I'm putting off all swap preparations until next weekend!
I am totally over my head with making Christmas treat bags for various places (8 to my doctor's office, 15 to my veterinarian's office, 42 to my favorite restaurant, 12 for my pharmacy & other individuals, 6 for neighbors...did I forget anyone??

It's very early Sunday morning, the first chance I've had to pop in here on SCS. I've finally come to the conclusion that I'm not going to get all of my sewing done, but I have one more pair of pj bottoms and two bibs to finish later today, then I have to clean my house, make chocolate covered pretzels and wrap presents.

Sandra, thanks for donating your cards! Please make sure you pm me your address so I can send you a token of my thanks after the holidays.

I hope all of you are busy doing things you love! Have a wonderful Christmas and I'll be back on Wednesday, should anyone be looking for me.

Tracy!

You have about 24 hours to go. Shouldn't that be enough time to do EVERYTHING???

What a wonderful swap idea! Please sign me up for one spot and donate all my cards. If I get the first set done before Feb 15, I'll sign up for another spot but I'm feeling so overwhelmed right now between Christmas and work that I want to ease into 2013 commitments.

Hi.... sign me up for four spots. Donating all the cards. I will stamp the backs of the cards and have them tucked in envelopes too. I am very familiar with OWH and am excited to join the swap.

My husband will be headed to Afghanistan in about a month.

I am a proud Army wife, daughter, sister (x2) and proud Air Force Mom.

Thanks for hosting the swap.

Blessings~ Pam

Lily and Pam,

Thank you both VERY much! Be sure to pm me your addresses so I can send you a thank you gift.

PAM - Your husband will be in my prayers! My son is waiting to hear if his unit will be going or not. He hasn't decided to re-up (PA Army National Guard) for 6 years or not. Right now, before he can do anything, he has to lose the weight he gained during his wife's pregnancy so he can pass his PT test or it will all be moot! He gained as much as she did, but she's lost all of her weight and more in 7 months. I don't think he's lost much, even after 3 weeks of duty in PA and NYC after Hurricane Sandy. I guess what will be is what will be.

Please let me know if you need anything while your husband is gone and thank you for thinking of other soldiers while yours is getting ready to go away!

Thanks to both of you,
Tracy

Good afternoon everyone! Thought I would check in (check up on the "rules" in post #1) and start gathering some cards to ship off.

Well, there's only 3 1/2 more days left for this year. Better get out there and wrap up all those last minute, year end details!

Thumbs up HAPPY NEW YEARS DAY!!

Gosh! I forgot this was New Years day!

I got up around 9:30 am this morning, had breakfast, took a shower, got dressed and decided to run some errands.

Guess what?? The bank was closed, the library was closed and a business I wanted to stop at was closed....then I figured out it was Tuesday, New Years day!

I went home terribly embarrassed. Good thing nobody noticed.

Thought I would check in. This swap is #3 on my list of swaps to do. Since I'm busy, busy, busy making cards I have been making a couple of extras so I can collect cards for my various (non-theme specific) swaps that are coming up.

I'm also getting a box of cards to go directly to an OWH unit.

Tracy

Just mailed off some cards to you. Went out regular, First Class mail. P.O. says they should be to you on Monday, January 14th.

Gosh, I hope your hands / fingers start to feel better! I have the same two problems with my hands/fingers/wrists!! I know exactly how it feels some days. That's when I take one of my prescription pain pills. It helps with the pain but doesn't help my typing any.

Just wanted to share today's weather broadcast with everyone...
Albany, Oregon, January 12, 2013.

"Think Spring"....you can say that again!

I went out this afternoon, at approximately noon it was 36 degrees. On my way home from my afternoon crafting get-together at 4:30 pm it was 32 degrees! You should have seen the beautiful frost / ice crystals on the trees & grass & weeds at noon. Lovely.

frost-1-12-13-004.jpg frost-1-12-13-005.jpg frost-1-12-13-006.jpg

Here's the frost at my house: lavender, Birch tree, dandelion (everyone's favorite plant).

Absolutely beautiful photos, Sandra. I don't mind looking at them from here in Florida where it might get up to 80 degrees today. But I never want to see snow/frost in person ever again! lol

You wimp!

And, you braggart!

I was almost in Orlando last week for an official event with Stampin' Up! I didn't go because of the cost to fly from Oregon & hotel during this time of year. I suppose you (Floridians) have lots of tourists coming down to warm up.

If you send me your address, I'll ship some frosty weather down to you.

Sorry you didn't get to go to the Stampin Up event. You're right. This is "season" for us. The population of my small town doubles during the winter! Traffic is pretty bad and restaurants are packed every night of the week, but other than that it's all good.

I'm from New York originally so I've seen my share of cold and snow. Never liked it - even as a child. My DD lives in GA north of Atlanta and I always visit her at Christmas even though I have to bring every piece of warm clothing I own. This year I even brought an electric hand warmer! lol

I know most people enjoy winter but I think they're nuts! lol When it gets below 50 degrees here I feel the need to head south til it warms up!

Let me know if you ever come to Fl. I could take you on a tour of SB stores!

I'm not a fan of winter anymore, tho I will say I enjoyed our white Christmas this year. I used to enjoy the four seasons, but between my Sjogren's Syndrome, an autoimmune disease like lupus that causes joint pain, my back that's fused for the last three levels to my pelvis, fibromyalgia and arthritis, I prefer 65 -75 degree days and 45-55 degree nights. I could live in an area that just had Spring and Fall and be very happy! It's been warmer here in NE PA than usual, 40's during the day and 20's - 30's at night, but my body thinks it's about 12 below and is aching up a storm! My hands have never been this bad - I can't make a fist with either one today, they're too stiff and painful.

Grump, grump, grump! I'm very grumpy today, but I go for the first of two infusions I get every 6 months for my Sjogren's tomorrow, and am praying that will start to turn this old body toward better days. I want to be up in my craft room working on cards tonight, but that's not gonna happen.

Sorry to be so grumpy. Better days are ahead!

Don't get me wrong, I really DON"T like cold weather. I put up with it here in Oregon but I would much rather have the temps between 50 to (maybe) a high of 75. Extremes are just not my thing.

It's OK to be grumpy. I (we) won't hold it against you.
I've been having problems with the arthritis in my hands lately too. I woke up this morning and my little finger & ring finger on my right hand were numb. They've been that way all day. Don't know what's going on with it. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I, too, want to go to my crafting space and make some cards.

I've had to retype several portions of this email a couple of times. The fingers have little minds of their own tonight.

Sandra-

I received your cards today - THANK YOU, they're really great! And thanks for stamping them with OWH!

I hear you about fingers having a mind of their own. I'm a professional writer and have been for over 20 years. But I don't dare send even the shortest email without spell checker engaged anymore! Not only do my fingers have a mind of their own, but at times, my Sjogren's affects my coordination and fogs up my brain a bit. I had one Christmas I had to give up sending Christmas cards because there was a disconnect between the address my brain saw in the address book and what my fingers were writing on the envelope. After having to throw out every envelope that came with the cards because there were mistakes on every one, I gave up. Fortunately, it's only ever been as bad as that that one time.

Thank you again for you cards and for participating in my first swap!

Tracy

I am getting ready to send 2-3 boxes of cards & candy to units that Dina (is that the right name??) sent to me right after Christmas.

Now that the holidays are behind me, I'm getting into my card-making & other crafting mode.

I'm glad I finally found my little OWH stamp! Since it was unmounted and smaller that a large postage stamp I couldn't find it for a long time!! I've permanently mounted it to a clear block which I can now easily find.

Sandra,

I did the same thing with mine when I received it. They're small, so I bought one of those little blocks you cam get from G Studio at Michaels or A.C. Moore and wrote on the block with a sharpie that it was OWH, and I've never lost it. (Now watch, when I head up to my craft room in a few minutes, it will be missing!)

Take care,
Tracy

Maybe we should put a 2 foot length of bright colored ribbon on it! No, that won't work for me. The cats will see it and drag it off somewhere!

My cats would do the same thing! Back in the days when foam stamps were so popular, I had one cat that absolutely LOVED to chew on them! She would find one and carry it all over the house. I learned very quickly that, if I really liked a particular foam stamp, I'd better hide it well or it was going to become a cat toy!

Martha, your cards arrived today - they're beautiful! I love the sleeves you put them in and thank you for putting the OWH stamp on the back.

All of the cards I've received to date are fantastic! I've been slowly working on my own contribution and some other swaps, but I saw my doctor yesterday and she said no crafting for a few days until my wrists quiet down or I see the surgeon on Monday. I don't think I'll last that long!

Thanks everyone!
Tracy

NO CRAFTING FOR A FEW DAYS!!! OMGosh!
I don't know how you can stand it! Well, I suppose if it reduces pain & swelling, then it's a good trade-off. [I just take more pain pills - I'm going to ruin my liver if I keep it up. ]

Get better really quick!

Sandra,

IT'S KILLING ME! I thought maybe since I couldn't make cards, I'd sew. I still have some Christmas projects left over to finish plush my kitchen curtains. But handling the iron with these splints on my hands is too hard...and it puts just as much strain on my wrists. Fortunately, Santa brought me a few good books for Christmas, so I'm doing a lot of reading. My cats have managed to make themselves just as lazy as I am. One of my youngest, a 5 y.o. giant ginger cat names Oscar (I have his twin brother who was weighed at the vet last week - 24.4 lbs - they're not fat, they're huge!) wants to lay on my legs on the couch ALL day long. I eventually can move him to the end of the couch, but he doesn't move unless I do, and not always then, either!

My pain doctor took pity on my liver. When she increased the strength of my pain meds, she decreased the amount of tylenol in each pill. So my liver is safe, even if my sanity is hanging in the balance!

Have a great weekend,
Tracy

Tracy

I have those splint things you put on your wrists for carpal tunnel. When my wrists start to really act up and hurt a lot I wear the splints. Sometimes I only wear one. The left wrist (I'm left handed) hurts the most...I must blame it on the mouse!

Look at the bright side!!! You get a lot of fun reading done. My reading has suffered a bit lately. Don't know where the time goes but it's not to reading lately.

GET BETTER!

Good morning (it's about 3:30 am and this is my LAST post!),

I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing? I saw the orthopedic doctor today and he wants to operate on my left hand as soon as possible. We have a few kinks to work out because of my Sjogren's, so I'll have the date later today. It really won't effect this swap at all because I'm stamping the OWH logo on cards that don't have them as they come in, putting them in sleeves and boxing them up, so there won't be any problem mailing them when the time comes.

Thanks to everyone who's sent in their cards already. I can't wait to see what else everyone does!

Good night,
Tracy

Tracy, Prayers for you today.

Sign me up for two spots. I received some lovely God Bless America ribbon....I'm so excited to use it.

Hello everyone!
I've been ''out of touch" for a while now. Kinda been in a funk lately - I blame it on the cold, dreary days.
So, I thought I'd check in and see whats been going on.

Hi Ladies,

Well, the surgery is Friday. He really did get me in ASAP. Usually his surgery schedule is at least a month and a half ahead.

I'll check in before Friday and then you may not hear from me for a week or two. Please keep sending your cards, I have everything organized so I can keep this swap moving forward.

Thanks for the prayers, I really appreciate it. We had our two sons, my DIL and 4 yo grandson and 8 mo granddaughter here for pizza tonight...very nice.

My hands aren't into typing anymore. I'll talk to you later,
Tracy

Tracy - Thinking of you and will continue to lift you in prayer. Haven't started my cards yet but I'm close.

Praying for a local family whose young (21 yo) ended his life. He had fought in combat in Afghanistan 2011. The pastor of our church (where I work and attend) was the local Chaplin called to the family as they processed what had happened. Breaks my heart to hear and creates in me a spirit to reach out to all those I meet to find the Lord. The great healer.
