my better days. She was my son's cat growing up and he wasn't able to make it by to say good bye this morning. I know he's upset. If he had turned her upside down and swung her from her tail (which he would NOT have done) she would have gone right along with him. When he went to Iraq, she would sit outside his door and just howl every night around the time he had been coming home from work prior to deployment. When he came home, she was just a bit too old to live in an apartment with a bunch of guys and two other cats, so she stayed with us. We'll miss her very much.

Stay warm this weekend,

Just checking in on fellow snowed-in Midwesterners. We got about 7" here in the Chicago area. Great day for card making & tortilla soup making -- was able to do both. Keep safe everyone.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I know how you must feel. I've lost several kitties over the years and I still think of them and miss them all the time.

Kari and Valerie,

Your cards are here, thanks. I have a rotten stomach bug, have since Sat. My husband had it to, but he got over it faster...he doesn't have the health issues I do. I'll be back when I feel better.

Tracy... hope you are feeling better.

I need to get off my duff and get my cards out to you.. since my husband deployed it's been pure chaos.. kids sick, oil leak in Armada (I fixed), a teenagers birthday, and so much more it's hard to remember.. it's been a whirlwind. hoping it slows down sometime soon.

I am going to print off your mailing address so that I can get them packed up soon and off in the mail.

blessings ~ Pam

Well, I survived another puke-fest! Not to be gross, but this is becoming a habit with me. I usually have one of these bugs that lasts a week or so every year or so. This is my third in less than a year. Last June, I landed in the hospital for 3 days, so I guess I should consider myself lucky that this adventure only cost one trip to the ER.

But, I'm better now. I haven't been keeping the front page up to date with received cards, but I'll get it caught up over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who has sent cards already. I can't wait to see what's still to come. And thank you, all of you, for making my first swap so much fun and such a success for Operation Write Home! You're the best!

Oh, Good, Grief!!! Tracy - your "guts" just aren't behaving properly. I had a week of something similar (but probably at a much less intensiveness) three weeks ago. Couldn't eat, could barely drink even water, spent lots of time in bathroom (even when I didn't eat anything). Luckily for others, I live alone, so no one else had to suffer through the events.

Take it easy until you are completely back to your old self. You don't want a relapse!

HI everyone,

My address is:

K. Tracy Fabian
210 E Grand St
Nanticoke, PA 18634

Since no one is swapping out cards in this swap, please don't feel pressured to get your cards in the mail immediately. I'll send all of the cards to OWH when I have them. I know this isn't standard operating procedure for swaps, but no one will be waiting on the other end for cards to be returned, so we have some leeway,.

Thanks again to everyone who had participated. You all are GREAT!

I received Pam's cards today - Thanks, PAM! As soon as all the cards are here, I'm going to try and lay them out on my dining room table and get a picture of all of them. I've been storing them in a photo box up til now, but am just about out of room.

Great job, Ladies!

Great job, Ladies!

Marie,
I received your cards today...they great! Thanks so much for participating.

I'm working on prizes and hope to get them out next week. Just a little something to tell you all how much I appreciate all of the great cards you've made for such a very worthy cause.

Thanks to all of you,
