Ladies, I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking...let's not start Sept 1, lets go ahead and keep it Oct 1. I'm not sure I can get my act together by Sept 1 either! My boys start school tomorrow. My youngest starts 1st grade - the last to go to school all day long...woo hoo.....I mean boo hoo.
Good Night ladies, I've got lunches to make, backpacks to pack....
Hugs

Wow....our school doesn't start this year until the wed. After labor day...ugh" My older two head off to college on Sat. Leaving my 9th grader home with just Mom and Dad for the first time. Not sure she's too thrilled with that!

I know Terry. We typically didn't start school until the end of August. (often fell on my BD) I gotta tell you, I didn't even turn on the radio today, I just sat and listened to the quiet. We'll see if I get my house cleaned, finally! Hat!

Anyone else like me, itchin' to get the fall stuff out. School just feels like fall. I try to hold back until Sept 1 at least. I just love the fall colors - it's the colors of my interior of my home as well!!! For now, these fews weeks I just enjoy all the sunflowers and know the leaves will be turning soon enough. I think one thing I look forward to is to NOT have to water the flowers every day - I'm ready to just chill and just enjoy the outdoors for a bit, not work so hard!

Happy Day everyone!
Hugs

Way to go Terry. I look forward to seeing them. I hope to do my cards this weekend. I never have done a sketch challenge, so this will be a challenge for me. I'll let y'all know how it goes

I usually get my fall stuff about about now. Our wedding anniversary is the 25th of August and our colors were typical autumn colors. Because we don't have a lot of room to display pictures, I pull them out for their occasions.. aka the Wedding picture comes out and is displayed with my bouquet and the lamp bouquet my maid of honor carried. Sept. 1st, those items get packed away and I start thinking about the Halloween stuff by Oct. 1st.

But my fall candle centerpiece and placemats stay out from this time through time to put up Christmas

I hope everyone is having a great week. I have a sick kiddo, and a sick puppy today...sigh. All should be good to go for tomorrow.

Hi Everyone, happy Hump Day!

Went to Vegas for my pool tourney but we didn't go too far, yikes. On the way back we stopped @ Yosemite and it was so nice to smell fresh air and hike.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Amy, I'd like to join. I'm a newbie to swapping on SCS but certainly not to swapping. I do have a gallery. Still souping up my profile/avatar etc so I'll figure out how to create a link in the morning.

Sorry to hear you didn't get too far in your tourney....how facinating. It's not every day that you meet someone who plays pool on a competing level.
Yosemite is so fabulous. We were there several years ago when my DS (9yo) was 18 months - DH carried him in backpack the whole time. We really want to get back with both DS's and spend much more time to get off the main trails. A photographer's dream place. I'm a sucker for waterfalls, so this is just perfect.

Hugs.

haha, Rachel, I know how you feel! I was so excited when I could finally post to the swap forum too.

Amy, thanks!! yes, Ching is my first name. You're sweet to ask. I haven't been crafting in awhile so I'm joining swaps to get my mojo going. I'm in the middle of doing a final but huge overhaul of all my storage and trying to consolidate all of my stash into half of my bedroom. It's currently separated in the dining room, living room and in my bedroom upstairs. Everywhere I look, there seems to be yet another box or shopping bag full of I don't know what. I'm so overwhelmed. One half of my closet is done, but I still have the shelving system that needs to be built in the other half. Just have to figure out what the heck I have to know what my shelving needs are. I envy people who are on those Clean Sweep shows. lol..I need an army of people to help me do this.

At this time, I don't have any questions. I'll probably start on my swap items over the holiday weekend next weekend. Thanks for letting me in!! Looking forward to swapping with everyone.

Welcome Rachel! So great to have you. You're going to have so much fun seeing all the creative things he girls come up with. Please feel free to post any questions you may have, or even PM (private message) me. No question is too silly, we all were beginners at some point and were confused I had the hardest time to remember all the stuff to include in my swap (extra postage stamps, return envelope, put postage ON the return envelope) it was nuts, until I got into the groove I had a check list to make sure I had it all. We ask that you put it in a zip lock bag in case the post office tears the envelope, and we don't want our precious creations getting wet etc. It's so fun to stalk our mailboxes the first of the month. I will post here when I get them in the mail, so you'll get an idea when to start looking for your goodies.
Hugs and welcome!
Amy

Ladies, it's so wonderful to see some new faces. (new to me anyway) I am so excited to start this swap. I started to look at the recent card sketches...just can't decide. I've never done a card using a sketch - will be a new challenge for me.

Are you thinking about trying a new technique in December? What are you thinking about. For me, if you can believe it, I'm thinking of trying out my brayer - I've NEVER used it - it intimidates me. I've seen so many beautiful cards using the brayer. Maybe I'll do a little sewing? EEEK!!! I'm doubtful on that one - the thought of hauling out my old singer....not worth it. I've also not tried the tri-shutter fold card - so fun and I don't think it's that hard????? Just a few ideas I'm playing with. How about you?

Hugs
Amy

PS tomorrow is my bd.....maybe I'll get a whole day in my craft room with no interruptions????

Thanks Pam. I sort of did what you "wished". My mom always sends me $ for my BD, and I ordered a ton from the new SU Holiday catalog. I usually only find a few things in these mini's I like, but this catalog, I found a LOT I had to have. eek! Believe it or not, I think today I am going to clean my craft area (yes, it's horrendous) and then NOT FEEL GUILTY about stampin today.

BJ, sure thing. You can always combine your swaps to ease on postage, but remember to include two separate return envelopes with proper postage, as I won't be combining swaps. Send 'em on in if they are ready and you want them off your desk. One thing I like to remind everyone, if you are reguarily adding to your stamp supply (frequent shopper) don't work too far ahead, you may want to use your new stuff, and wish you hadn't sent in your swap already

Happy Monday everyone. I had a sick kiddo home most of last week, so I'm doing the happy dance when both kids went out the door this morning. whew! I'm going to clean my stamp area. Do I dare take before and after pics??? Shameful.

Hugs

Thanks Amy! And I think I forgot to say this, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you incorporated a challenge into our swap.

I used a challenge...can't remember what it was and I'm out of town right now, but LOVED doing it.

so THANK YOU for being an outstanding hostess. This is great again!!

Thanks Kay. I'm so glad you liked the challenge idea, I think we should challenge one another to try something different, so that's my motivation for including a challenge. Also why I only keep it optional, as I know some months we'll be lucky to get our cards done!!! So I don't want anyone to feel pressured to participate in the challenge.
Safe Travels

Default So excited but need a little feedback

I've got my cards started and can't wait to send them off by the end of the week. I'm working out of an incomplete stamping roomand digging for my supplies out of boxes. We moved (a whopping 3 blocks) last December and finishing my stamping closet is not at the same priority level for my husband as it is for me. I'd do it myself but just like noone is allowed to mess with my tools, my husband has a similar rule!

Anyway, I wanted to ask the participants for some feedback. I always stamp my cards with a "hand stamped by Rachel Schott" stamp on the back in versamark or other pale color. Does having someone else's name on the back of the card bother you when you choose a card to give out? I can easily leave the stamp off and put a sticky note inside for identification purposes. To answer my own question, I have no problem giving our cards with your names on them.

Oooohh....one other question. We aren't including recipes are we? I use a wide range of products and don't always remember where I got them. The recipes become sort of a creative buzzkill for me when I have to write down all the supplies. I will happily answer questions about supplies or techniques but would prefer not to include recipes.

Thanks so much!
Rachel

Wink i would really like to join

Can I join and play, a monthly swap sounds so fun, a monthy goody delivery...does it get any better than that.

Thanks, I look forward to the fun.

Hi Rachel!!

No recipe required; thank goodness!!

And to answer your question...I personally leave my 'hand stamped by Kay' stamp off...and I prefer not to have the back stamp that's stamped by someone else.

But even if it's on there, it doesn't stop me from giving it

Denise, I'd love to have you join us. Please feel free to ask here any questions you may have. I've listed optional "additional challenges" in red. Have fun and I'll look forward to seeing your swaps Oct 1!

Hugs
Amy

Great questions Rachel. Thanks Kay for jumping in.
NO RECIPES. My thought on this is if you really want to know where someone got something, just PM them, and hopefully they will remember I agree, major hassle to keep track of everything. That is why I don't post too often in my gallery. However, since I started to get more involved in swaps, I figured the ladies wanted to see some of my work. I am sooo lazy when it comes to that, however, having said that I sooooo appreciate those who do list every last detail on their cards (in the gallery) - I've been turned onto some great stuff I would have never looked at unless they listed what stamp it was.

As for the name stamp on the back. I never have figured out why people don't put their stamp on their cards. I would never dream of sending out a card that I didn't stamp and pass it off as my own. eek. But that is just me. So I always stamp mine, but I realize I could be in the minority here. If as a group we'd rather NOT stamp the back, and just put a sticky, I'm ok with that. But again, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want the "artists" stamp on the card (????) Confused? What I mean to say it I do send out other's cards all the time, and I prefer to have their name on the back, but I would never stamp my own name on the back. PLUS, it is my habit to personally PM each and every gal that I received their card. I just think it's good manners and a little feedback (always positive) is always nice. So if the card isn't signed I don't know who to thank. Now that I am hosting I'll never be in the dark again My two cents.

Hugs
Amy

Leah, did you want to join? Not sure if I satisfactorily answered your question.
Thanks

Marie, I was just going through the thread and realized I didn't answer your question. (sorry) I'm not tooo up on FB or the likes, so tell me the advantage of having a FB page or group, as opposed to posting here? SOrry, I'm a little ignorant on these FB things. What could we do in that forum that we can't here at SCS? Thanks Marie for the suggestion and clarification.
